The Department of Pharmacy at Eastern University, in coordination with the Eastern University Pharma Club, successfully hosted its Annual Picnic on February 5, 2026, at the vibrant Nandan Park. Recognizing that periodic breaks from the rigorous academic schedule are essential for maintaining motivation and fostering a healthy work-life balance, the department organized this excursion to bring together students, faculty, and their families for a day of relaxation and community building. The day began with great enthusiasm as participants arrived at the park, quickly diving into the various attractions. The morning was filled with energy as everyone enjoyed the park’s signature rides and the refreshing environment of the Water World. This informal setting provided a unique opportunity for students and faculty members to interact outside the traditional classroom environment, strengthening the bonds that define the "Pharmacy Family" at Eastern University. Following a communal lunch, the festivities continued with a series of organized games and spirited activities designed to encourage teamwork and friendly competition. The event reached its peak with a highly anticipated raffle draw, where several lucky winners were celebrated by their peers. By combining recreation with engagement, the picnic served as a reminder of the importance of collective joy in achieving academic excellence. On 10 December 2025, the Department of Pharmacy, with the support of the EU Pharma Club, successfully organized Choruivati 2025—a lively and engaging event that brought a wave of excitement among students. The program was designed to foster student interaction, recreation, and a strong sense of unity beyond the classroom. The day was filled with fun activities and games, along with enthusiastic participation from students, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere. Laughter, teamwork, and friendly competition defined the celebration, making it a truly enjoyable experience for everyone involved. The occasion was honored by the gracious presence of the Vice Chancellor, Treasurer, Registrar, and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Prof. Dr. Firoj Ahmed, Advisor of the Department, Dr. Abu Bin Ihsan, Head of the Department, along with other faculty members and staff, were also present, adding further warmth and encouragement to the event. Their presence highlighted the university’s strong commitment to supporting student-centered initiatives. On 01 February 2026, a Physiotherapy Awareness Seminar & Free Screening Camp was organized at the campus of Eastern University under the initiative of the Eastern University Public Health Club (EUPHC). The primary objective of the program was to raise awareness about the prevention of neck and back pain among students and university stakeholders. The event was graced by the presence of the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University, Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, as the Chief Guest. In his inaugural speech, he highlighted the importance of health awareness among students and appreciated the initiative of establishing a dedicated public health club at the university. He also expressed optimism regarding the future activities of EUPHC. Mr. Abul Quasem Haider, Founder Chairman of Eastern University Foundation, was present at the program as an Honorable Guest. The keynote presentation was delivered by Dr. M Easin Ali, Chairman and Chief Consultant of Dhaka City Physiotherapy Hospital. He discussed the common causes of neck and back pain, preventive measures, correct posture, and the importance of physiotherapy in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The program was further honored by the presence of Professor Md. Shamsul Huda, Treasurer of Eastern University, and Dr. Abul Basher Khan, Registrar of Eastern University. Professor Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean of the School of Engineering, Eastern University, attended the program as the Special Guest. The seminar was chaired by Dr. Abu Bin Ihsan, Head of the Department of Pharmacy, Eastern University. Alongside the seminar, a free physiotherapy screening camp was arranged for students, faculty members, and staff, which received an enthusiastic response. The screening session played a significant role in providing preliminary health assessments and increasing awareness about the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders. The event was held at Rezakul Haider Hall, Eastern University, starting at 11:00 AM. The program was attended by faculty members and university officials from various departments, reflecting strong institutional support for the initiative. The program was organized by the Eastern University Public Health Club (EUPHC) with the support of Dhaka City Physiotherapy Hospital. Held at the Eastern University Playground, the program brought together faculty members, students, and university officials to participate in Pushpanjali, seeking blessings from Goddess Saraswati, the symbol of knowledge, wisdom, and creativity. With the supervision and the guidance of the Pharma Club’s Faculty Coordinator of the Year 2026 Ms. Tasnia Binte Bari Kabbo, the dynamic members of the Pharma Club of Eastern University has successfully organized two events on 20th January 2026: Fresher’s Reception Spring 2026 and Club Committee Handover 2026. Freshman’s Reception Spring 2026 started with a rally which was led by the honorable Treasurer of Eastern University Prof. Md Shamsul Huda , Advisor of the Department of Pharmacy Prof Dr. Firoj Ahmed, Head of the Department of Pharmacy’s Dr. Abu bin Ihsan, Ms. Tasnia Binte Bari Kabbo, faculty members and students of the Department of Pharmacy of Eastern University. After the rally, everyone was seated at the Rezakul Haider Hall where the Guest of Honor Mr. Muhammad Shamim Alam Khan, Executive Director of Unimed Unihealth Pharmaceuticals Ltd.; Special Guest Dr. Md Abu Zafor Sadek, Deputy General Manager of Unimed Unihealth Pharmaceuticals Ltd.; and Chief Guest Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, the Vice Chancellor of Eastern University blessed the students and faculty members with their presence and spoke a few words of motivation. Then the Club Committee Handover 2026 began by biding adieu to the 2025 committee with words of gratitude and token of appreciations and welcoming the 2026 committee with best wishes and valuable lessons for a better outcome from the newly minted club committee executive and sub-executive members. The event ended with a vibrant Cultural Program where the performers’ energy encouraged the crowd to bust their dance moves and have one of the memorable moments of their time at Eastern University. Eastern University and United Healthcare have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in healthcare services for students, faculty members, and staff. The MoU signing ceremony was held yesterday at the United Medical College Hospital. The MoU was signed on behalf of Eastern University by Honorable Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, and on behalf of United Healthcare by Mohammad Faizur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer (Healthcare Division), United Group. Representing Eastern University at the ceremony were K. M. Monirul Islam, Deputy Director, Office of Student Affairs and Placement, and Md. Mohiuddin Majumder, Assistant Director, Public Relations. From United Healthcare, Tareq Sami Rahman, Head of Customer Relations Department & Corporate Marketing, was also present. Under the agreement, students, faculty members, and officers and staff of Eastern University will receive exclusive discounts on medical treatment, diagnostic tests, and cabin services at United Healthcare. Both institutions expressed optimism that this collaboration will enhance access to quality healthcare for the university community and pave the way for expanded cooperation in the future.

বুধবার ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির রেজাকুল হায়দার হলে ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি বোর্ড অব ট্রাস্টিজ ও ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি ফাউন্ডেশনের বর্তমান চেয়ারম্যান ব্যারিস্টার সাফায়েত মোহাম্মদ রাজু–কে ফুলেল সংবর্ধনার মাধ্যমে উষ্ণ অভ্যর্থনা জানানো হয়। উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানীর সভাপতিত্বে আয়োজিত এ অনুষ্ঠানে বিভিন্ন অনুষদের ডিন, বিভাগীয় প্রধান, শিক্ষক, কর্মকর্তা ও কর্মচারীবৃন্দ উপস্থিত ছিলেন। অনুষ্ঠানে চেয়ারম্যান ব্যারিস্টার সাফায়েত মোহাম্মদ রাজু বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের চলমান ও ভবিষ্যৎ উন্নয়নমূলক কর্মকাণ্ড নিয়ে বক্তব্য দেন। তিনি নৈতিক শিক্ষা, গবেষণা এবং শিক্ষা কার্যক্রমকে আরও শক্তিশালী করার ওপর গুরুত্বারোপ করেন। শিক্ষার্থীদের প্রতি আরও মনোযোগী হওয়া এবং তাদের সর্বোচ্চ অগ্রাধিকার দেওয়ার আহ্বান জানিয়ে তিনি বলেন, শিক্ষার্থীরাই আগামী দিনের নেতৃত্ব দেবে এবং বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়কে সামনে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাবে। এ সময় তিনি শিক্ষার্থীদের প্রযুক্তিগত দক্ষতা বৃদ্ধিতে গৃহীত উদ্যোগের কথা উল্লেখ করে জানান, ইতোমধ্যে ১,২০০-এর অধিক শিক্ষার্থীকে মাইক্রোসফট কোপাইলট এআই-এর প্রো ভার্সনের বিনামূল্যের এক্সেস প্রদান করা হয়েছে। ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি কর্তৃপক্ষ নতুন চেয়ারম্যানকে সাদরে গ্রহণের মধ্য দিয়ে নতুন বছরের কার্যক্রমের সূচনা করে এবং তাঁর নেতৃত্বে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অগ্রযাত্রা আরও বেগবান হবে বলে আশাবাদ ব্যক্ত করা হয়।

Eastern University, through its Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), successfully organized two capacity-building sessions on 6 January 2026 at Rezakul Haider Hall. Both sessions were presided over by the Honorable Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani. 🔹 Session I (Administrative Development Session): “Strengthening Teamwork for a Positive Workplace Environment” The session was conducted by Ms. Nilufer Ahmed Karim, Free-lance Gender and Management Consultant and Trainer, and Former Faculty Member, Bangladesh Institute of Management (BIM), Ministry of Industries. The discussion highlighted the importance of teamwork, effective communication, and fostering a positive workplace culture. 🔹 Session II (Faculty Development Session): “From Lecturers to Leaders: Faculty as Change Agents” The session was facilitated by Prof. Dr. Syed Saad Andaleeb, Distinguished Professor Emeritus, Pennsylvania State University, USA, and Former Honorable Vice-Chancellor of BRAC University. The session emphasized leadership development and the pivotal role of faculty members as agents of change in higher education. The sessions reflect Eastern University’s continued commitment to professional development, quality assurance, and institutional excellence.

We are pleased to share that EU Day Out 2025 was held on 11 December 2025 at Shaldah Eco Resort, Gazipur organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Eastern University. This event was arranged for the trainees who have awarded certificates of Digital Skills Training for students, a premier learning opportunity presented by the EDGE Project of Bangladesh Computer Council and ICT Division through IIT, Jahangirnagar University. About 150 students from B. Sc. in CSE, LL. B and MBA programs were present in the program. The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Vice Chancellor of EU as chief guest and all members of Eastern University Working Committee were also present. The event was filled with fun and excitement through activities such as pillow passing, football, hari vanga, swimming and cultural segment. Faculty members, officials, students and supporting staffs enjoyed every moment of the day creating unforgettable memories through laughter, teamwork and joyful engagement.
