The Eastern University Public Health Club organized a program titled “Celebrating World Health Day 2026” on 12 April 2026 at Eastern University, Dhaka, aiming to promote public health awareness and encourage healthy lifestyle practices among students.
The program featured a Health Seminar at Rezakul Haider Hall alongside a Free Health Check-up Campaign at the EU Sports Room. The seminar began with recitations from holy scriptures, followed by guest reception and a welcome speech by the President of EUPHC.
The Chief Guest, Professor Md. Shamsul Huda, Honorable Vice Chancellor (Acting), delivered an insightful keynote speech emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring both individual and community health.
The Guest of Honor, Mr. Bishwajit Podder, General Manager of East West Medical College Hospital, shared valuable insights on accessible healthcare services and the importance of collaboration between academia and the healthcare industry.
The Special Guest, Dr. Abu Bin Ihsan, Head of the Department of Pharmacy, highlighted the significance of pharmaceutical education and awareness in building a healthier society.
The session was chaired by Professor Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean of the School of Engineering and Advisor of the club, who also delivered an insightful speech on public health awareness and later offered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all distinguished guests, participants, and organizers for making the program successful.
The seminar also featured an engaging Public Health Quiz Battle 2026 and a short cultural segment focused on health awareness, followed by an award-giving ceremony and refreshments.
In parallel, the Free Health Check-up Campaign was conducted from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM at the EU Sports Room, providing basic healthcare services free of cost. The initiative was supported by East West Medical College Hospital as the official health partner, where a professional medical team ensured quality and efficient service delivery.
The program successfully combined awareness with practical healthcare support, engaging a large number of students, faculty members, and officials. It served as an effective platform for health education and community engagement, reaffirming the university’s commitment to promoting preventive healthcare practices.
The entire program was coordinated by Mr. Shahadatul Islam and witnessed active participation from students, faculty members, and university officials.
