Eastern University, Bangladesh (EUB), and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) on 14 October 2026 to explore academic collaboration in research, and joint academic initiatives. The LoI was signed at Eastern University’s campus by Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Vice-Chancellor of EUB, and Prof. Dr. Mohd Rushdan Mohd Jailani, Dean of the Faculty of Leadership and Management at USIM. Prof. Dr. Md. Yousuf Ali, USIM Ambassador, the Treasurer, Deans, Department Heads, and other university officials were also present. The proposed collaboration includes joint research projects, research grants, postgraduate research supervision, collaborative publications, seminars, workshops, international conferences, and community service initiatives. The LoI marks an initial step toward developing mutually beneficial academic partnerships, with specific activities to be formalized through separate agreements. This initiative reflects Eastern University’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships, promoting research collaboration, and expanding global learning opportunities for students and faculty members.

Eastern University (EU) hosted a seminar titled “Pursuing Higher Education at USIM and Other Universities in Malaysia: Opportunities and Prospects” on Wednesday 14th October 2026 to inform students about higher education pathways, scholarships, and research opportunities in Malaysia. Organized by the university’s Office of International and External Affairs (OIEA), with support from the Eastern University Research Society (EURS), the seminar took place at Rezakul Haider Hall on the university campus. The event was attended by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University, Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, as Chief Guest. The keynote speaker was Prof. Dr. Mohd Rushdan Mohd Jailani, Dean of the Faculty of Leadership and Management at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). Prof. Dr. Md. Yousuf Ali, USIM Ambassador, joined the session as discussant. In his welcoming remarks, Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani highlighted Malaysia’s progress in higher education and research, as well as the international recognition of its universities. He expressed optimism that the strong relations between Bangladesh and Malaysia could create new academic and professional opportunities for students and faculty members. In his keynote address, Prof. Dr. Mohd Rushdan Mohd Jailani discussed Malaysia’s higher education system, academic programmes, and research opportunities. Prof. Dr. Md. Yousuf Ali provided practical guidance on selecting suitable universities and programmes, exploring scholarship opportunities, and pursuing higher studies and research in Malaysia. Before the seminar, the visiting USIM delegation met with faculty members from various departments at Eastern University. Discussions focused on doctoral research opportunities, pathways to higher studies, and professional development for academic staff. The seminar also featured an interactive quiz, with special gifts awarded to the top three participants. Commemorative crests were subsequently presented to the guest speakers. Dr. Abu Bin Ihsan, Director of OIEA, Dean of the School of Life Sciences, and Chief Research Coordinator of EURS, delivered the vote of thanks. Deans, Faculty members, students, researchers, and university officials from different departments attended the event. আজ ১০ অক্টোবর ২০২৬ তারিখে ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি রোভার স্কাউট গ্রুপের উদ্যোগে ৩য় দীক্ষা ক্যাম্প ও তাঁবু জলসা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। শনিবার বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রাঙ্গণে দিনব্যাপী আয়োজিত এ অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানী। রোভার স্কাউটদের দীক্ষা অনুষ্ঠানের আগে উপাচার্য নিজেও দীক্ষা গ্রহণ করেন, যা অনুষ্ঠানে বিশেষ তাৎপর্য যোগ করে। অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান স্কাউট ব্যক্তিত্ব হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন বাংলাদেশ স্কাউটস, ঢাকা জেলা রোভারের কমিশনার মু. ওমর আলী। বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন ঢাকা জেলা রোভারের সম্পাদক ড. মোহা. আককাচ আলী আকাশ এবং জেলা রোভার স্কাউট লিডার (ডিআরএসএল) ফরহাদ হোসেন। এ ছাড়া শান্ত-মারিয়াম ক্রিয়েটিভ অ্যান্ড টেকনোলজি ইউনিভার্সিটি রোভার স্কাউট গ্রুপের সম্পাদক নাসরিন জাহান, ঢাকা জেলা রোভারের জেলা রোভার স্কাউট লিডার প্রতিনিধি মোহা. খুরশেদ আলম, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বিভিন্ন অনুষদের ডিন, বিভাগীয় প্রধান, শিক্ষক, শিক্ষার্থী ও কর্মকর্তারা অনুষ্ঠানে অংশগ্রহণ করেন। দীক্ষা হলো স্কাউট আন্দোলনে প্রবেশের আনুষ্ঠানিক দ্বার। নির্ধারিত বিষয়গুলো শেখা এবং প্রয়োজনীয় প্রস্তুতি ও শর্ত পূরণের পর নির্দিষ্ট সময় শেষে একজন রোভার স্কাউট দীক্ষা গ্রহণের যোগ্যতা অর্জন করেন। দীক্ষার মাধ্যমে একজন রোভার স্কাউট স্কাউট প্রতিজ্ঞা ও আইনের আদর্শ ধারণ করে স্কাউটিংয়ের নীতি, মূল্যবোধ ও সেবার চেতনায় নিজেকে পরিচালিত করার অঙ্গীকার করেন। তাই দীক্ষা ক্যাম্প নতুন রোভারদের স্কাউট আন্দোলনের আদর্শ ও চেতনার সঙ্গে পরিচিত করার পাশাপাশি দায়িত্বশীল ও সেবাপরায়ণ নাগরিক হিসেবে গড়ে ওঠার পথে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করে। দীক্ষা ক্যাম্প ও তাঁবু জলসা রোভার স্কাউটদের জন্য একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ শিক্ষামূলক ও সহশিক্ষা কার্যক্রম। এ ধরনের আয়োজনের মাধ্যমে তরুণদের মধ্যে শৃঙ্খলা, সময়ানুবর্তিতা, নেতৃত্ব, দলগত কাজ, আত্মনির্ভরশীলতা এবং প্রতিকূল পরিস্থিতি মোকাবিলার দক্ষতা বিকাশের সুযোগ তৈরি হয়। তাঁবু স্থাপন, দলীয় কার্যক্রম ও সম্মিলিত সাংস্কৃতিক পরিবেশনার মধ্য দিয়ে অংশগ্রহণকারীরা পারস্পরিক সহযোগিতা, সৃজনশীলতা ও ভ্রাতৃত্ববোধের চর্চা করেন। স্কাউট আন্দোলনের অন্যতম লক্ষ্য হলো তরুণদের নৈতিক মূল্যবোধ, মানবিক গুণাবলি ও সেবার মানসিকতায় উদ্বুদ্ধ করে দায়িত্বশীল নাগরিক হিসেবে গড়ে তোলা। স্কাউটিংয়ের মাধ্যমে তরুণেরা নিজেদের সক্ষমতা বিকাশের পাশাপাশি সমাজ ও দেশের কল্যাণে কাজ করার অনুপ্রেরণা লাভ করেন। ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি রোভার স্কাউট গ্রুপের ৩য় দীক্ষা ক্যাম্প ও তাঁবু জলসা শিক্ষার্থীদের ব্যক্তিত্ব বিকাশ, নেতৃত্বের গুণাবলি অর্জন, সাংগঠনিক দক্ষতা বৃদ্ধি এবং দেশ ও সমাজের প্রতি দায়িত্বশীলতা জোরদারে ইতিবাচক ভূমিকা রাখবে বলে আশা করা যায়।

As part of Eastern University’s continued efforts to strengthen its global academic partnerships, a delegation from the University successfully visited three renowned universities in China: 🏛️ South China University of Technology 🚢 Guangzhou Maritime University 🎓 Guangzhou Jiaotong University During the visits, fruitful discussions were held on education, research, faculty and student exchanges, and opportunities for joint academic collaboration. The process of signing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with these universities is also underway. These initiatives are expected to further strengthen the academic and institutional ties between Eastern University and the three universities in China, opening new avenues for international collaboration, knowledge exchange, and academic opportunities. Eastern University remains committed to expanding its global partnerships and creating greater opportunities for its students, faculty members, and researchers.

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Eastern University organized a Faculty Development Program (FDP) on 5 October 2026 for the newly appointed academic staff from different departments of the University. The program was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani. The program aimed to familiarize newly appointed academic staff with the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) system, course file management, academic responsibilities, and effective teaching and learning practices. Prof. Dr. SM Shirazi, CEng, Director, IQAC, and Mr. Md. Maidul Islam, Additional Director, IQAC, served as keynote speakers and conducted sessions on OBE systems and course file management. They highlighted the importance of proper academic documentation, course planning, assessment, attainment of learning outcomes, and continuous improvement in the teaching-learning process. The Treasurer, Registrar, Deans of different Schools, and the Head of the Department of CSE also participated as resource persons. They delivered informative and motivational speeches focusing on academic responsibilities, professional development, institutional practices, and the role of newly appointed faculty members in maintaining and enhancing the quality of education at Eastern University. The program provided an opportunity for the newly appointed academic staff to gain a better understanding of the University's academic systems, quality assurance practices, and their responsibilities as members of the academic community. At the end of the program, certificates of participation were distributed to all attendees by the Vice Chancellor. The FDP was organized by IQAC as part of its ongoing initiatives to strengthen faculty development, promote OBE-based teaching and learning, and foster a culture of continuous quality improvement at Eastern University.

Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh — As part of Eastern University’s commitment to outcome-based education and practical field exposure, students from the Department of Pharmacy enrolled in the "Introduction to Public Health" course completed an educational visit to the Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMN) camps in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar over the weekend. This field study continues an academic initiative established during the previous semester, where pharmacy students visit field sites to examine large-scale public health infrastructure, emergency health delivery, and sanitation framework operations firsthand. During the visit, students evaluated key aspects of community-level public health, including disease surveillance, field-clinic administration, water and sanitation (WASH) protocols, and maternal and child health programs operating within humanitarian settings. Local healthcare coordinators and field representatives briefed the delegation on the logistical and pharmaceutical challenges involved in maintaining health standards in densely populated displaced communities. "Direct field observations provide our students with a profound understanding of epidemiological dynamics and resource management that cannot be fully replicated inside a traditional classroom," noted the course faculty. "Exposing students to real-world public health crisis management prepares them to contribute meaningfully to national and global healthcare sectors post-graduation." The Department of Pharmacy plans to continue integrating such immersive field visits into its core curriculum to reinforce theoretical learning with vital real-world context.

A new journey of learning, discovery, and global exposure begins! An eleven-member team from Eastern University is going on an International Study Tour to Guangzhou, China, from 29 September to 4 October 2026, comprising teachers, officials, and students. The tour will be joined by Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Md. Shamsul Huda, Treasurer; and Prof. Brig. Gen. Dr. A.K.M. Iqbal Azim, Dean of the School of Business, along with students and other members of the University community. During the tour, participants will visit the South China University of Technology and other universities in Guangzhou, creating opportunities for academic exchange, international networking, institutional collaboration, and learning from global higher education practices. Beyond the academic visits, the tour will offer participants an opportunity to experience the rich culture, educational environment, and landmarks of Guangzhou - making it a journey of learning both inside and outside the classroom. The Eastern University Moot Court Society (EUMCS), in association with the School of Law, Eastern University, organized a workshop titled “Navigating the River of Moot: From Facts & Law to Memorial & Oral Advocacy” on September 26, 2026, at the Rezakul Haider Hall, Permanent Campus, Eastern University. The workshop aimed to enhance students’ practical skills in legal research, memorial writing, argument development, and oral advocacy through sessions led by members of the judiciary, academia, and experienced moot court competitors. The workshop was inaugurated by Professor Dr. Farid Ahammad Sobhani, Vice-Chancellor, Eastern University, who highlighted the importance of practical learning, analytical reasoning, and advocacy skills in preparing competent legal professionals. The Technical Sessions covered key substantive issues relevant to the moot problem. Dr. Masrur Salekin, District & Sessions Judge, Bangladesh Judicial Service, conducted a session on “International Environmental Obligations Related to Water and Watercourses,” followed by Dr. Abul Hasanat, District & Sessions Judge, Bangladesh Judicial Service, who conducted a session on “International Environmental Law: Treaty Obligations and Treaty Interpretation.” Md. Ashraquur Rahman Khan, National Programme Officer for Climate Action and Human Mobility, International Organization for Migration (IOM), conducted a session on climate-displaced people, refugee status, and the human rights dimensions of climate-induced mobility. The workshop then moved to sessions focusing on the legal analysis and jurisdictional dimensions of the moot problem. Mohammad Mamunur Rashid, Head, School of Law, Eastern University, conducted a session on “Environmental Due Diligence: Transboundary Harm and State Responsibility,” while A.B.M. Imdadul Haque Khan, Dean, School of Law, Eastern University, conducted a session titled “Knowing the Forum and Jurisdictions.” The subsequent sessions focused on the practical aspects of international moot court preparation. Md. Sakib Khondoker, Moot Court Alumnus, Eastern University, Reigning National Champion of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition 2025 and recipient of the Best Counter Memorial Award at the Asia Cup International Law Moot Court Competition 2025, conducted “The Art of Memorial Writing.” Ismail Ahmed Chisty and Sanjida Haider Suha, Moot Court Alumni of Eastern University, conducted “From Memorial to Oral Rounds.” Chisty and Suha were Champions of the 2021 Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition and Bronze Awardees at the 2021 Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition (East Asia Regional Rounds). The workshop concluded with Mahir Chowdhury Abir, Moot Court Alumnus, Eastern University, conducting “The Art of Persuasive Oral Submission.” He has been recognized as Best Mooter at the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition 2024, Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition 2024, and the 14th Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition 2025. Through the workshop, participating students gained practical insights into the different stages of moot court advocacy, from understanding facts and identifying applicable law to conducting legal research, preparing memorials, developing arguments, and making effective oral submissions. The initiative reflects the commitment of the School of Law and EUMCS to experiential legal education and the development of advocacy skills among law students. The School of Law and EUMCS express their heartfelt gratitude to the District Judges’ Panel—Dr. Masrur Salekin and Dr. Abul Hasanat—for generously giving their valuable time and sharing their judicial and academic expertise with the students. The School of Law, Eastern University, and the Eastern University Moot Court Society (EUMCS) are set to organize EUMCS presents 6th Intra-Department Moot Court Competition, 2026, which will be held on 16 and 17 October 2026 at the Eastern University campus in Ashulia, Dhaka. This year's edition is particularly significant, as it is held in collaboration with The Bangladesh Dialogue (TBD), a leading civil society-led policy think tank in Bangladesh for the first time. The competition has drawn a record 26 participating teams, the highest in its history, reflecting its growing reputation as one of the most anticipated mooting events from one of the premier law schools in the country. The event will bring together an exceptional panel of adjudicators, including legal practitioners, serving judges, academicians, policy researchers, and accomplished former mooters. The final round will be adjudicated by Mr. Justice Md. Rezaul Haque, Judge, Appellate Division, Supreme Court of Bangladesh, alongside Barrister Aneek R. Haque, Additional Attorney General. Their presence underscores the competition's standing as a leading platform for nurturing Bangladesh's next generation of legal advocates. The 2026 moot problem presents a fictional dispute between two sovereign states, engaging participants with complex and contemporary questions of International Law. The competition explores themes drawn from International Environmental Law, International Watercourse Law, the Law of Treaties, and Customary International Law. Participants will grapple with issues such as the legal interest of states to enforce obligations owed to the international community, the utilization of shared watercourses in conflict with environmental requirements, transboundary environmental harm, and foundational principles including the no harm principle and the precautionary principle. These themes carry profound relevance in the present times, as the world confronts escalating climate crises, deepening water scarcity, and the increasingly urgent need for robust legal frameworks to govern transboundary natural resources. For Bangladesh, a nation acutely vulnerable to the effects of climate change and dependent on shared river systems, these questions are not merely academic rather they sit at the heart of the country's environmental security and diplomatic priorities. The Eastern University Moot Court Society (EUMCS), in association with the School of Law, Eastern University, organized a workshop titled “Navigating the River of Moot: From Facts & Law to Memorial & Oral Advocacy” on September 26, 2026, at the Rezakul Haider Hall, Permanent Campus, Eastern University. The workshop aimed to enhance students’ practical skills in legal research, memorial writing, argument development, and oral advocacy through sessions led by members of the judiciary, academia, and experienced moot court competitors. The workshop was inaugurated by Professor Dr. Farid Ahammad Sobhani, Vice-Chancellor, Eastern University, who highlighted the importance of practical learning, analytical reasoning, and advocacy skills in preparing competent legal professionals. The Technical Sessions covered key substantive issues relevant to the moot problem. Dr. Masrur Salekin, District & Sessions Judge, Bangladesh Judicial Service, conducted a session on “International Environmental Obligations Related to Water and Watercourses,” followed by Dr. Abul Hasanat, District & Sessions Judge, Bangladesh Judicial Service, who conducted a session on “International Environmental Law: Treaty Obligations and Treaty Interpretation.” Md. Ashraquur Rahman Khan, National Programme Officer for Climate Action and Human Mobility, International Organization for Migration (IOM), conducted a session on climate-displaced people, refugee status, and the human rights dimensions of climate-induced mobility. The workshop then moved to sessions focusing on the legal analysis and jurisdictional dimensions of the moot problem. Mohammad Mamunur Rashid, Head, School of Law, Eastern University, conducted a session on “Environmental Due Diligence: Transboundary Harm and State Responsibility,” while A.B.M. Imdadul Haque Khan, Dean, School of Law, Eastern University, conducted a session titled “Knowing the Forum and Jurisdictions.” The subsequent sessions focused on the practical aspects of international moot court preparation. Md. Sakib Khondoker, Moot Court Alumnus, Eastern University, Reigning National Champion of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition 2025 and recipient of the Best Counter Memorial Award at the Asia Cup International Law Moot Court Competition 2025, conducted “The Art of Memorial Writing.” Ismail Ahmed Chisty and Sanjida Haider Suha, Moot Court Alumni of Eastern University, conducted “From Memorial to Oral Rounds.” Chisty and Suha were Champions of the 2021 Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition and Bronze Awardees at the 2021 Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition (East Asia Regional Rounds). The workshop concluded with Mahir Chowdhury Abir, Moot Court Alumnus, Eastern University, conducting “The Art of Persuasive Oral Submission.” He has been recognized as Best Mooter at the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition 2024, Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition 2024, and the 14th Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition 2025. Through the workshop, participating students gained practical insights into the different stages of moot court advocacy, from understanding facts and identifying applicable law to conducting legal research, preparing memorials, developing arguments, and making effective oral submissions. The initiative reflects the commitment of the School of Law and EUMCS to experiential legal education and the development of advocacy skills among law students. The School of Law and EUMCS express their heartfelt gratitude to the District Judges’ Panel—Dr. Masrur Salekin and Dr. Abul Hasanat—for generously giving their valuable time and sharing their judicial and academic expertise with the students. Officials from both Eastern University and Tasty Treat were present at the inauguration ceremony. Eastern University’s Department of Pharmacy, in collaboration with the Eastern University Pharma Club (EUPC), successfully observed World Pharmacists Day 2026 under the theme "Empowering pharmacists for healthier futures." The day began with a symbol of harmony as pigeons were released into the sky, followed by an enthusiastic rally showcasing the crucial contribution of pharmacists to society. To promote environmental sustainability, a tree plantation program was also conducted on campus. The central discussion program at Rezakul Haider Hall was graced by Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Honorable Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, as the Chief Guest. The Office of the Counselor, Eastern University, organized a workshop on “Stress Management” for the students of the Department of Law on 22 September 2026 at the Eastern University Seminar Hall. The workshop was conducted by Munia Zahan Mony, Psychology Counselor, Eastern University. The session focused on helping students understand stress, its common causes, and its effects on psychological and physical well-being. The discussion also highlighted the difference between helpful (positive) stress and harmful (negative) stress, enabling students to recognize when stress can be motivating and when it may become overwhelming or detrimental. During the workshop, students were introduced to common signs and symptoms of stress and discussed how unhealthy coping strategies can negatively affect both mental and physical health. The session emphasized the importance of adopting healthy coping mechanisms, including relaxation techniques, positive thinking, effective time management, maintaining healthy routines, seeking social support, and expressing emotions in constructive ways. In his address, he shared valuable insights and guidance with the participants and emphasized the significance of innovation and entrepreneurial initiatives in developing future business leaders. Professor Brigadier General Dr. A K M Iqbal Azim, ndc, psc, G+ (Retd), Dean, School of Business, Eastern University, attended the program as the Guest of Honor. In his remarks, he inspired the participants and highlighted the importance of creativity, innovation, critical thinking, and entrepreneurial mindset in addressing contemporary business challenges. Following the competition, a Prize Giving Ceremony was organized to recognize the outstanding performances of the participants. Eastern University organized a professional development masterclass titled “Personal Branding & Team Building: Building a Stronger Professional Identity and Stronger Teams” on September 13, 2026. Coordinated by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the program brought together deans, heads of departments, academic leaders, and administrative officials. The keynote presentation was delivered by Dr. Md. Musharrof Hossain, President of the Federation of Bangladesh Human Resource Organizations (FBHRO) and HR Advisor at icddr,b. He highlighted that personal branding is built through expertise, communication, character, contribution, and visibility. He also emphasized that a strong personal brand should enhance teamwork rather than compete with it. Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University along with the members of Board of Trustees (BoT) attended the program and appreciated the initiative to strengthen collaboration, leadership, and professional excellence across the University. The programme featured distinguished speakers who shared valuable insights with the students. Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Vice Chancellor, Eastern University, emphasized the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in professional life. He encouraged students to develop advanced AI competencies and professional-level skills, highlighting that the future workforce will increasingly rely on AI. Zia Uddin Mahmud, Chief Operating Officer, Creative Business Group, shared practical guidance on career development—from the first year of university through internships and entry into the job market. He encouraged students to prepare strategically for their future careers. School of Business of Eastern University recently organized another successful Industrial Visits on 30th August 2026, for a group of 45 enthusiastic students of Spring-2025 to Trent Shoes Factory, Zipper Factory Road, Auk Para, Ashulia, Savar as a part of their practical learning experience. It was a truly insightful and outstanding event!! The visit was directed by Prof. Brigadier General Dr. A K M Iqbal Azim, ndc, psc, G+ (Retd), Dean, School of Business, and Habib Anwar Pasha, Head, Department of Business Administration. It was supervised by Dr. Farhana Khan, Director (IFBI) & Associate Professor, and Coordinate by Fozia Rahman, Assistant Professor, School of Business. Three students of Eastern University have achieved a notable recognition at the 1st National Science Conference 2026, organized by the Barishal University Science Club at the University of Barishal. The students, Md. Shahriar Kabir Omi, Samir Alam Sojib, and Ahmed Razimon Haque Rizvi, were awarded a Certificate of Excellence for their paper presentation titled “Quantifying What We Don't Know: An Uncertainty-Aware Framework for Evaluating the Trustworthiness of Grad-CAM, LIME, and SHAP Explanations in Chest Radiograph Classification.” This award recognizes the presenter’s best scientific presentation, clarity of communication, depth of knowledge, and effective delivery of research findings. ​The Department of English, Eastern University, hosted Drama Festival 2026 on 2 September 2026 at the Rezakul Haider Seminar Hall. The festival aimed to celebrate students' creative talents through their engagement in the performing arts and competitive academic segments. ​The programme commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Mr. Md. Rofiussan, Head of the Department of English. The occasion was graced by Chief Guest Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Honourable Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University, and Special Guest Mr. Deepak Kumar Goswami, Director of the Department of Drama and Film at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. The event was further elevated by the esteemed presence of Dr. Shafia Akhter, Dean of the School of Arts; Dr. Abul Basher Khan, Registrar; and Professor Md. Shamsul Huda, Treasurer. ​Throughout the event, students participated in multiple engaging segments, including a quiz competition, a drama contest, and cultural performances. আজ ০১ সেপ্টেম্বর মঙ্গলবার ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির একটি প্রতিনিধি দল বাংলাদেশ এক্রিডিটেশন কাউন্সিল (বিএসি)-এর চেয়ারম্যান অধ্যাপক ড. মো. আখতার হোসেন খানের সঙ্গে তাঁর কার্যালয়ে সৌজন্য সাক্ষাৎ করেছে এবং সাতটি একাডেমিক প্রোগ্রামের অ্যাক্রেডিটেশনের জন্য আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে ইন্টেন্ট লেটার জমা দিয়েছে। প্রতিনিধি দলে ছিলেন ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির রেজিস্ট্রার ড. আবুল বাশার খান, ইনস্টিটিউশনাল কোয়ালিটি অ্যাস্যুরেন্স সেল (আইকিউএসি)-এর পরিচালক প্রফেসর ড. এস. এম. সিরাজী এবং আইকিউএসি-এর অতিরিক্ত পরিচালক এসোসিয়েট প্রফেসর মো. মাইদুল ইসলাম। অ্যাক্রেডিটেশনের জন্য আবেদন করা সাতটি প্রোগ্রাম হলো: বিবিএ, বিএসসি ইন কম্পিউটার সায়েন্স অ্যান্ড ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং (সিএসই), বিএসসি ইন সিভিল ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং (সিই), বিএসসি ইন ইলেকট্রিক্যাল অ্যান্ড ইলেকট্রনিক ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং (ইইই), ব্যাচেলর অব আর্টস ইন ইংলিশ, এলএলবি এবং ব্যাচেলর অব ফার্মেসি। সাক্ষাৎকালে বিএসি-এর ফুল-টাইম মেম্বার অধ্যাপক ড. মো. শাহ আমরান, অধ্যাপক ড. ওয়াকিলুর রহমান এবং অ্যাক্রেডিটেশন পরিচালক অধ্যাপক নাসির উদ্দিন আহমেদও উপস্থিত ছিলেন। এ সময় বিএসি-এর চেয়ারম্যান অ্যাক্রেডিটেশন প্রক্রিয়ায় প্রয়োজনীয় দিকনির্দেশনা ও সহযোগিতার আশ্বাস দেন। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় কর্তৃপক্ষ জানায়, এই উদ্যোগ শিক্ষা কার্যক্রমের গুণগত মান উন্নয়ন এবং জাতীয় ও আন্তর্জাতিক মানদণ্ডের সঙ্গে সামঞ্জস্য প্রতিষ্ঠায় গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখবে।

The Department of CSE, Eastern University, is pleased to share that training sessions on the IPA FE Syllabus have commenced for CSE students who are preparing to attend the ITEE examination to be held on 24 October 2026. This training is organized by the Dept. of CSE and funded by the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC). The Information Technology Engineers Examination (ITEE) is a national-level IT engineers examination governed by the Information-technology Promotion Agency (IPA), Japan. The Fundamental Information Technology Engineer (FE) is a Level-2 examination designed for IT professionals, graduates, and 4th-year CSE/IT-related students. ITEE qualifications are mutually recognized among ITPEC member countries across Asia. The Orientation Program of this training was successfully held on 17 August 2026 at the conference room of Eastern University. Prof. Md. Shamsul Huda, Treasurer & Vice Chancellor (in-charge) of Eastern University was present as the chief guest, Engr. Md. Golam Sarwar, Director (BD-ITEC), Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) was the Guest of Honor, Prof. Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean, School of Engineering was the special guest and the Head of the department, Muhammad Mahfuz Hasan, was the session chair of this program. Through this training initiative, our students are receiving structured guidance and preparation aligned with the IPA FE syllabus, helping them strengthen their knowledge and skills in preparation for the ITEE examination. School of Business of Eastern University recently organized Two Industrial Visits on 18 and 19 August 2026, respectively for a group of 100 enthusiastic students of Summer-2025 to Trent Shoes Factory, Zipper Factory Road, Auk Para, Ashulia, Savar as a part of their practical learning experience. It was a truly insightful and successful event!! The visit was directed by Prof. Brigadier General Dr. A K M Iqbal Azim, ndc, psc, G+ (Retd), Dean, School of Business, and Habib Anwar Pasha, Head, Department of Business Administration. It was supervised by Dr. Farhana Khan, Director (IFBI)&Associate Professor, and Coordinate by Fozia Rahman, Assistant Professor, School of Business. Special thanks are extended to them as well as to our dedicated faculty members and staffs for their excellent coordination and support in making this program possible. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Salma Akhter, Head of Business, Trent Shoes for her kind guidance, inspiration and continuous support in connecting our students with real-world industry practices and the industry authority for their warm welcome and valuable guidance throughout the visit. We hope industrial visits like this will help students link academic lessons with practical industry exposure, preparing them for a successful future.
