Eastern University, through its Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), successfully organized two capacity-building sessions on 6 January 2026 at Rezakul Haider Hall. Both sessions were presided over by the Honorable Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani. đš Session I (Administrative Development Session): âStrengthening Teamwork for a Positive Workplace Environmentâ The session was conducted by Ms. Nilufer Ahmed Karim, Free-lance Gender and Management Consultant and Trainer, and Former Faculty Member, Bangladesh Institute of Management (BIM), Ministry of Industries. The discussion highlighted the importance of teamwork, effective communication, and fostering a positive workplace culture. đš Session II (Faculty Development Session): âFrom Lecturers to Leaders: Faculty as Change Agentsâ The session was facilitated by Prof. Dr. Syed Saad Andaleeb, Distinguished Professor Emeritus, Pennsylvania State University, USA, and Former Honorable Vice-Chancellor of BRAC University. The session emphasized leadership development and the pivotal role of faculty members as agents of change in higher education. The sessions reflect Eastern Universityâs continued commitment to professional development, quality assurance, and institutional excellence.

EU Day Out 2025

We are pleased to share that EU Day Out 2025 was held on 11 December 2025 at Shaldah Eco Resort, Gazipur organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Eastern University. This event was arranged for the trainees who have awarded certificates of Digital Skills Training for students, a premier learning opportunity presented by the EDGE Project of Bangladesh Computer Council and ICT Division through IIT, Jahangirnagar University. About 150 students from B. Sc. in CSE, LL. B and MBA programs were present in the program. The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Vice Chancellor of EU as chief guest and all members of Eastern University Working Committee were also present. The event was filled with fun and excitement through activities such as pillow passing, football, hari vanga, swimming and cultural segment. Faculty members, officials, students and supporting staffs enjoyed every moment of the day creating unforgettable memories through laughter, teamwork and joyful engagement. Students from the Prothom Alo Bondhushava Club of Eastern University proudly took part in a special daylong workshop focused on digital fact-checking and online verification, held on 5 December 2025 at the Prothom Alo Office in Karwan Bazar, Dhaka. A total of eleven club members participated in the intensive training titled âQuestion Everything You See Online: Training on Quick Fact-Checking & Verification.â The program was jointly organized by Bondhushava and Dismislab, with support from Deshi-Foods. Throughout the workshop, participants engaged in a series of insightful sessions designed to strengthen their ability to navigate the digital world responsibly. In the first session, Miraj Ahmed Chowdhury, Managing Director of Digitally Right, discussed the importance of critical thinking in evaluating online content. The second session was led by Touhidul Islam Rasu, Research Officer at Dismislab, who focused on effective information verification methods and source assessment techniques. In the third session, Yaseer Abrar, also a Research Officer at Dismislab, trained participants on detecting misleading photos and videos through reverse search tools, metadata analysis, and practical verification techniques. A special highlight of the event was the presence of renowned writer and Prothom Alo representative Mr. Anisul Haque, who emphasized Prothom Aloâs commitment to promoting responsible information verification among young people. He encouraged participants to stay vigilant about misinformation and introduced the guest trainers who conducted the sessions. The program further covered techniques for identifying AI-generated visuals and texts, as well as methods for using global digital archives to verify old images, videos, and historical content. These sessions provided valuable hands-on experience with modern fact-checking tools and real-time verification practices. By the end of the day, participants gained a strong foundation in fact-checking methodologies, developed faster techniques to validate social media content, and built greater confidence in detecting misinformation. They also received Certificates of Participation and had the opportunity to network with fellow learners and digital literacy enthusiasts, making the workshop highly enriching and impactful.

We are pleased to share that the certificate awarding ceremony of Digital Skills Training for students, a premier learning opportunity presented by the EDGE Project of the Bangladesh Computer Council and ICT Division was held on 11 November 2025 at Rezakul Haider Hall of Eastern University. Certificates were presented to 75 students of LL.B and 25 faculty members & officials of different departments and offices in recognition of their outstanding performance and successful completion of training. The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Vice Chancellor of EU as chief guest. In his valuable speech, highlighted how new technologies like AI and robotics are changing job fields and why learning of digital skills is so important now a days. Prof. Md. Shamsul Huda, Treasurer of EU and Dr. Abul Basher Khan, Registrar of EU were present as special guest and the ceremony was presided by Mohammad Mamunur Rashid, Chairperson of Law, Eastern University. The event marked not only the end of a successful program but also a new beginning for participants as they apply their skills in their respective fields.

The Freshersâ Orientation for Fall 2025 was held on 26 October 2025 at Eastern University campus in Ashulia, Dhaka. The program warmly welcomed the newly admitted students to the Eastern University. The event was presided over by Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University. Professor Dr. A. S. M. Amanullah, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of National University, attended the event as the Chief Guest. Professor Dr. ABM Shahidul Islam and Mr. Mohammad Ali Azzam, Members of the Board of Trustees, Eastern University, were present as Special Guests. In their speeches, the guests encouraged students to become attentive, ethical, and professionally skilled citizens. They also highlighted the importance of higher education in building leadership and contributing to national development. Among others, Professor Md. Shamsul Huda, Treasurer of Eastern University; Dr. Abul Basher Khan, Registrar; Professor Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology; Professor Dr. M. Sayedur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration; Mr. ABM Imdadul Haque Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Mr. Md. Rofiusssan, Chairperson of the Department of English, also addressed the program. The orientation program introduced the freshers to the universityâs academic rules, regulations, club activities, and campus life. A Historical Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signed Among Five Universities of Ashulia at Eastern University

A historical Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on October 25, 2025, at the permanent campus of Eastern University, Ashulia, Dhaka, among five leading universities located in the Ashulia area. The MoU was signed by Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University; Professor Dr. M. R. Kabir, Vice-Chancellor of Daffodil International University; Brigadier General Professor Dr. Engr. Md Lutfor Rahman (Retd), Vice-Chancellor of City University; Professor Dr. Mohammad Abdur Rob, Vice-Chancellor of Manarat International University; and Emeritus Professor Dr. Shahjahan Khan, Vice-Chancellor of Asian University of Bangladesh. The Registrars of all five universities signed the document as witnesses. The primary objective of this MoU is to establish Ashulia as a âHigher Education Hubâ through joint collaboration among the participating universities in education, research, infrastructure development, and community engagement. The signatory universities will jointly organize a variety of academic and co-curricular activities, including seminars, conferences, workshops, sports competitions, debates, and leadership and entrepreneurship development programs. The universities also committed to working together to ensure a drug-free and safe campus environment, while addressing local issues such as transportation, waste management, and environmental sustainability through collective initiatives. The Vice-Chancellors agreed to hold an annual meeting to review progress and design future collaborative plans. This historic initiative marks a new milestone in the higher education landscape of Bangladesh. It sets a strong example of shared growth and academic partnership among universities, while paving the way for Ashulia to emerge as a dynamic center for integrated higher education and innovation.

7th International Conference on Integrated Sciences held today at Eastern University

The 7th International Conference on Integrated Sciences (ICIS 2025) under the theme Integrating Artificial Intelligence in Science, Business, and Islamic Paradigms, held today on October 25, 2025 at Eastern University, Ashulia Model Town, Dhaka. The conference was jointly organized by Eastern University, Bangladesh, and the International Open University (IOU), The Gambia. The inaugural session was presided over by Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Honorable Vice Chancellor of Eastern University. In his address, Professor Sobhani emphasized the importance of ethical and human values in science, business, technology, and education. A special video message was delivered by Professor Dr. Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips, Honorable Chancellor of IOU, The Gambia, and Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh (APUB). Professor Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmed, Chairman of the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Special Guests included Engr. Pharmacy (Practice) Football Tournament 2025: Let the Spirit of Unity and Sportsmanship Shine

The Competitive Player Auction â August 27, 2025 On August 27, 2025, a thrilling and fiercely competitive Player Auction was held before the formal start of the 2nd Pharmacy (Practice) Football Tournament, laying the groundwork for what would turn out to be a two-day event that would never be forgotten. The Pharmacy Department as a whole was enthralled with the auction, which added an extra element of excitement to the occasion. Four team owners, each representing a pharmaceutical-themed squad, engaged in a bidding war in a crowded hall to acquire the top players for their teams. Each owner raised their paddles to purchase players based on their abilities, potential, and prior performances during the frantic and quick-paced auction process. Teams were constrained by a set budget, and choices were heavily influenced by strategy. By the time the auction ended, the teams were formed, and the excitement in the room was evident as each team completed their lineups. Everyone was anxiously awaiting the next group-stage matches, and the crowd was cheering for their favoured teams. Day 1: September 27, 2025 â The Opening Ceremony and Group Matches After that, on the 27th of September, 2025, the highly anticipated 1st Pharmacy Intra-Department Football Tournament kicked off with great energy and enthusiasm, bringing together students, faculty, and staff for two days of thrilling football action. The event, which was held on the lush green grounds of the universityâs sports field, saw fierce competition between four teams representing different pharmaceutical themes: Cephalosporin Squad, Azithromycin Royals, Antidote Avengers, and Vaccines Battlers. On that day, the tournament officially began at 10:00 AM with a vibrant Inauguration ceremony that set the tone for the day. Professor Dr. Firoj Ahmed (Advisor of the Pharmacy Department) and Dr. Abu Bin Ihsan, Chairperson of the Department of Pharmacy, and other Faculty members of Pharmacy Department added to the grandeur of the occasion with their presence and support for the event. Their encouragement underscored the importance of extracurricular activities in building holistic development among students. With the opening remarks completed, the stage was set for the first match of the tournament. The first match of the day featured Antidote Avengers and Vaccine Battlers. The game kicked off at 11:00 AM, and both teams came out with high energy. Both teams played with determination, but due to strong defense, they couldnât manage to score a goal. Thanks to the captains who showcased impressive leadership. Md. Mazharul Islam was announced as the man of the match for his outstanding efforts. At 12:00 PM, the Vaccine Battlers faced the Cephalosporin Squad in a match that saw solid defense from both sides. Despite several attempts on goal, neither team managed to break the deadlock, and the match ended in a goalless draw. Safayet Sunny was announced as the man of the match for his great defense and constant efforts to score goal. At 01:40 PM, the third match began between the Azithromycin Royals and the Antidote Avengers, which proved to be a thrilling encounter. The Royals were in great attacking form, and their efforts paid off when they managed to score a single goal. This solitary goal was enough to secure a 1-0 victory for the Azithromycin Royals. For his all-around contribution, Arif Ahmed Sagor was awarded the Man of the Match title. The final match of Day 1 saw Azithromycin Royals facing off against the Cephalosporin Squad. Fueled by their earlier victory, Azithromycin Royals displayed excellent teamwork and clinical finishing, scoring a goal to secure a convincing 1-0 win. Arif Ahmed Sagor from the Azithromycin Royals played a starring role in the match, scoring the decisive goal. His overall performance earned him the Man of the Match award for this match too. Day 2: September 28, 2025 â The Grand Finale After two days of exciting group-stage matches, the tournament culminated on September 28, 2025, with the much-awaited final match. The final was set between Vaccine Battlers and Azithromycin Royals, two teams that had displayed great talent throughout the tournament. Final Match: Vaccine Battlers vs. Azithromycin Royals The final match began at 02:00 PM, and the atmosphere was electric with both teams giving their all to claim the trophy. Throughout the match, both teams displayed tremendous skill, but despite several opportunities, neither managed to find the back of the net in the first half. In the second half, a goal was scored in favour of Vaccine Battlers which decided the result of the match. The crowd was on the edge of their seats as the final whistle blew, and Vaccine Battlers were crowned the champions of the 2nd Pharmacy (practice) Football Tournament. Despite the loss, the Azithromycin Royals gave an outstanding performance throughout the match, and their efforts were truly commendable. Rakib Nayem from the Azithromycin Royals was selected as the Man of the Match for his exceptional performance. Prize Giving Ceremony: Recognition of Outstanding Performances At 03:15 PM, the Prize Giving Ceremony took place, where the efforts of the players and teams were recognized. Five players were honored with the Man of the Match awards for their exceptional performances throughout the tournament: âĸ Md.
