The students of the Department of Business Administration, Eastern University of Bangladesh, participated in a study tour to Cox’s Bazar. During this period, the students had the opportunity to explore renowned natural attractions, scenic hills, pristine beaches, and historically significant locations, gaining a deeper understanding of the cultural and environmental diversity of Bangladesh. Alongside their academic exposure, the students engaged with local traditions, customs, and lifestyles, and experienced the region’s distinctive culinary heritage, which further enriched their cultural perspective. This study tour served as a valuable platform for experiential learning beyond the classroom, fostering teamwork, curiosity, leadership, and cultural awareness among the participants. The Department of Business Administration extends its sincere gratitude to the university authorities for their valuable support and guidance in organizing this successful and inspiring program. The tour not only enhanced students’ learning experiences but also created lasting memories and lifelong friendships that will be cherished by all participants.

With immense pleasure and gratitude, we are delighted to announce that the Prize Giving Ceremony of Battle of Traders – Season 5 & Winter Fest, held on 02 February 2026, has been successfully completed with great enthusiasm, participation, and inspiration. The event was truly honored by the gracious presence of Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Honorable Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, as the Chief Guest, and Professor Brigadier General Dr. A. K. M. Iqbal Azim, ndc, psc, G+ (Retd), Dean of the School of Business, as the Guest of Honor. We were also privileged to have Mr. Lokman Hossain Akash, Managing Director of VISTA Electronics Ltd., as the Special Guest, whose insightful sharing of real-life business experiences, startup strategies, and growth journey greatly inspired our participants. We were additionally honored by the presence of Professor Md. Shamsul Huda, Treasurer, Eastern University, and Dr. Abul Basher Khan, Registrar, Eastern University, whose support and encouragement added immense value to the event. A special and memorable moment of the event was when, on behalf of the Business & Social Entrepreneurship Club (BSEC), Eastern University, our Club Coordinator, Dr. Farhana Khan, warmly welcomed the new Dean of the School of Business, Professor Brigadier General Dr. A. K. M. Iqbal Azim, ndc, psc, G+ (Retd), with a bouquet of flowers, symbolizing respect, gratitude, and our heartfelt wishes for his successful tenure. The session was thoughtfully chaired by Mr. Habib Anwar Pasha, Head of the Department of Business Administration, whose guidance added great value to the program. Eastern University is pleased to announce that Professor Brigadier General (Retd.) A K M Iqbal Azim, PhD, ndc, psc, G+ has joined Eastern University as the Dean and Professor of the School of Business Administration. His appointment marks an important step in strengthening the university’s academic leadership and propelling the quality of business education. Dr. Azim brings with him a strong combination of leadership experience, academic excellence, and institutional vision. A graduate of the prestigious National Defence College (NDC), Defence Services Command and Staff (DSCSC) College and Artillery Centre & School (ACS), he also holds a PhD with Fellowship from RU (IBS), MBA from Canada, Master of Defence Studies (MDS) from NU and Master of Science Technical (MST) from NU where he achieved excellent academic results. His background reflects disciplined leadership, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of higher education. Before joining Eastern University, Dr. Azim served as the Vice Chancellor (Designate) of Synergy University Bangladesh and Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) at Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). He is the academic specialist of Public Service Commission (PSC). He also served as the Commandant of ACS and Principal of Rajshahi Cadet College, his alma mater with utmost efficiency. During his tenure, he worked closely with faculties, instructors and students. He supervised & moderated a good number of postgraduate research, contributed to curriculum development and academic quality improvement. He possesses a book publication based on doctoral research in his credit including few article publications. In addition, Dr. Azim has extensive international exposure. He has attended academic courses abroad, presented Bangladesh in international academic and security forums, participated in United Nations peacekeeping & observer missions, and visited numerous countries across Asia, Europe, North America, and the Middle East. These experiences have given him a global perspective that he now brings to Eastern University. He has keen interest in golfing and sports. He is married and proud father of a daughter. Eastern University believes that Dr. Azim’s unique leadership will play a vital role in strengthening the School of Business Administration, enhancing research and industry engagement, and preparing students to meet national and global challenges. The university warmly welcomes Professor Brig Gen Dr Azim and looks forward to his valuable contributions to academic excellence and institutional growth.

The School of Business, in collaboration with the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), organized a heartfelt farewell ceremony to honor our esteemed Dean, Prof. Dr. M. Sayedur Rahman. It was an afternoon filled with nostalgia, gratitude, and pride as we celebrated his remarkable journey at Eastern University. We are incredibly proud to announce that Prof. Dr. M. Sayedur Rahman has taken on a new mantle as the Vice-Chancellor of North Bengal International University. While we will miss his leadership, we celebrate this prestigious milestone in his career! The event was graced by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University, Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, as the Chief Guest. Our Treasurer, Professor Shamsul Huda, and Registrar, Dr. Abul Basher Khan, also joined to share their appreciation. Deans from various schools, Heads of Departments, and faculty members from the School of Business shared touching stories of his contributions to the department’s growth and highlighted his tireless dedication to the overall development of Eastern University. As a mark of our love and respect, a honorary crest and special gifts were presented to Professor Rahman. Professor Rahman, your vision has shaped the School of Business into what it is today. Eastern University and United Healthcare have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in healthcare services for students, faculty members, and staff. The MoU signing ceremony was held yesterday at the United Medical College Hospital. The MoU was signed on behalf of Eastern University by Honorable Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, and on behalf of United Healthcare by Mohammad Faizur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer (Healthcare Division), United Group. Representing Eastern University at the ceremony were K. M. Monirul Islam, Deputy Director, Office of Student Affairs and Placement, and Md. Mohiuddin Majumder, Assistant Director, Public Relations. From United Healthcare, Tareq Sami Rahman, Head of Customer Relations Department & Corporate Marketing, was also present. Under the agreement, students, faculty members, and officers and staff of Eastern University will receive exclusive discounts on medical treatment, diagnostic tests, and cabin services at United Healthcare. Both institutions expressed optimism that this collaboration will enhance access to quality healthcare for the university community and pave the way for expanded cooperation in the future.

বুধবার ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির রেজাকুল হায়দার হলে ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি বোর্ড অব ট্রাস্টিজ ও ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি ফাউন্ডেশনের বর্তমান চেয়ারম্যান ব্যারিস্টার সাফায়েত মোহাম্মদ রাজু–কে ফুলেল সংবর্ধনার মাধ্যমে উষ্ণ অভ্যর্থনা জানানো হয়। উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানীর সভাপতিত্বে আয়োজিত এ অনুষ্ঠানে বিভিন্ন অনুষদের ডিন, বিভাগীয় প্রধান, শিক্ষক, কর্মকর্তা ও কর্মচারীবৃন্দ উপস্থিত ছিলেন। অনুষ্ঠানে চেয়ারম্যান ব্যারিস্টার সাফায়েত মোহাম্মদ রাজু বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের চলমান ও ভবিষ্যৎ উন্নয়নমূলক কর্মকাণ্ড নিয়ে বক্তব্য দেন। তিনি নৈতিক শিক্ষা, গবেষণা এবং শিক্ষা কার্যক্রমকে আরও শক্তিশালী করার ওপর গুরুত্বারোপ করেন। শিক্ষার্থীদের প্রতি আরও মনোযোগী হওয়া এবং তাদের সর্বোচ্চ অগ্রাধিকার দেওয়ার আহ্বান জানিয়ে তিনি বলেন, শিক্ষার্থীরাই আগামী দিনের নেতৃত্ব দেবে এবং বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়কে সামনে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাবে। এ সময় তিনি শিক্ষার্থীদের প্রযুক্তিগত দক্ষতা বৃদ্ধিতে গৃহীত উদ্যোগের কথা উল্লেখ করে জানান, ইতোমধ্যে ১,২০০-এর অধিক শিক্ষার্থীকে মাইক্রোসফট কোপাইলট এআই-এর প্রো ভার্সনের বিনামূল্যের এক্সেস প্রদান করা হয়েছে। ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি কর্তৃপক্ষ নতুন চেয়ারম্যানকে সাদরে গ্রহণের মধ্য দিয়ে নতুন বছরের কার্যক্রমের সূচনা করে এবং তাঁর নেতৃত্বে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অগ্রযাত্রা আরও বেগবান হবে বলে আশাবাদ ব্যক্ত করা হয়।
