On 29 November 2025, Eastern University successfully hosted the 4th IEEE Conference on Biomedical Engineering, Computer and Information Technology for Health (BECITHCON) 2025 at its permanent campus. All activities of the first day were conducted according to schedule, and the event remained vibrant and enriching throughout the day with the active participation of researchers, academics, and students from various universities. The inauguration ceremony was graced by Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Honorable Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, as the Chief Guest. Distinguished Professor Dr. M. M. Shahidul Hasan from the School of Engineering and Technology, Eastern University, addressed the audience as the Guest of Honour. Eminent academicians—Professor Dr. Celia Shahnaz, Professor Dr. Shaikh A. Fattah, and Professor Dr. Muhammad Imamul Hasan Bhuiyan—all from the EEE Department of BUET and holding significant responsibilities within IEEE—were present as Special Guests. The session was chaired by Professor Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at Eastern University and Chair of the Conference Organizing Committee. The speakers highlighted the future directions of health technology and inspired young researchers toward innovation. Three international keynote speakers delivered their talks virtually at this year’s conference. * Dr. Md. Touhidul Islam, Assistant Professor, Department of Radiation Oncology (Medical Physics), Stanford University, USA, presented the keynote “Next-Generation AI for High-Dimensional Biomedical Data: Towards Interpretable and Data-Efficient Discovery”, shedding light on innovative and interpretable AI techniques for analyzing complex healthcare data. * Dr. Roshan Joy Martis, Associate Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Manipal Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, India, delivered a talk titled “Intelligent Processing of Biomedical Signals: A Technological Perspective”, discussing current applications, challenges, and future opportunities in biomedical signal processing. * Dr. Ashir Ahmed, Associate Professor, Faculty of Information Science and Electrical Engineering, Kyushu University, Japan, spoke on “Digital Transformation for Healthcare Productivity: Lessons from PHC, AI, and Global South Innovation”, sharing real-world insights into digital health services, portable health clinics, and AI-driven triage systems aimed at enhancing healthcare productivity. Throughout the day, parallel sessions featured presentations on biomedical engineering, smart health systems, artificial intelligence in healthcare, medical devices, and emerging technology-driven research. The active involvement of researchers, faculty members, professionals, and students contributed to a highly positive and knowledge-rich environment. Following the inauguration ceremony, Eastern University hosted the co-located activities of the International Industrial Activities Congress (INDCon) 2025. Organized jointly by the IEEE Eastern University Student Branch and the IEEE Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) Student Branch, the program included project showcasing, quiz competitions, idea competitions, and several educational and competitive activities. These activities offered students opportunities to learn, innovate, and participate actively. Approximately 90 students from around 25 universities participated both onsite and online. The first day of the conference concluded with constructive discussions, research presentations, and collaborative exchanges. The event once again reaffirmed Eastern University’s commitment to research advancement, academic excellence, and fostering international collaboration. The second day of IEEE BECITHCON 2025 will be held virtually on 30 November 2025, with additional local and international researchers and experts joining the sessions.

We are pleased to share that the certificate awarding ceremony of Digital Skills Training for students, a premier learning opportunity presented by the EDGE Project of the Bangladesh Computer Council and ICT Division was held on 22 November 2025 at Happy Arcade of Dhanmondi. This ceremony was organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Eastern University. Certificates were presented to 60 students of LL.B, 25 students of LL.M, 29 students of MBA and 11 students of M.A. in English in recognition of their outstanding performance and successful completion of training. The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Vice Chancellor of EU as chief guest. In his valuable speech, highlighted to move forward with a spirit of innovation, but also with ethics, empathy and the determination to create a brighter, more inclusive world. Prof. Dr. M. Sayedur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Business Administration and A.B.M. Imdadul Haque Khan, Dean, Faculty of Law were present as special guests and the ceremony was presided by Syed Habib Anwar Pasha, Head, Department of Business Administration, Eastern University. Four students from the Faculty of Law, Eastern University, recently participated in the Legal Skills Boot Camp 2025, a three-day national residential program organized by the Human Rights Observation Center at Subornogram Resort, Narayanganj. The boot camp brought together 80 aspiring legal professionals from 20 universities across Bangladesh, creating a dynamic platform for participants to learn, link, and lead through intensive sessions on human rights, legal research, and legislative drafting. Representing Eastern University were: * Abu Nasir Al Rakib (4th Semester) * Shajida Islam Maria (4th Semester) * Umme Maria Tiffa (3rd Semester) * N.N. Md. Mujtoba Shamuel Hossain (2nd Semester) Eastern University proudly notes that Abu Nasir Al Rakib received the Best Activity Excellence Award for his outstanding performance during the camp. Participants engaged in a variety of interactive workshops and activities. The IEEE Eastern University Student Branch proudly celebrated IEEE Day 2025 on 10th November 2025, marking a vibrant day of innovation, inspiration, and collaboration under the global theme “Leveraging Technology for a Better Tomorrow.” The celebration was graced by the Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, whose presence added significance to the event. Prof. Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Technology; Dr. Md. Abdullah Al Humayun, Chairperson, Department of EEE; Prof. Md. Shamsul Huda, Treasurer; and Dr. Abul Basher Khan, Registrar, were also present, encouraging students to continue their innovative journey in alignment with IEEE’s global vision. We were honored to welcome distinguished alumni and professionals who shared their insights and experiences on higher studies and career opportunities in France and China. We are deeply saddened to inform all members of the Eastern University family that Professor Dr. A.K.M. Saiful Majid, former Chairman and Member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of Eastern University, Member of the Eastern University Foundation, and former Director of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka, passed away this morning, 11 November 2025, at the age of 68, while undergoing treatment. Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji‘oon (إِنَّا لِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ) — Surely, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. Professor Dr. Majid’s invaluable contributions to the growth and development of Eastern University will be remembered with deep respect and gratitude. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and pray for the eternal peace of his departed soul.

ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি প্রাঙ্গণে গতকাল ৮ নভেম্বর আইন বিভাগের প্রয়াত সহযোগী অধ্যাপক মো. ইফতেখার মাহমুদ স্মরণে এক শোকসভা এবং দোয়া মাহফিল অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। শিক্ষক, শিক্ষার্থী, প্রশাসনিক কর্মকর্তা, সহকর্মী এবং তাঁর পরিবারের সদস্যদের উপস্থিতিতে এ আয়োজন হয়ে ওঠে এক আবেগঘন স্মরণ অনুষ্ঠান। তাঁর প্রয়াণের পর থেকে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় পরিবারের প্রতিটি স্তরে অনুভূত হচ্ছে গভীর শূন্যতা। তিনি শুধু একজন শিক্ষকই নন — ছিলেন জ্ঞানের আলো ছড়ানো এক আলোকবর্তিকা। ছাত্র–ছাত্রীদের প্রতি তাঁর মানবিক আচরণ, শান্তশিষ্ট স্বভাব এবং অনুপ্রেরণাদায়ী ভূমিকা তাঁকে এনে দিয়েছিল সকলের অকৃত্রিম ভালোবাসা। পাশাপাশি তিনি ছিলেন লেখক, জীবন ও দর্শনের গভীরতা নিয়ে লিখেছেন সাতটি গ্রন্থ — যা পাঠক সমাজে তাঁকে প্রতিষ্ঠিত করেছে একজন মননশীল এবং চিন্তাশীল গবেষক-লেখক হিসেবে। ৩০ অক্টোবর ২০২৫ দিনটি ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি পরিবারের জন্য এক অপূরণীয় শোকের দিন হিসেবে চিহ্নিত হয়ে থাকবে। অনুষ্ঠানে বক্তব্য প্রদান করেন ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির মাননীয় উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানী। তিনি বলেন, ফুলের সুগন্ধি যেমন ফুলের পাপড়ির ভেতর লুকায়িত, ঠিক তেমনি ইফতেখার মাহমুদ তার কথার মাঝে সাহিত্য কর্মে লুকায়িত। তিনি মৃত্যুবরণ করে দেখিয়ে গিয়েছেন কিভাবে সবার মাঝে বেঁচে থাকতে হয়। উপাচার্য মহোদয় প্রয়াত শিক্ষকের পেশাগত অবদান, মানবিক চরিত্র ও একাডেমিক নিষ্ঠার প্রতি গভীর শ্রদ্ধা নিবেদন করেন। এছাড়া বক্তব্য রাখেন ট্রেজারার প্রফেসর মো. শামসুল হুদা, রেজিস্ট্রার ড. আবুল বাশার খান, আইন অনুষদের ডিন এ.বি.এম. ইমদাদুল হক খান, প্রযুক্তি ও প্রকৌশল অনুষদের ডিন প্রফেসর ড. মো. মাহফুজুর রহমান, ব্যবসায় প্রশাসন অনুষদের ডিন প্রফেসর ড. এম. ছায়েদুর রহমান, আইন বিভাগের চেয়ারম্যান মোহাম্মদ মামুনুর রশিদ, ইংরেজি বিভাগের চেয়ারম্যান মো. রফিউসসান এবং ড. মো. জহুরুল হক, আইন অনুষদের সাবেক ডিন এবং চেয়ার। তাঁরা প্রয়াত শিক্ষকের প্রজ্ঞা, নেতৃত্ব এবং শিক্ষা ক্ষেত্রে অবদান তুলে ধরেন। প্রয়াত ইফতেখার মাহমুদের সাবেক সহকর্মীদের মাঝে স্মৃতিচারণ এবং ব্যক্তিগত অনুভূতি তুলে ধরেন ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির আইন বিভাগের প্রথম চেয়ারপার্সন ইশরাত আজীম আহমাদ, সাবেক চেয়ারম্যান ড. আবদুল আওয়াল খান (বর্তমান অধ্যাপক, আইইউবি), সাবেক সহকারী অধ্যাপক, রেহনুমা বিনতে মামুন (ফ্যাকাল্টি অব ল, আইইউবি), এবং গোলাম সারওয়ার, সহকারী অধ্যাপক, আইন বিভাগ, ঢাবি। তাঁর সহপাঠী ও বন্ধু লে. কর্নেল নাজমুল হক এবং মুনাওয়ার হোসেনও তাদের স্মৃতিচারণে আবেগ প্রকাশ করেন। অনুষ্ঠানের সবচেয়ে হৃদয়স্পর্শী মুহূর্ত ছিল তাঁর একমাত্র কন্যা মনীষা তাইফের বক্তব্য। বাবার স্মৃতি, তাঁর ভাবনার শক্তি এবং শব্দের সৌন্দর্য—মনীষার কণ্ঠে যেন জীবন্ত হয়ে ওঠে। তাঁর স্ত্রী তানিয়া নাসরীনও পরিবারের পক্ষ থেকে শ্রদ্ধাভরে স্মৃতিচারণ করেন। ইফতেখার মাহমুদ ছিলেন ধীমান, নীরব, মূল্যবোধে দৃঢ় এবং আলোকিত এক মানুষ। রাজশাহী ক্যাডেট কলেজ থেকে উচ্চমাধ্যমিক শেষ করে রাজশাহী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের আইন বিভাগ থেকে তাঁর শিক্ষাজীবনের পথচলা শুরু। পেশা হিসেবে শিক্ষকতাকে বেছে নিয়ে তিনি আলো ছড়িয়ে গেছেন অসংখ্য শিক্ষার্থীর জীবনে। ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির আইন অনুষদে তিনি ছিলেন জ্ঞান, অনুপ্রেরণা ও মানবিকতার এক মূর্ত প্রতীক। ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি পরিবার এই প্রিয় শিক্ষককে গভীর শ্রদ্ধা ও ভালোবাসায় স্মরণ করছে। তিনি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় পরিবারের স্মৃতিতে অম্লান হয়ে থাকবেন।

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at Eastern University proudly hosted a distinguished technical seminar on November 5, 2025, featuring Dr. Chowdhury Rajeeb Shahriar, Senior Principal Engineer at Raytheon, USA. Dr. Shahriar is a highly accomplished electrical engineer with extensive expertise in communications and signal processing, with specializations in wireless and satellite communications, software-defined radio (SDR), cognitive radio (CR), communication security (COMSEC), electronic warfare (EW), automatic modulation classifier (AMC), synthetic-aperture radar (SAR), interference mitigation, spectrum allocation, antenna technologies, and next-generation mobile communication systems including 4G and 5G. During his insightful talk, Dr. Shahriar discussed the evolution of advanced communication systems, emerging industry trends, and future research opportunities for young engineers. His session provided students, faculty members, and invited guests with valuable knowledge on real-world applications, challenges, and innovations shaping the global communications landscape. The program was graced by the presence of the respected Dean, Prof. Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman, the Chairperson of EEE, Prof. Dr. Abdullah Al Humayun, along with esteemed faculty members and enthusiastic students, who actively participated throughout the interactive question-and-answer session. The Freshers’ Orientation for Fall 2025 was held on 26 October 2025 at Eastern University campus in Ashulia, Dhaka. The program warmly welcomed the newly admitted students to the Eastern University. The event was presided over by Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University. Professor Dr. A. S. M. Amanullah, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of National University, attended the event as the Chief Guest. Professor Dr. ABM Shahidul Islam and Mr. Mohammad Ali Azzam, Members of the Board of Trustees, Eastern University, were present as Special Guests. In their speeches, the guests encouraged students to become attentive, ethical, and professionally skilled citizens. They also highlighted the importance of higher education in building leadership and contributing to national development. Among others, Professor Md. Shamsul Huda, Treasurer of Eastern University; Dr. Abul Basher Khan, Registrar; Professor Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology; Professor Dr. M. A historical Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on October 25, 2025, at the permanent campus of Eastern University, Ashulia, Dhaka, among five leading universities located in the Ashulia area. The MoU was signed by Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University; Professor Dr. M. R. Kabir, Vice-Chancellor of Daffodil International University; Brigadier General Professor Dr. Engr. Md Lutfor Rahman (Retd), Vice-Chancellor of City University; Professor Dr. Mohammad Abdur Rob, Vice-Chancellor of Manarat International University; and Emeritus Professor Dr. Shahjahan Khan, Vice-Chancellor of Asian University of Bangladesh. The Registrars of all five universities signed the document as witnesses. The primary objective of this MoU is to establish Ashulia as a “Higher Education Hub” through joint collaboration among the participating universities in education, research, infrastructure development, and community engagement. The signatory universities will jointly organize a variety of academic and co-curricular activities, including seminars, conferences, workshops, sports competitions, debates, and leadership and entrepreneurship development programs. The universities also committed to working together to ensure a drug-free and safe campus environment, while addressing local issues such as transportation, waste management, and environmental sustainability through collective initiatives. The Vice-Chancellors agreed to hold an annual meeting to review progress and design future collaborative plans. This historic initiative marks a new milestone in the higher education landscape of Bangladesh. It sets a strong example of shared growth and academic partnership among universities, while paving the way for Ashulia to emerge as a dynamic center for integrated higher education and innovation.

The IEEE Eastern University Student Branch (IEEE EUSB) proudly participated in the 2025 Chair & Counselor's Summit hosted at Asia Hotel & Resorts on Topkhana Road, Dhaka. The event drew student branch leaders and faculty counsellors from across Bangladesh, offering a rich environment for leadership development, community building and professional growth. Representing IEEE EUSB at the summit were: Professor & Dean Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman, serving as the branch’s faculty counsellor Farhan Ahmed Rahee, Vice Chair, IEEE EUSB Mummy Sultana Meem, Vice Chair of the IEEE Women In Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group Nazmus Sakib, Event Outreach Executive, IEEE EUSB The summit featured keynote sessions, leadership discussions, and interactive workshops centered on enhancing student branch governance, member engagement, and collaboration between student officers and counsellors. Faculty Counselor Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman represented Eastern University among distinguished educators, emphasizing the importance of mentorship and faculty collaboration in IEEE’s student ecosystem During the event, Farhan Ahmed Rahee, Vice Chair of IEEE EUSB, delivered a presentation speech showcasing the branch’s key activities from 2024 and outlining future visionary projects designed to expand innovation, inclusion, and student participation at Eastern University. Mummy Sultana Meem actively participated in sessions on empowering women in STEM through the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group, while Nazmus Sakib joined outreach strategy discussions with other IEEE Branches to strengthen the branch’s communication and event promotion efforts. Adding to the branch’s success, IEEE Eastern University Student Branch (IEEE EUSB) was granted a rebate from the IEEE Global in recognition of its excellent performance during the 2024–2025 fiscal year. The branch was also honored as one of the Top 24 IEEE Student Branches in Bangladesh to receive this distinction. During the event, Prof. Dr. Celia Shahnaz, Chair of the IEEE Bangladesh Section, expressed her heartfelt congratulations to IEEE EUSB for their continuous dedication and achievements. She commended the branch’s efforts in promoting professionalism and leadership among young engineers and stated that the IEEE Bangladesh Section intends to select Eastern University as a venue for future IEEE events due to its dynamic engagement and organizational excellence. Eastern University expresses its profound sorrow at the passing of Md. Iftekhar Mahmud, Associate Professor, Faculty of Law, who passed away on Thursday, 30 October 2025, after a prolonged illness caused by brain cancer. Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un. Mr. Md. Iftekhar Mahmud began his teaching career at Eastern University in 2005 and served with dedication and sincerity for nearly two decades. He played significant roles in both academic and administrative capacities, notably serving as the In-Charge of the Center for Social Innovation and Outreach (CSIO) at Eastern University. He obtained his LL.B (2003) and LL.M (2004) degrees from the University of Rajshahi. His areas of academic interest included Legal Education, Constitutional Law of Bangladesh, Governance, and International Organizational Law. As an inspiring educator, Mr. Mahmud was deeply respected and admired by his students for his thoughtful teaching and commitment to ethical learning. He also contributed to the field of legal education through several scholarly publications, including: ● Answerability of International Organizations (ELCOP Journal of Human Rights, 2023) ● Legal Education in the Time of COVID-19 and the 4th Industrial Revolution (BILIA, 2022) ● Dhaka’s Motorcycle Ride Typifies International Organizations’ Escape from Responsibility (Lex & Juris Publication, Nepal, 2021) His Namaz-e-Janaza was held today, Thursday, 30 October 2025, at Masjid ut Taqwa, Dhanmondi. The 7th International Conference on Integrated Sciences (ICIS 2025) under the theme Integrating Artificial Intelligence in Science, Business, and Islamic Paradigms, held today on October 25, 2025 at Eastern University, Ashulia Model Town, Dhaka. The conference was jointly organized by Eastern University, Bangladesh, and the International Open University (IOU), The Gambia. The inaugural session was presided over by Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Honorable Vice Chancellor of Eastern University. In his address, Professor Sobhani emphasized the importance of ethical and human values in science, business, technology, and education. A special video message was delivered by Professor Dr. Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips, Honorable Chancellor of IOU, The Gambia, and Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh (APUB). Professor Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmed, Chairman of the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Special Guests included Engr. Eastern University’s Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organized a workshop today at its Rezakul Haider Hall to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry. The event was presided over by Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Honorable Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, who emphasized on integrating industrial expertise with academic research to enhance innovation, employability, and quality education. Distinguished speakers included Prof. Dr. Khondaker A. Mamun, Professor of AI, Department of CSE at UIU and Founder of CMED Health; and Prof. Dr. Swakkhar Shatabda, Professor of CSE at BRAC University. Both shared insights on AI, health technology, ways of industry-connectivity, research commercialization, and the future of innovation in Bangladesh. The session was attended by the faculty members, and officials of the university. The Treasurer, Registrar, Deans of the Faculties, Director of the IQAC, and Chairpersons of different departments put their valuable remarks at the end of the workshop. Participants expressed their deep satisfaction, describing it as an excellent workshop that proved beneficial for students, teachers, and the university as a whole.

A landmark meeting was held at the Knowledge Tower of DIU with the Vice Chancellors, Pro Vice Chancellors, and Registrars of Daffodil International University, Eastern University, City University, Manarat International University, and Asian University of Bangladesh to build an alliance for collective development. The discussion focused on addressing common challenges in the Ashulia area, including electricity and power shortages, traffic congestion, transportation, law and order, and internet connectivity. This collaboration envisions transforming Ashulia into a vibrant Higher Education City. The universities expressed their commitment to working together through joint seminars, conferences, workshops, faculty exchanges, resource sharing, and extracurricular as well as social activities. They also agreed to engage with the UGC and relevant ministries to find sustainable solutions to these pressing issues. This was the second meeting of the initiative. The participants appreciated the first meeting, which was held on 23 June 2025 at Eastern University under the leadership of its Vice-Chancellor.

The Competitive Player Auction – August 27, 2025 On August 27, 2025, a thrilling and fiercely competitive Player Auction was held before the formal start of the 2nd Pharmacy (Practice) Football Tournament, laying the groundwork for what would turn out to be a two-day event that would never be forgotten. The Pharmacy Department as a whole was enthralled with the auction, which added an extra element of excitement to the occasion. Four team owners, each representing a pharmaceutical-themed squad, engaged in a bidding war in a crowded hall to acquire the top players for their teams. Each owner raised their paddles to purchase players based on their abilities, potential, and prior performances during the frantic and quick-paced auction process. Teams were constrained by a set budget, and choices were heavily influenced by strategy. By the time the auction ended, the teams were formed, and the excitement in the room was evident as each team completed their lineups. Everyone was anxiously awaiting the next group-stage matches, and the crowd was cheering for their favoured teams. Day 1: September 27, 2025 – The Opening Ceremony and Group Matches After that, on the 27th of September, 2025, the highly anticipated 1st Pharmacy Intra-Department Football Tournament kicked off with great energy and enthusiasm, bringing together students, faculty, and staff for two days of thrilling football action. The event, which was held on the lush green grounds of the university’s sports field, saw fierce competition between four teams representing different pharmaceutical themes: Cephalosporin Squad, Azithromycin Royals, Antidote Avengers, and Vaccines Battlers. On that day, the tournament officially began at 10:00 AM with a vibrant Inauguration ceremony that set the tone for the day. Professor Dr. Firoj Ahmed (Advisor of the Pharmacy Department) and Dr. Abu Bin Ihsan, Chairperson of the Department of Pharmacy, and other Faculty members of Pharmacy Department added to the grandeur of the occasion with their presence and support for the event. Their encouragement underscored the importance of extracurricular activities in building holistic development among students. With the opening remarks completed, the stage was set for the first match of the tournament. The first match of the day featured Antidote Avengers and Vaccine Battlers. The game kicked off at 11:00 AM, and both teams came out with high energy. Both teams played with determination, but due to strong defense, they couldn’t manage to score a goal. Thanks to the captains who showcased impressive leadership. Md. Mazharul Islam was announced as the man of the match for his outstanding efforts. At 12:00 PM, the Vaccine Battlers faced the Cephalosporin Squad in a match that saw solid defense from both sides. Despite several attempts on goal, neither team managed to break the deadlock, and the match ended in a goalless draw. Safayet Sunny was announced as the man of the match for his great defense and constant efforts to score goal. At 01:40 PM, the third match began between the Azithromycin Royals and the Antidote Avengers, which proved to be a thrilling encounter. The Royals were in great attacking form, and their efforts paid off when they managed to score a single goal. This solitary goal was enough to secure a 1-0 victory for the Azithromycin Royals. For his all-around contribution, Arif Ahmed Sagor was awarded the Man of the Match title. The final match of Day 1 saw Azithromycin Royals facing off against the Cephalosporin Squad. Fueled by their earlier victory, Azithromycin Royals displayed excellent teamwork and clinical finishing, scoring a goal to secure a convincing 1-0 win. Arif Ahmed Sagor from the Azithromycin Royals played a starring role in the match, scoring the decisive goal. His overall performance earned him the Man of the Match award for this match too. Day 2: September 28, 2025 – The Grand Finale After two days of exciting group-stage matches, the tournament culminated on September 28, 2025, with the much-awaited final match. The final was set between Vaccine Battlers and Azithromycin Royals, two teams that had displayed great talent throughout the tournament. Final Match: Vaccine Battlers vs. Azithromycin Royals The final match began at 02:00 PM, and the atmosphere was electric with both teams giving their all to claim the trophy. Throughout the match, both teams displayed tremendous skill, but despite several opportunities, neither managed to find the back of the net in the first half. In the second half, a goal was scored in favour of Vaccine Battlers which decided the result of the match. The crowd was on the edge of their seats as the final whistle blew, and Vaccine Battlers were crowned the champions of the 2nd Pharmacy (practice) Football Tournament. Despite the loss, the Azithromycin Royals gave an outstanding performance throughout the match, and their efforts were truly commendable. Rakib Nayem from the Azithromycin Royals was selected as the Man of the Match for his exceptional performance. Prize Giving Ceremony: Recognition of Outstanding Performances At 03:15 PM, the Prize Giving Ceremony took place, where the efforts of the players and teams were recognized. Five players were honored with the Man of the Match awards for their exceptional performances throughout the tournament: • Md. Mazharul Islam (Vaccines Battlers) – Man of the Match (Match 1) • Safayet Sunny (Cephalosporin Squad) – Man of the Match (Match 2) • Arif Ahmed Sagor (Azithromycin Royals) – Man of the Match (Match 3) • Arif Ahmed Sagor (Azithromycin Royals) – Man of the Match (Match 4) • Rakib Nayem (Vaccines Battlers) – Man of the Match (Final) In addition to the Man of the Match awards, special accolades were also presented: • Najmul Hasnat Shawon was awarded as the Best Goalkeeper for his impeccable saves and leadership in defense. • Arif Ahmed Sagor was recognized as both the Best Player and Top Scorer, a well-deserved honor for his all-around performance and sportsmanship. Finally, the Vaccine Battlers accepted the Winner's Trophy with immense pride, while Azithromycin Royals took home the Runner-up Trophy, both teams having displayed exemplary skills and sportsmanship over the course of the tournament. To conclude, the 2nd Pharmacy (Practice) Football Tournament 2025 was a resounding success, providing not only a platform for students to showcase their athletic skills but also a wonderful opportunity to strengthen bonds among the department. The competitive spirit, combined with fair play and enthusiasm, made the tournament an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. As the final whistle blew, the participants and spectators alike were already looking forward to next year’s edition, hoping for even more action-packed matches and memorable moments.

The Department of Pharmacy, in collaboration with the Eastern University Pharma Club (EUPC), successfully celebrated World Pharmacists Day 2025 from 22–25 September 2025 through a series of academic and co-curricular programs. The celebration featured Debate, Hunt for Host, Poster Presentation, Quiz, Indoor Games. On 24 September, the day began with a Rally and Tree Plantation, which was honored by the presence of Professor Md. Shamsul Huda, Treasurer, Eastern University, along with faculty members and students. This initiative symbolized unity, awareness, and commitment to a healthier environment. Following the rally, the Pharma Talk Seminar was held. The session was honored by the presence of Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Honorable Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, who attended as Chief Guest and delivered an inspiring address. The program was also graced by Prof. Dr. Firoj Ahmed, Advisor to the Department of Pharmacy, and Dr. Abu Bin Ihsan, Chairperson of the Department of Pharmacy, Ms.Tasnia Binte Bari kabbo,Coordinator Eastern University Pharma Club together with respected faculty members. A special highlight of the seminar was the participation of Mr. Mohiuddin Andalib, Marketing Director of Servier, who joined as Special Guest. His thought-provoking speech on pharmaceutical marketing and the evolving role of pharmacists greatly motivated the students and young professionals in attendance. The seminar was conducted by Abir Tahmid Chowdhury, who skillfully guided the program. Later in the day, the Prize-Giving Ceremony celebrated the winners of the various competitions, recognizing their excellence, creativity, and dedication. The 4-day celebration concluded on 25 September with a Webinar on World Pharmacists Day, where distinguished academicians from the University of Dhaka and Eastern University shared their expertise on higher studies, academia, and research. Guided by the theme “Think Health, Think Pharmacist,” Eastern University remains committed to nurturing future pharmacy professionals with knowledge, integrity, and leadership.

The Department of English, Eastern University, in collaboration with the Eastern University English Club (EUEC), organized the Autumn Festival – 2025 on Sunday, 14 September 2025. The celebration took place on the premises of the department of English and in Rezakul Haider Hall, amidst an atmosphere of festivity, creativity, and cultural exuberance. The programme was coordinated by Ms. Kazi Tahmina, Assistant Professor of the Department of English in collaboration with the Eastern University English Club with guidance and support of Mr. Khaled Mahmud, Lecturer of the Department of English and Sadia Islam Ratri, Lecturer of the same department. The festival commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Md. Rofiussan, Chairperson of the Department of English, who stated the indispensability of cultural and co-curricular engagement in enriching students’ holistic learning experience. This was followed by the inaugural speech of Professor Dr. Farid Ahmmad Sobhani, Honourable Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University, who extolled the Department of English for their initiative, emphasizing the role of such programmes in cultivating creativity, leadership, and community spirit. The day’s proceedings harmoniously interwove stall exhibitions, competitions, and cultural performances, creating a vibrant tapestry of creativity and enthusiasm. Students demonstrated remarkable entrepreneurial skill through a diverse range of stalls, featuring homemade delicacies, dresses, handicrafts, jeweleries, and exquisitely designed stationery. These stalls emerged as a focal attraction, fostering lively interaction among participants and visitors alike. In addition, infusing dynamism into the occasion, the festival offered a variety of engaging contests. Students enthusiastically participated in the vocabulary competition, tongue twister challenge, pillow passing, ball throwing, instant quiz, and the set speech competition. Winners of the games and competitions were awarded with prizes, which were graciously distributed by the Honourable Vice-Chancellor, adding further encouragement and recognition to their achievements. Furthermore, the cultural segment infused the festival with rhythm, expression, and vibrancy. Performers enthralled the audience through singing, poetry recitations, graceful dances and fashion show, reflecting cultural diversity and aesthetic depth. The highlight was an engaging dramatic skit on Shakespeare’s Macbeth, which captivated the audience through spirited performances, and profound thematic message. This segment epitomized the collective artistic brilliance of the students. The programme was rounded off with words of appreciation from the distinguished guests. The Honourable Vice-Chancellor lauded the students’ dedication, creativity, and participation, commending the Department for arranging such a resplendent celebration. He further encouraged the continuation of similar endeavours to sustain an environment of collaboration and creativity. The Chairperson of the department of English, Mr. Md. Rofiussan, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the coordinators, faculty members, collaborators, and students whose concerted efforts ensured the programme’s resounding success. The Autumn Festival – 2025 was not merely a celebration of a season, but a manifestation of unity, creativity, and cultural enrichment that distinguishes the Department of English at Eastern University. আজ ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির নতুন সংযোগ সড়কের কাজ আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে উদ্বোধন করা হয়েছে। মেইন রোড থেকে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে সরাসরি যাতায়াতের সুবিধার্থে এ সড়কটি নির্মিত হচ্ছে, যা শিক্ষক, শিক্ষার্থী ও স্থানীয় জনগণের জন্য যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থাকে আরও সহজতর করবে। এটি নির্মাণ হলে অল্প সময়ের ব্যবধানে মেইন রোড থেকে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রবেশ করা যাবে। নির্মাণ কাজ উদ্বোধনের শুরুতে সকলের উদ্দেশ্যে বক্তব্য রাখেন ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির মাননীয় উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানী। তিনি উক্ত রাস্তার গুরুত্ব ও এর মাধ্যমে শিক্ষক, শিক্ষার্থী এবং স্থানীয় জনগণের যাতায়াতের সুবিধার বিষয়টি তুলে ধরেন। তিনি স্থানীয় জনগণ ও ভূমিদাতাদের সহযোগিতার জন্য কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করেন। উল্লেখ্য যে, উক্ত সড়ক নির্মাণের জন্য কিছু পরিমাণ ভূমি দান করেছে রহিমআফরোজ। এলাকাবাসীর সক্রিয় সহযোগিতায় আজ রাস্তার কাজ শুরু করা হয়। ফিতা কেটে নির্মাণ কাজ আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে সূচনা করেন রোড সংলগ্ন এক বাড়ির প্রবীণ ব্যক্তিত্ব জনাব বাচ্চু মিয়া, যার নামেই রোডটি পরিচিত। এ সময় উপস্থিত ছিলেন ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি বোর্ড অব ট্রাস্টিজের চেয়ারম্যান জনাব মোঃ মনিরুজ্জামান মোল্লা, ইউনিভার্সিটির প্ল্যানিং অ্যান্ড ডেভেলপমেন্ট কমিটির চেয়ারম্যান এবং বোর্ড অব ট্রাস্টিজের সদস্য ও সাবেক চেয়ারম্যান ইঞ্জিনিয়ার খন্দকার মেজবাহ উদ্দিন আহমেদ।‌ আরো উপস্থিত ছিলেন এলাকার গণ্যমান্য ব্যক্তিবর্গ, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ট্রেজারার, রেজিস্ট্রার, ডিনবৃন্দ, শিক্ষকবৃন্দ, বিভাগীয় প্রধানগণ এবং অনেক শিক্ষার্থী। স্থানীয়দের মধ্যে উল্লেখযোগ্যভাবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন মোঃ আনোয়ার হোসেন, মোঃ তাইজুল ইসলাম, ইউপি সদস্য ২ নং ওয়ার্ড বিরুলিয়া ইউনিয়ন পরিষদ, রাজিয়া সুলতানা, সংরক্ষিত ইউপি সদস্য ১, ২, ৩ নং ওয়ার্ড বিরুলিয়া ইউনিয়ন পরিষদ এবং নুরতাজ বেগম, সংরক্ষিত ইউপি সদস্য ৭, ৮, ৯ নং ওয়ার্ড বিরুলিয়া ইউনিয়ন পরিষদ।

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Eastern University organized a Faculty Development Program (FDP) titled “OBE Training Sessions” today at the CSE Lab. The event began with an opening address by Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Honourable Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, who emphasized the importance of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) in ensuring academic quality and global competitiveness of graduates. Professor Dr. Md. Ashraf Hossain, Director of IQAC, Eastern University, also attended the program and highlighted IQAC’s continuous efforts in promoting faculty development and quality enhancement across the university. The training program featured two interactive sessions. Session I: “OBE Concept and Question Format” was conducted by Dr. Md. Abdullah Al Humayun, Professor and Chairperson, Department of EEE, EU. He discussed the fundamentals of OBE, question design, and assessment strategies to align with program outcomes. Session II: “OBE Result-Sheet Preparation (Lab Exercise)” was facilitated by Mr. Muhammad Mahfuz Hasan, Chairperson, Department of CSE, EU, where participants engaged in a hands-on exercise to prepare OBE-based result sheets. The sessions aimed to strengthen faculty capacity in applying OBE practices in teaching, learning, and assessment. The IQAC of Eastern University continues to play a key role in enhancing teaching quality through workshops, training, and faculty development initiatives, contributing to the university’s mission of academic excellence.

An international webinar titled “Mastering the Art of Writing and Publishing Papers: Expert Strategies and Insider Tips” was successfully held on Sunday, 7 September 2025, at 7:00 PM. The program was jointly organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Eastern University, Dhaka, the International Open University (IOU), The Gambia, and the Bangladesh Society for Private University Academics (BSPUA), Dhaka. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University and President of BSPUA. In his inaugural speech, Prof. Sobhani emphasized the importance of quality research and global collaboration in advancing higher education and academic excellence in Bangladesh. His remarks set the tone for the evening, inspiring participants to pursue impactful research and scholarly contributions. The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Md. Aminul Islam, Full Research Professor, Prince Mohammad Bin Fahad University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Prof. Islam shared practical strategies, common pitfalls, and insider tips to help researchers effectively write and publish in high-impact journals. His presentation was followed by an interactive Q&A session, where participants from home and abroad actively engaged with thought-provoking questions. Earlier, the session began with an introduction by Ms. Syeda Khadiza Akter, Lecturer, Southeast Business School, Southeast University, and Life Fellow of BSPUA. The welcome address was given by Prof. Dr. Md. Ashraf Hossain, Director of IQAC, Eastern University. The webinar also featured panel discussions with Prof. Dr. Nehreen Majed (North South University) and Prof. Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman (Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Eastern University). The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Afroza Bulbul, Director for Research & Publication, International Open University, The Gambia, and concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Farhana Ferdousi, Associate Professor & Director, BBA Program, Southeast Business School, Southeast University. পবিত্র ঈদে মিলাদুন্নবী (সা.) উপলক্ষ্যে ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটিতে এক আলোচনা সভা ও দোয়া অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। আলোচনায় বক্তাগণ সর্বকালের সর্বশ্রেষ্ঠ মহামানব আমাদের প্রিয় নবী হযরত মুহাম্মদ (সা.)-এর জীবনাদর্শ অনুসরণের উপর গুরুত্বারোপ করেন। মুসলিম উম্মাহকে ঐক্যবদ্ধ থাকা এবং আল্লাহর সন্তুষ্টি অর্জনের নিমিত্তে কাজ করার আহ্বান জানান। দোয়া পরিচালনা করেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মাননীয় উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানী। আলোচনা অংশ নেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সম্মানিত ট্রেজারার, রেজিস্ট্রার, বিজ্ঞান অনুষদের ডিন, আইন অনুষদের অন্যতম শিক্ষক ও একজন শিক্ষার্থী।

Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Vice Chancellor of Eastern University and President of the Bangladesh Society for Private University Academics (BSPUA), has been honored with the prestigious IPM Education Leadership Award 2025 by the Institute of Personnel Management (IPM), Bangladesh. The award was conferred during the 3rd IPM HR Summit 2025, held yesterday at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) Auditorium, Dhaka. Ms. Farida Akhter, Hon’ble Advisor to the Interim Government of Bangladesh, presented the crest and award certificate to Professor Dr. Sobhani. The ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, including Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University; Professor Dr. Qumrul Ahsan, Vice Chancellor of University of Asia Pacific; Dr. Md. Musharrof Hossain, President of IPM; and Mr. Shakil Meraj, Secretary General of IPM. This award recognizes Professor Dr. Sobhani’s visionary leadership and outstanding contributions to the advancement of tertiary education in Bangladesh.

ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় শুধু একটি উচ্চশিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান নয়; এটি দেশের বুদ্ধিবৃত্তিক বিকাশ ও সাংস্কৃতিক অগ্রযাত্রার কেন্দ্রবিন্দু। আগামী ৯ সেপ্টেম্বর ২০২৫-এ অনুষ্ঠিতব্য ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় কেন্দ্রীয় ছাত্র সংসদ (Dhaka University Central Students’ Union, DUCSU), নির্বাচন কেবল একটি আনুষ্ঠানিকতা নয়। এটি শিক্ষার্থীদের ভবিষ্যৎ, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সামগ্রিক পরিবেশ এবং শিক্ষার মানোন্নয়নে একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অধ্যায়। অতএব, এই নির্বাচনকে ঘিরে আমাদের প্রত্যাশা হওয়া উচিত সুনির্দিষ্ট, গঠনমূলক এবং স্বপ্নময়। দলীয় রাজনীতির ঊর্ধ্বে উঠে নির্বাচন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থীদের উচিত রাজনৈতিক লেজুড়বৃত্তি পরিহার করে প্রার্থীদের যোগ্যতা, সততা এবং দূরদর্শিতার ভিত্তিতে ভোট প্রদান করা। দলীয় সংকীর্ণতার ঊর্ধ্বে উঠে এমন সৎ ও দক্ষ নেতৃত্ব নির্বাচন করাই হোক এ নির্বাচনের প্রধান লক্ষ্য, যারা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রকৃত স্বার্থে কাজ করতে সক্ষম। বাংলাদেশের ছাত্ররাজনীতিতে বিরাজমান অসুস্থ প্রতিযোগিতা, হানাহানি এবং দখলদারিত্বের অপসংস্কৃতি চিরতরে দূর করা জরুরি। বিশ্বের উন্নত দেশগুলোর ছাত্র সংসদগুলো শিক্ষার্থীদের অধিকার রক্ষা এবং লেখাপড়া সংক্রান্ত সমস্যা সমাধানে গঠনমূলক ভূমিকা পালন করে। আমাদেরও এমন সুস্থ ও কল্যাণমুখী ছাত্ররাজনীতির ধারা ফিরিয়ে আনতে হবে। এই ধারায় শিক্ষার্থীদের মূল লক্ষ্য হবে পড়াশোনা, শিক্ষা-সংক্রান্ত সমস্যার সমাধান এবং অধিকার রক্ষায় গঠনমূলক ভূমিকা পালন। শিক্ষার মান এবং গবেষণার উৎকর্ষতা এক সময় ‘প্রাচ্যের অক্সফোর্ড’ হিসেবে খ্যাত ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় আজ আন্তর্জাতিক মানদণ্ডে, বিভিন্ন র্যাংকিংয়ে অনেক পিছিয়ে রয়েছে। এর প্রধান কারণ শিক্ষার গুণগত মান এবং গবেষণায় পর্যাপ্ত মনোযোগের অভাব। নির্বাচিত ছাত্র প্রতিনিধিদের প্রধান দায়িত্ব হবে শিক্ষার মান উন্নয়ন এবং গবেষণার প্রসারে কার্যকর পদক্ষেপ নেওয়া। গবেষণা খাতে বাজেট বৃদ্ধি এবং শিক্ষার্থীদের গবেষণামূলক কাজে উৎসাহিত করা অত্যন্ত জরুরি। এটি কেবল একাডেমিক উৎকর্ষতাই বাড়াবে না, বরং আন্তর্জাতিক অঙ্গনে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মর্যাদাও উন্নত করবে। আমরা স্বপ্ন দেখি, ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থীরা আন্তর্জাতিক কনফারেন্স বা সেমিনারে গবেষণাপত্র উপস্থাপনের জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় আর্থিক সহায়তা পাবে, যেমনটি বিশ্বের উন্নত বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থীরা পায়। আন্তর্জাতিক মান এবং আধুনিক অবকাঠামো এক সময় পার্শ্ববর্তী দেশগুলো, এমনকি মালয়েশিয়া ও সিঙ্গাপুর থেকেও বহু শিক্ষার্থী ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে পড়তে আসত। আজ সেই ধারা একেবারে বিলুপ্ত। এর মূল কারণ উচ্চশিক্ষায় আন্তর্জাতিক মানের সঙ্গে তাল মেলাতে না পারা এবং অবকাঠামোগত সীমাবদ্ধতা। ডাকসু প্রতিনিধিদের উচিত বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মৌলিক সুযোগ-সুবিধা নিশ্চিত করতে কার্যকর পদক্ষেপ নেওয়া। বিশেষ করে, অস্বাস্থ্যকর টয়লেটের মতো অবকাঠামোগত সমস্যার দ্রুত সমাধান জরুরি। একই সঙ্গে, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়কে বিশ্বমানের করে গড়ে তুলতে উদ্যোগ নেওয়া এবং এ বিষয়ে প্রশাসনের সঙ্গে সক্রিয়ভাবে সহযোগিতা করা প্রয়োজন। সুস্থ পরিবেশ এবং যোগ্য নেতৃত্ব ডাকসুর ভূমিকা শিক্ষার সুস্থ পরিবেশ গড়ে তুলতে এবং দক্ষ নেতৃত্ব প্রতিষ্ঠায় অপরিসীম। শিক্ষকদের প্রতি যথাযথ সম্মান প্রদর্শন এবং বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রশাসনের সঙ্গে সহযোগিতা করা প্রত্যেক শিক্ষার্থীর দায়িত্ব। কোনো পরিস্থিতিতেই আইন নিজের হাতে তুলে বিশৃঙ্খলা সৃষ্টি করা কাম্য নয়। আমরা আন্তরিকভাবে প্রত্যাশা করি, এই নির্বাচনের মাধ্যমে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে এমন সৎ ও দূরদর্শী নেতৃত্ব আসুক, যারা এই প্রতিষ্ঠানের হারানো গৌরব পুনরুদ্ধারে সক্ষম হবে। সংক্ষেপে, ডাকসু নির্বাচন হোক এক নতুন দিগন্তের সূচনা, যা শিক্ষার্থীদের নেতৃত্বকে দলীয় সংকীর্ণতার ঊর্ধ্বে নিয়ে যাবে। আমরা প্রত্যাশা করি, এই নির্বাচনের মাধ্যমে এমন নেতৃত্ব উঠে আসবে, যারা শিক্ষার গুণগত উন্নয়ন, গবেষণার প্রসার এবং আধুনিক অবকাঠামো নিশ্চিত করে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়কে তার হারানো গৌরবে ফিরিয়ে আনবে। প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানী উপাচার্য ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি

Eastern University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Samarkand State Architecture and Construction University, Uzbekistan, at its campus today. Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Honorable Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, signed on behalf of EU, while Mr. Ferhan Kara, Advisor to the Rector, signed on behalf of Samarkand State Architecture and Construction University. The signing ceremony was also joined online by Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Canbay Türkyılmaz, Rector, and Prof. Dr. Emrah Türkyılmaz from Turkey. The MoU establishes a framework for academic cooperation, including joint supervision of Master’s and PhD programs, student and faculty exchanges, internships, collaborative research, and joint seminars and workshops. It also paves the way for sharing academic resources, scholarships for meritorious students, and joint certificate courses. Professor Dr. Sobhani expressed optimism that this partnership will create new global opportunities for Eastern University students and graduates, enhancing their prospects in higher studies, research, and careers abroad. Eastern University (EU) inaugurated the Eastern University Research Society (EURS), marking a significant difference in advancing research and innovation at the university. The ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University, as Chief Guest, who unveiled the EURS logo. In his address, he highlighted the vital role of research in higher education and described the society as a “new beginning” for fostering innovation, knowledge-sharing, and academic excellence at EU. Special Guests included Dr. Abul Bashar Khan, Registrar, Prof. Dr. M. Sayedur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, and Prof. Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, who encouraged students to actively participate in research activities. As part of the program, Dr. Md. Zahurul Haq, Associate Professor, Department of Law, conducted a keynote workshop on “How to Write a Conference Paper,” designed to guide young researchers in developing strong academic writing skills for national and international platforms. The event was chaired by Dr. Abu Bin Ihsan, Chairperson, Department of Pharmacy, and Chief Coordinator of EURS, who shared the society’s vision and future plans while inviting students and faculty members to contribute to building a robust research culture at EU.
