Prof. Farid A. Sobhani PhD is a Professor of Accounting & HRM, and the Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He currently serves as a Visiting Professor in the Department of Accounting & Economics, FEMS, Sol Plaatije University (SPU), South Africa. He is the President of the Bangladesh Society for Private University Academics (BSPUA), Vice-President of the Federation of Bangladesh Human Resource Organizations (FBHRO), and Advisor to the Bangladesh Australia Trade and Investment Council (BATIC), Sydney. He is also a qualified Scrum Master from Scrum Inc., USA. He did his BBA and MBA from the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh, earned second Master’s degree in project management from the University of Antwerp, Belgium, and obtained his PhD from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Malaysia.
He has served in various academic and leadership roles, including Professor, Visiting Professor, Dean, Campus Chief, Director, Doctoral Supervisor, and External Examiner, at several leading public and private universities both nationally and internationally. Prior to entering academia in 1998, he served in the corporate sector as a Financial Analyst and Company Secretary at Credit Rating Information and Services Ltd. (CRISL), Dhaka. Prof Sobhani has secured internal and external research grants, and published many articles in reputed journals, focusing on corporate disclosure, human resource management, and leadership.
In recognition of his excellence in academic leadership and research, he has received several prestigious awards, including awards for leadership, research excellence, and best paper. He has delivered keynote speeches at globally renowned institutions at home and abroad.
