Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Eastern University and Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF), successfully organized a workshop titled "Understanding Climate Change and Climate Finance: National and International Perspective" on 22 February 2025. The event took place at the Rezakul Haider Hall, Eastern University.
The workshop aimed to deepen the understanding of climate change and its financial implications, both from national and international perspectives. It brought together academicians, researchers, and students to discuss the pressing challenges of climate change and explore sustainable solutions through climate finance.
The Chief Guest of the event was Professor Dr. Shahid Akhtar Hossain, Vice Chancellor of Eastern University. In his address, he emphasized the critical role of academic institutions in addressing climate change and fostering innovative solutions. He also highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts between organizations like PKSF and universities to tackle global environmental challenges.
The session was chaired by Professor Md. Shamsul Huda, Treasurer of Eastern University, who underscored the need for integrating climate finance into national policies and international frameworks.
The workshop began with a welcome speech by Professor Dr. Md. Ashraf Hossain, Director of the IQAC and Professor at the Faculty of Business Administration, Eastern University. He expressed his gratitude to PKSF for their collaboration and stressed the importance of such initiatives in raising awareness and building capacity to combat climate change.
The keynote speaker of the session was Dr. AKM Nuruzzaman, General Manager, Environments Climate Change, a distinguished representative from PKSF. In his presentation, Dr. Nuruzzaman provided an in-depth analysis of climate finance mechanisms, both at the national and international levels. He discussed the role of global funds, such as the Green Climate Fund (GCF), and how Bangladesh can leverage these resources to implement climate-resilient projects. He also highlighted PKSF's efforts in promoting sustainable development and climate adaptation in vulnerable communities.
Faculty members, students, and officials from EU and PKSF actively participated in the event. The workshop featured interactive discussions and Q&A sessions, allowing participants to engage with the speakers and share their insights on climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies.
EU and PKSF remain committed to fostering knowledge-sharing and collaboration to address the global climate crisis. This workshop marks a significant step toward building a more sustainable and climate-resilient future.
