Understanding that effective legal education goes beyond textbooks, EUMCS offers its members hands-on experience through simulated court proceedings that closely replicate real-world judicial environments. Our society actively participates in renowned national and international moot court competitions, providing students with invaluable opportunities to engage with diverse legal issues, sharpen their oral and written advocacy skills, and develop a global perspective on law. These competitions challenge members to think critically, conduct in-depth research, and present compelling legal arguments, preparing them for the demands of the legal profession. The Department of English at Eastern University hosted the Freshers' Reception on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, in the Conference Room of EU to welcome the newly admitted students of Summer 2025 semester. The program aimed to introduce the new students to the department’s core values, mission, academic frameworks, and institutional policies, providing them with a comprehensive understanding of their academic environment. Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, the Vice Chancellor of Eastern University attended the ceremony as the chief guest. The program was presided over by Md. Rofiussan, the Chairperson of the Department of English. In his opening remarks, Md. Rofiussan warmly welcomed all newly admitted students of Summer 2025 semester. He highlighted the department's long-standing academic practices and the legacy of excellence that the Department of English is known for. The faculty members of the department introduced themselves to the students, initiating an academic and professional rapport with the incoming students. Dr. Farid Ahammad Sobhani delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the importance of academic rigor, effective communication, and collaborative learning in today’s fast-evolving academic landscape. His speech motivated students to engage in intellectual pursuit and uphold high standards in their academic journey. To help the students navigate their academic and administrative responsibilities, Najnin Parvin, the Assistant Registrar of the Department of English, demonstrated how to use the student portal on the university’s website. She explained how they can access essential information regarding registration, track their academic performance, and manage financial details, equipping them with the necessary tools for academic success. The program was coordinated by Khaled Mahmud, Lecturer in the Department of English, and was hosted by Shafayat Hossain, President of the Eastern University English Club, and Amana Akter Akhi, Visual Media Curator of the same club. Concluding the program, Md. Rofiussan extended special thanks to the Eastern University English Club for their cooperation and wished the new students every success in their academic journey.

The Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department of Eastern University hosted a splendid 'Orientation Program' on 07 July 2025 at the Rezakul Haider Hall, EU for students enrolled in the Summer 2025 semester. The program was a blend of formal welcomes and interactive sessions of academic an administrative rules aimed at integrating the newcomers into the vibrant CSE community. Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Honorable Vice Chancellor of Eastern University was present as the chief guest, Professor Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology was the special guest and the Chairperson of CSE, Muhammad Mahfuz Hasan, was the session chair of this program. At the beginning of the program, as a Chairperson of the Department, Muhammad Mahfuz Hasan, heartily welcomed all admitted students of Summer 2025 and introduced the well acclaimed faculty members of the Department of CSE. Followed by the introduction of CSE, class routine, academic and examination rules was illustrated by the Chairperson of CSE department. The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the importance of academic excellence, personal growth and community involvement. He encouraged students to take full advantage of the resources available at the university and to actively participate in campus life. At the end of the program the executive committee of Eastern University Computing Club (EUCC) was introduced to the admitted students of Summer 2025. The program was hosted by Puspita Helal, a final year student of CSE department.

An MoA was signed on 1st July 2025, between Eastern University and the Daffodil Response Center (DRC) at the Eastern University campus, Ashulia Model Town, Dhaka. The agreement aims to strengthen capacity building and institutional branding of Eastern University. Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, and Dr. Mohammad Nuruzzaman, Chief Executive Officer of the Daffodil Family, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions. This collaboration seeks to enhance institutional capacity through professional engagement and the development of advanced skills among relevant officials. It is expected to contribute to improved enrollment quality, greater empowerment, and stronger collaboration between the two institutions. This milestone agreement marks the beginning of a long-term, impactful partnership that is expected to yield mutual benefits and sustainable success. The signing ceremony was attended by the Registrar, Deans of various faculties, Departmental Chairpersons, section heads of administrative units, and senior officials from DRC.

A seminar titled "Prospects of Higher Studies and International Work Permit Visa in Japan" held on 30th June 2025 at University's Rezakul Haider Hall, Ashulia Model Town, Dhaka. The Chief Guest at the event was Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Vice Chancellor of Eastern University. The Special guests were Mr. Morisu Narita, CEO of Winkle Inc. (Japan), and Mr. Md. Rafiqul Islam, Managing Director of Samaira Group and MP Travels Ltd. The seminar was chaired by Professor Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at Eastern University. Professor Dr. M. Sayedur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, was also present as a respected guest. Other speakers at the event included Associate Professor Syed Habib Anwar Pasha, Chairperson of the Department of Business Administration, and Ms. Rakhi Roy, Coordinator at Samaira Group. The overall coordination of the event was managed by Mr. K. M. Monirul Islam, Deputy Director of Career Services and International Office and Office of the Student Affairs at the university. At this event, university graduate students Umme Sumaiya Hossain and Ratna Akter Badhon shared their experiences after completing their internships in Japan. They recently returned to the country after finishing their internships in Tokyo, Japan. They encouraged everyone to pursue higher education opportunities in Japan. The speakers shared important information about studying in Japan, how to get a student or work visa, and job opportunities in Japanese companies. The seminar helped students learn about real steps to build a career abroad, especially in Japan. One great example of success is Md. Mansurul Haque Rashed, a recent graduate from the Department of Business Administration. He got a full-time job at Mon Napoleon Co. Ltd. in Japan after completing a competitive internship program. This was possible through the university’s collaboration with Samaira Group and Othelo Financial Institution, Japan. This success was made possible by the leadership of Prof. Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at Eastern University. This seminar showed Eastern University’s strong dedication to helping students build international careers. Many graduates from Eastern University are now studying and working in Japan, making the university proud.

২০২৫ সালের এশিয়া কাপ ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ল’ মুট কোর্ট প্রতিযোগিতার চূড়ান্ত মৌখিক পর্বে অংশগ্রহণের জন্য বাংলাদেশ থেকে অংশগ্রহণকারী দলগুলোর মধ্যে সেরা দল হিসেবে নির্বাচিত হয়েছে ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির মুট কোর্ট টিম। জাপানিজ সোসাইটি অব ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ল’ এবং জাপান সরকারের পররাষ্ট্র বিষয়ক মন্ত্রণালয় আয়োজিত এই মর্যাদাপূর্ণ প্রতিযোগিতাটি আগামী ৫–৬ আগস্ট ২০২৫, জাপানের টোকিও শহরে অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। গতকাল ২৫ জুন (বুধবার), বিজয়ী দলের সদস্যদের অভ্যর্থনা জানান ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির ট্রাস্টি বোর্ডের চেয়ারম্যান মোঃ মনিরুজ্জামান মোল্লা। এ সময় উপস্থিত ছিলেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানী, রেজিস্ট্রার ড. আবুল বাশার, আইন বিভাগের ডিন এবিএম ইমদাদুল হক খান, প্রমুখ। বিজয়ী দলের সদস্যরা হলেন আইন বিভাগের শিক্ষার্থী সাকিব খোন্দকার, জোনায়েদ আল রাতুল রাসেল ও মেহনাজ রহমান। দলটির কোচ ছিলেন আইন বিভাগের শিক্ষক মুহাঃ ওমর ফারুক। প্রতিযোগীতার আন্তর্জাতিক পর্বে অংশগ্রহণের জন্যে ইচ্ছুক এশিয়ার বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়গুলো প্রাথমিকভাবে মেমোরিয়াল (লিখিত সাবমিশন) রাউন্ডে লড়াইয়ে অবতীর্ণ হয়; সেখান থেকে এশিয়ার মনোনীত ১৪টি দেশের প্রতিটি থেকে মাত্র ১টি করে এবং জাপান থেকে ২টি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় মৌখিক রাউন্ডের জন্যে উন্নীত হয়। এবারের আসরে, এশিয়ার বিভিন্ন দেশ থেকে অংশগ্রহণকারী ৭৩টি প্রতিযোগী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মাঝে নির্বাচিত মাত্র ১৬টি দলের মধ্যে স্থান করে নিয়েছে ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি মুট কোর্ট সোসাইটির (EUMCS) দলটি। এই দলটি শুধু ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটিকেই প্রতিনিধিত্ব করছে না, বরং ¬—আন্তর্জাতিক আইন শিক্ষার এশিয়ার সেরা প্ল্যাটফর্ম হিসেবে বিবেচিত এই আয়োজনে, বাংলাদেশকে প্রতিনিধিত্ব করছে দলটি। এই অসাধারণ অর্জন ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির শিক্ষার্থীদের নিষ্ঠা, মেধা ও কঠোর পরিশ্রমের পাশাপাশি, মানসম্পন্ন আইন শিক্ষা এবং আন্তর্জাতিক শিক্ষাঙ্গনে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ক্রমবর্ধমান অগ্রগতির দৃঢ় উপস্থাপন। এশিয়া কাপ ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ল’ মুট কোর্ট কম্পিটিশন ১৯৯৯ সালে টোকিওতে শুরু হয়, যার উদ্যোক্তা ছিলেন টোকিও বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অধ্যাপক সুতসুই ওয়াকামিজু। প্রথমে “জাপান কাপ” নামে পরিচিত এই প্রতিযোগিতা এখন এশিয়ার ভবিষ্যৎ আইনজীবীদের মধ্যে সাংস্কৃতিক বিনিময় ও বন্ধুত্ব গড়ে তোলার জন্য সেরা প্লাটফর্ম হিসেবে বহুল প্রশংসিত। ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির আইন অনুষদ এবং এর মুট কোর্ট সোসাইটি আন্তরিক কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করছে সংশ্লিষ্ট সকলকে, যাদের সহায়তায় অর্জন সম্ভব হয়েছে এই অসাধারণ সাফল্যের।

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Eastern University (EU) and the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB). The signing ceremony was held on 24th June 2025 at the Conference Hall of Eastern University, Dhaka. The MoU was signed by Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Vice Chancellor on behalf of Eastern University, and Mr. Md. Kausar Alam, Vice President on behalf of ICMAB. The presence at the MoU signing ceremony included the university’s Deans, Registrar, Chairpersons of departments, and Heads of various administrative sections. Notable attendees were Professor Dr. M. Sayedur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration; Professor Dr. Md. Abbas Ali Khan, Distinguished Professor; Professor Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology; Dr. Abul Bashar Khan, Registrar; Professor Dr. Abdullah Al-Humayn, Chairperson of the Department of EEE; Professor Ashraf Hossain, Director of IQAC; Dr. Abdur Rahman, Director of IFBI; Syed Habib Anwar Pasha, Chairperson of the Department of Business Administration and Mr. Md. Abdul Maleque, Additional Director and Head of Education Department, ICMAB along with other representatives and officials from both institutions. Under this MoU, the students and graduates of the BBA and MBA programs of Eastern University will be eligible for exemptions up-to six courses at ICMAB. Moreover, based on their academic results at the university, they will receive special scholarships upon admission to the CMA qualification program. Eastern University and ICMAB will also be able to undertake joint academic initiatives, which will be mutually beneficial for both institutions.

ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি ক্যাম্পাসে উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানীর সভাপতিত্বে তার কার্যালয়ে এক বিশেষ সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। সভায় আশুলিয়া এলাকায় অবস্থিত বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়সমূহের উপাচার্য ও প্রতিনিধিগন অংশগ্রহণ করেন। সভায় উচ্চ শিক্ষার প্রসার ও প্রশাসনিক উন্নয়নে পারস্পরিক সহযোগিতা নিয়ে আলোচনা করা হয়। এতে উপস্থিত ছিলেন এশিয়ান ইউনিভার্সিটি অব বাংলাদেশের উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক ড. শাহজাহান খান, মানারাত ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ইউনিভার্সিটির উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক ড. মোহাম্মদ আব্দুর রব, সিটি ইউনিভার্সিটির ভারপ্রাপ্ত উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক কাজী শাহদাত কবির (প্রো-ভিসি) এবং ড্যাফোডিল ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ইউনিভার্সিটির উপাচার্যের পক্ষে অধ্যাপক এম. আর. কবির। সভায় আরও উপস্থিত ছিলেন ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির রেজিস্ট্রার ড. আবুল বাশার খান, মানারাত ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ইউনিভার্সিটির রেজিস্ট্রার ড. মো. মোয়াজ্জেম হোসেন এবং ড্যাফোডিল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের পরিকল্পনা ও উন্নয়ন বিভাগের পরিচালক মেজর মো. আরমান আলী ভূইয়া (অব.)। সভায় আশুলিয়ায় অবস্থিত বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়সমূহের মধ্যে সহযোগিতার ভিত্তিতে বিভিন্ন কার্যক্রম পরিচালনা সম্পর্কে আলোচনা করা হয়। এতে সম্মিলিত উদ্যোগে শিক্ষার মানোন্নয়ন, গবেষণা, অবকাঠামোগত উন্নয়ন, খেলাধুলার ব্যবস্থা, মাদকমুক্ত এলাকা তৈরী, যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থার উন্নয়ন এবং শান্তিপূর্ণ সহাবস্থান এর ব্যাপারে বিস্তারিত আলোচনা হয় এবং সকলে একত্রে কাজ করার বিষয়ে ঐক্যমত পোষন করা হয়। সভায় আফ্রিকার গাম্বিয়ায় অবস্থিত আই.ও.ইউ (IOU) ভার্সিটির সাথে যৌথ উদ্যোগে একটি আন্তর্জাতিক সম্মেলন আয়োজনের বিষয়ে আলোচনা হয় যা আগামী অক্টোবর ২০২৫-এ ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি ক্যাম্পাসে অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। এতে আশুলিয়াস্থ সকল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় অংশগ্রহন করবে বলে নীতিগতভাবে সিদ্বান্ত গৃহিত হয়। উক্ত সভা আয়োজনের জন্য ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটিকে বিশেষ ধন্যবাদ জ্ঞাপন করা হয়। সভার সভাপতি উপাচার্য প্রফেসর সোবহানী সবাইকে ধন্যবাদ জানিয়ে সভার সমাপ্তি করেন।

Eastern University proudly announces that its moot court team has reached another major milestone, being selected as the sole team from Bangladesh to qualify for the Oral Rounds of the Asia Cup International Law Moot Court Competition 2025. This prestigious event is scheduled take place on August 5–6, 2025, in Tokyo, Japan. The Eastern University Moot Court Society (EUMCS) team has been distinguished as one of only 16 teams from across the continent to advance to the final oral phase of this highly competitive International Law moot court competition. This achievement highlights not only the students’ hard work and talent but also the university’s dedication to quality legal education and its growing presence in international academic circles. The triumphant team from the Eastern University Moot Court Society (EUMCS) consists of Md. Sakib Khondoker, Jonayed Al Ratul Rasel and Mehanaj Rahaman. Their rigorous preparation, sharp legal analysis, and compelling written memorials set them apart in a field of numerous universities vying for a spot in the final rounds. The Asia Cup is one of the most respected moot court competitions in International Law. It began in 1999 in Tokyo, initiated by Professor Tsutsui Wakamizu of the University of Tokyo. Originally known as the "Japan Cup," the competition has grown into a platform for the brightest legal minds from across Asia. It is celebrated not only for its academic excellence but also for encouraging cultural exchange and building friendships among future legal professionals from the continent. This success would not have been possible without the tireless support and guidance of the team’s coaches, faculty members, and fellow students. From helping the team navigate complex international legal issues to offering constant moral and academic support, their contribution played a vital role in this journey. গতকাল ০২ জুন, ২০২৫ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের রেজাকুল হায়দার হলে মাননীয় উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানীর সভাপতিত্বে কর্মচারীদের সাথে এক মতবিনিময় সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। এতে কর্মচারীদের কাজের পরিবেশ ও বিভিন্ন সুবিধা-অসুবিধা নিয়ে প্রাণবন্ত আলোচনা করা হয়। উক্ত অনুষ্ঠানে বক্তব্য রাখেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের রেজিস্ট্রার ড. আবুল বাশার খান (সঞ্চালক), ট্রেজারার প্রফেসর মো. শামসুল হুদা এবং জনসংযোগ বিভাগের সহকারী পরিচালক মো. মহিউদ্দীন মজুমদার। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বিভিন্ন সেকশনের প্রধানগণ এ সভায় অংশ নেন। মাননীয় উপাচার্য বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সার্বিক কল্যাণে কর্মচারীদের কাজের গুরুত্ব তুলে ধরেন এবং সবাইকে নিষ্ঠার সাথে দায়িত্ব পালনের আহ্বান জানান। তিনি আশাবাদ ব্যক্ত করে বলেন, সকলের সহযোগিতায় এ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়কে দক্ষিণ এশিয়ায় অন্যতম শ্রেষ্ঠ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে পরিণত করা সম্ভব।

The Department of English, Eastern University organized a colorful event marking the inauguration of the wall magazine, Think, and Shakespeare Fest-2025 on Monday, May 20, 2025. Professor Md. Shamsul Huda, Vice Chancellor (Acting) of Eastern University, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Md. Rofiussan, Assistant Professor and Chairperson of the Department of English, presided over the ceremony. The program commenced with the inauguration of the wall magazine, Think, a regular platform of the department that brings to light the creative writings such as poems, short stories, and essays of both students and faculty members of the Department of English, Eastern University. The whole process of bringing out the wall magazine was directly supervised by Humaira Shegufta Chowdhury, Senior Lecturer, Department of English. The inauguration ceremony was followed by Shakespeare Fest 2025, an event organized to commemorate the birth anniversary of William Shakespeare, legendary English poet and playwright. In his welcome speech, the chairperson of the Department of English, Md. Rofiussan, pointed out the importance of Shakespeare’s contributions to English language and literature calling upon the students to explore his works more intimately. After that a series of engaging contests centering on Shakespeare’s life and works swept off the audience. One of the highlights was the skit competition, where students put on both solo and group performances from different Shakespearean plays like The Merchant of Venice and Macbeth. These performances brought the Bard’s works to life. Additionally, under the supervision of Khaled Mahmud, Lecturer, Department of English, first-semester students arranged a poster presentation displaying their illustrations of various themes from Shakespeare’s plays and sonnets. The event also featured a poetry competition, where students recited different Shakespearean sonnets. An instant quiz on Shakespeare’s life and works took place to test the participating students’ knowledge in a playful manner. Later on, Professor Shamsul Huda, honorable Vice Chancellor (Acting) of EU gave away the Prizes to the winners of the competitions recognizing their brilliance and creativity. The whole ceremony was conducted by Kazi Tahmina, Assistant Professor, Department of English. In the concluding speech, Professor Shamsul Huda, honorable Vice Chancellor (Acting), praised the students highly for their mesmerizing performances and appreciated the faculty members for their collaborative efforts in organizing this successful program. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in promoting a love for literature and critical thinking among students of the Department of English. Shakespeare Fest-2025 has, undoubtedly, left a lasting impression on all attendees inspiring a renewed appreciation for art and literature.

His appointment was made by the Chancellor of the University and Hon’ble President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Prior to this role, Prof. Dr. Sobhani served as Professor at the School of Business and Economics and Director of the Center for International Affairs and Cooperation (CIAC) at United International University (UIU). He also held the positions of Professor and Dean at the Human Resource Development Institute (HRDI) of Daffodil International University, and Professor and Dean at the Faculty of Business Studies, International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC). Additionally, he served as Director of the MBA Program at the School of Business and Economics, UIU. Prof. Sobhani currently serves as a Visiting Professor at Sol Plaatje University, South Africa; and a Research Fellow at the Australian Academy of Business Leadership in Sydney. He also serves as the President of the Bangladesh Society for Private University Academics (BSPUA) and Vice-President of the Federation of Bangladesh Human Resource Organizations (FBHRO). He served as a Visiting Professor at the Accounting Research Institute (ARI) of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia. He has also served as an External Member of the Curriculum Committee at Rajshahi University and the PhD Program Committee at the Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). Furthermore, he held the position of Editor of the Australian Journal of Accounting, Economics, and Finance, published from Sydney. An accomplished academic, Dr. Sobhani holds a BBA and MBA in Accounting from the University of Chittagong, a second Master’s in Project Management from the University of Antwerp, Belgium, and a PhD from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). He has published nearly 100 research articles in national and international journals covering accounting, corporate disclosure, human resource management, and leadership. A native of Pakundia Upazila, Kishoreganj, Dr. Sobhani’s appointment was celebrated in a reception ceremony held at the University Conference Room. Enhancing Digital Government and Economy (EDGE) Project Digital Skills Training to Students Organizer: IIT, Jahangirnagar University Venue: Dept of CSE, Eastern University We are thrilled to share that the orientation of Digital Skills Training for students, a premier learning opportunity presented by the EDGE Project of the Bangladesh Computer Council, ICT Division was held on 12 May 2025 at the Computer lab of CSE dept., Eastern University. 75 students from Law department are participating at 60 hours MS Office tools training program to enhance their technological capabilities. In his valuable speech, Prof. Md. Shamsul Huda, Vice Chancellor (Acting) of EU highlighted how new technologies like AI and robotics are changing job fields and why learning of digital skills is so important now-a-days. A.B.M. A signing ceremony of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday between the International Labour Organization (ILO) and 13 public and private universities across Bangladesh, including Eastern University was held to integrate International Labour Standards (ILS) in Labour Law curricula. The formal signing ceremony took place on Thursday, 8 May 2025, at Dhaka between the ILO and representatives from partner universities. Eastern University was officially represented by Mr. A.B.M. Imdadul Haque Khan, Dean, Faculty of Law, who signed the MoU on behalf of the University. Recognizing the vital role universities play in shaping future legal professionals, this ILO-initiated partnership with Bangladeshi universities aims to support labour law lecturers and enable them to design and deliver a model curriculum grounded in ILS and enriched with real-world insights. A key component of the project aims at ensuring that Bangladesh's labour laws align more closely with ILS and that the application of these laws is enhanced. After the signing ceremony, an engaging introductory session on International Labour Standards was organized for faculty members, aimed at strengthening their capacity and understanding in this area. Mr. Tanzim Mohammed, Lecturer, Faculty of Law and Mr. Munaem Khan, Lecturer, Faculty of Law participated in this session on behalf of Eastern University. The initiative is a part of the Advancing Decent Work in Bangladesh (ADWIB) project under the Team Europe Initiative (TEI) on Decent Work in Bangladesh funded by the European Union, Denmark, Sweden, and the Netherlands.

The Faculty of Law at Eastern University, in collaboration with the Eastern University Moot Court Society (EUMCS), successfully hosted a workshop titled “Knowing the Nuts and Bolts of the Mooting Vessel: An Introduction to Mooting” on Sunday, 13 April 2025, at Rezakul Haider Hall, Eastern University. The workshop was designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of mooting and served as a preparatory step for the upcoming 5th Intra-Department Moot Court Competition (IDMCC) 2025. With enthusiastic student participation and guidance from experienced legal professionals, the event turned out to be both informative and inspiring. The Independence Day 2nd Inter-department Cricket Tournament was officially inaugurated on 21 April 2025 at the Eastern University Playground. A total of eight teams are participating in the tournament, including a team comprising faculty members and officials, aimed at fostering stronger bonds between students, faculty and officials. Professor Md. Shamsul Huda, Acting Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University, unveiled the tournament trophy and formally declared the event open. Dr. Abul Basher Khan, Registrar of Eastern University, along with chairpersons of academic departments, faculty members, and officials, were also present at the opening ceremony. The tournament group matches will take place from 21 to 23 April 2025, providing a platform for participants to demonstrate their talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Following the rally, a flag hoisting ceremony was held, attended by the Honorable Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Md. Shamsul Huda, who served as the Chief Guest. The event was also graced by the presence of the Registrar, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, faculty members, and other university officials, who gathered to commemorate the significance of National Scout Day. Professor Md. Shamsul Huda expressed his appreciation for the students’ active participation in the Scout Movement. He emphasized the importance of scouting in shaping responsible citizens and future leaders, urging students to uphold the values of teamwork, leadership, and service to society throughout their academic journeys and beyond. সোমবার, ৭ এপ্রিল ২০২৫ তারিখে ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির শিক্ষার্থী, শিক্ষক ও কর্মকর্তারা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রধান ফটকের সামনে একত্রিত হয়ে ফিলিস্তিনের মানুষের প্রতি সংহতি প্রকাশ করেন। গাজায় চলমান সহিংসতা ও মানবিক সংকটের বিরুদ্ধে শান্তিপূর্ণভাবে প্রতিবাদ জানায় তারা। এ সময় অংশগ্রহণকারীরা প্ল্যাকার্ড বহন করেন এবং গাজায় চলমান সহিংসতা, দমন-নিপীড়ন ও মানবাধিকার লঙ্ঘনের তীব্র নিন্দা জানান। তারা অবিলম্বে হামলা বন্ধ এবং ফিলিস্তিনের উপর দখলদারিত্বের অবসানের দাবি জানান। উপস্থিত সকলে ফিলিস্তিনের নাগরিকদের উদ্দেশ্যে সহমর্মিতা এবং যুদ্ধবিরতীর জন্য প্রার্থনা করেন। সারা বিশ্বব্যাপি সংহতির এই বার্তার অংশ হিসেবে ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি সোমবারের সব একাডেমিক কার্যক্রম স্থগিত রাখে। এই প্রতীকী বিরতি যুদ্ধবিধ্বস্ত ফিলিস্তিনের মানুষের পাশে দাঁড়ানোর একটি যৌথ মানবিক বার্তা। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় কর্তৃপক্ষ শিক্ষার্থীদের প্রশংসা করে, যারা এই শান্তিপূর্ণ কর্মসূচি আয়োজন এবং সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধির উদ্যোগ নিয়েছে। ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি সব মানুষের জন্য মানবাধিকার, শান্তি ও ন্যায়বিচারে বিশ্বাসী।
