On April 22, 2026, International Earth Day was observed in Bangladesh alongside the rest of the world with due significance. To highlight the importance of the day and promote environmental awareness, the Eastern University Earth Care Club organized a special seminar titled “Earth Dialogue.”
The seminar was inaugurated by Ms. Susmita Das, Coordinator of the Eastern University Earth Care Club and Assistant Professor of the School of Law at Eastern University. The keynote speaker of the event was Mr. Rizwan Khayer Fahim, a respected faculty member of the same department. In his speech, he emphasized our responsibility toward the planet and highlighted the importance of reducing the use of polythene and plastic. He also raised awareness about environmentally harmful materials and urged everyone to refrain from using them.
The event also featured a speech by Mr. Md. Rofiussan, Head of the Department of English at Eastern University. He discussed the ongoing global energy crisis and elaborated on how it poses a significant challenge for the future.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Selim Hossain Tamim, President of the Eastern University Earth Care Club, expressed his gratitude to all participants and encouraged everyone to take more environmentally friendly initiatives in the future.
The seminar witnessed active participation from students, who enriched the discussion through their opinions and questions. A question-and-answer session was held at the end of the program, where 10 students were selected as winners and awarded gifts on behalf of the club.
