Course Contents:
Islamic law, its nature, sources and making (jurisprudence) in general. Historical development of Islamic law, ijtihad and madhhabs (Schools of Islamic law). Ijtihad and Islamic law making in the modern world.

Introduction to Islamic legal and justice system with special reference to the present-day scenario both in Muslim majority and minority states.

As applied today, various topical aspects of Islamic law: family law including marriage, dower, maintenance, polygamy, divorce, child custody, inheritance and waqf; Islamic law of commerce, finance, banking and insurance; Islamic constitutionalism, human rights and women’s rights; Islamic law of crimes and terrorism; Islamic international law and relations.
