Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh — As part of Eastern University’s commitment to outcome-based education and practical field exposure, students from the Department of Pharmacy enrolled in the "Introduction to Public Health" course completed an educational visit to the Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMN) camps in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar over the weekend. This field study continues an academic initiative established during the previous semester, where pharmacy students visit field sites to examine large-scale public health infrastructure, emergency health delivery, and sanitation framework operations firsthand. During the visit, students evaluated key aspects of community-level public health, including disease surveillance, field-clinic administration, water and sanitation (WASH) protocols, and maternal and child health programs operating within humanitarian settings. Local healthcare coordinators and field representatives briefed the delegation on the logistical and pharmaceutical challenges involved in maintaining health standards in densely populated displaced communities. "Direct field observations provide our students with a profound understanding of epidemiological dynamics and resource management that cannot be fully replicated inside a traditional classroom," noted the course faculty. "Exposing students to real-world public health crisis management prepares them to contribute meaningfully to national and global healthcare sectors post-graduation." The Department of Pharmacy plans to continue integrating such immersive field visits into its core curriculum to reinforce theoretical learning with vital real-world context.

The day began with a symbol of harmony as pigeons were released into the sky, followed by an enthusiastic rally showcasing the crucial contribution of pharmacists to society. To promote environmental sustainability, a tree plantation program was also conducted on campus. The central discussion program at Rezakul Haider Hall was graced by Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Honorable Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, as the Chief Guest. The session was chaired by Dr. Abu Bin Ihsan, Dean, School of Life Sciences & Head (In-Charge), Dept. of Pharmacy, with Prof. Dr. Firoj Ahmed, Advisor, Dept. of Pharmacy, attending as Guest of Honor. Eastern University Research Society (EURS) successfully organized the Competition on Poster Presentation 2026 at Rezakul Haidar Hall, celebrating students' research excellence and innovative ideas. Held under the theme "Multidisciplinary Research for Sustainable Development and Innovation," the day-long competition brought together students from different academic disciplines to showcase their research through poster presentations. Participants presented their work before judges and other participants during the morning session, followed by an engaging question-and-answer session. The Award Giving Ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University, as the Chief Guest. In his address, he encouraged students to embrace research as a powerful tool for solving real-world challenges and emphasized the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration in achieving sustainable development and innovation. The Office of the Counselor, Eastern University, organized a session on “Anger Management” for the students of the Department of Pharmacy on 18 August 2026. The session aimed to help students better understand anger and develop healthy ways to manage and express it. Munia Zahan Mony conducted the session, where she discussed various aspects of anger, including anger triggers, anger styles, and anger cues. She also explained how anger can affect physical and mental health and emphasized the importance of recognizing emotional responses and dealing with them in healthy and constructive ways. During the session, students learned about healthy ways to express anger and practical approaches to managing anger effectively. The discussion also focused on developing greater self-awareness and adopting positive strategies to maintain emotional well-being and healthy interpersonal relationships. The session provided students with an engaging platform to reflect on their emotions, understand the causes and signs of anger, and learn constructive ways to manage it in their personal, academic, and social lives. The session was organized as part of the Office of the Counselor’s efforts to support students’ emotional well-being and contribute to a healthy and supportive university environment.

The Department of Pharmacy at Eastern University successfully hosted its 3rd Intra-Department Football Tournament on September 14 and 15, promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and athletic excellence among students. The two-day tournament featured four departmental teams: Azithromycin Royals, Cephalosporin Squad, Antidote Avengers, and Vaccine Battlers. Following a series of competitive group matches and knockout rounds, Azithromycin Royals claimed the championship title, while Cephalosporin Squad finished as the tournament runners-up after an exciting final match. The opening ceremony and the final prize distribution ceremony were graced by the Honorable Vice Chancellor Professor Farid A. Sobhani and the Treasurer Professor Md. Shamsul Huda of Eastern University as distinguished guests. In their addresses to the students, the university leadership commended the Department of Pharmacy for encouraging co-curricular involvement, noting that athletic engagements are essential for holistic development, stress management, and building leadership capabilities alongside academic pursuits. ‘ক্যাম্পাস টু কর্পোরেট’ প্রতিপাদ্যকে সামনে রেখে ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটিতে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়ে গেল দিনব্যাপী ‘স্কিল অ্যান্ড এমপ্লয়েবিলিটি সামিট ২০২৬’। শনিবার (১৫ আগস্ট) আয়োজিত এ সামিটের মূল লক্ষ্য ছিল শিক্ষার্থীদের প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক শিক্ষা ও কর্পোরেট দুনিয়ার মধ্যকার দূরত্ব কমিয়ে তাদের চাকরির বাজারের জন্য আরও দক্ষ ও প্রস্তুত করে তোলা। সামিটে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে অনুপ্রেরণামূলক বক্তৃতা প্রদান করেন ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির ভাইস চ্যান্সেলর প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানী। উদ্বোধনী পর্বে স্বাগত বক্তব্য দেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ব্যবসায় প্রশাসন বিভাগের ডিন প্রফেসর ব্রিগেডিয়ার জেনারেল ড. এ কে এম ইকবাল আজিম ও ট্রেজারার প্রফেসর মো. শামসুল হুদা। সামিটের অন্যতম আকর্ষণ ছিল বিভিন্ন প্রতিষ্ঠানের জব অফার। দেশের বিভিন্ন খ্যাতনামা প্রতিষ্ঠান এতে অংশগ্রহণ করে। শিক্ষার্থীরা সরাসরি প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলোর বুথে গিয়ে তাদের পছন্দের পদ ও সম্ভাব্য কর্মসংস্থানের জন্য সিভি জমা দেওয়ার সুযোগ পান। অংশগ্রহণকারী প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলো পরবর্তীতে জমা পড়া সিভিগুলো যাচাই-বাছাই করে সম্ভাব্য শূন্যপদের জন্য যোগ্য প্রার্থীদের নির্বাচন করবে। সামিটের সার্বিক কার্যক্রম পরিচালনার দায়িত্ব পালন করে খ্যাতনামা চাকরির প্ল্যাটফর্ম স্কিল জবস। শুধু চাকরির সুযোগ নয়, শিক্ষার্থীদের দক্ষতা বৃদ্ধির ওপরও বিশেষ গুরুত্ব দেওয়া হয় সামিটে।দিনব্যাপী বিভিন্ন অধিবেশনে দেশের বিভিন্ন খাতের অভিজ্ঞ কর্পোরেট পেশাজীবীরা অংশ নেন। তাঁরা শিক্ষার্থীদের সিভি লেখার কৌশল, চাকরির সাক্ষাৎকারে নিজেকে উপস্থাপন, কর্মক্ষেত্রে প্রয়োজনীয় দক্ষতা, নেতৃত্ব, দলগত কাজ, ক্যারিয়ার পরিকল্পনা এবং আধুনিক কর্পোরেট পরিবেশের উপযোগী পেশাগত দক্ষতা নিয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ও তথ্যবহুল দিকনির্দেশনা দেন। আলোচনায় শিক্ষার্থীদের ভবিষ্যৎ কর্মজীবনের জন্য প্রস্তুত করা, কর্মক্ষেত্রে প্রয়োজনীয় দক্ষতা অর্জন, ব্যক্তিগত ব্র্যান্ড তৈরি, উদ্ভাবনী চিন্তাভাবনা, প্রবৃদ্ধিমুখী মানসিকতা, আত্মসচেতনতা ও কর্মসংস্থানযোগ্যতা বাড়ানোর মতো গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয় উঠে আসে। এর মাধ্যমে শিক্ষার্থীরা একাডেমিক শিক্ষার পাশাপাশি বাস্তব কর্মক্ষেত্রের চাহিদা ও প্রত্যাশা সম্পর্কে প্রত্যক্ষ ধারণা লাভের সুযোগ পান। সমাপনী পর্বে ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির রেজিস্ট্রার ড. আবুল বাশার খান, এডমিশন বিভাগের পরিচালক (ইনচার্জ) ও সহযোগী অধ্যাপক আবু মো. আবদুল্লাহ এবং বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের স্টুডেন্ট এফেয়ার্স ও প্লেসমেন্ট অফিসের উপপরিচালক কে. এম. মনিরুল ইসলাম বক্তব্য প্রদান করেন। পরে আয়োজক কমিটির পক্ষ থেকে ধন্যবাদ জ্ঞাপন ও অতিথিদের সম্মাননা প্রদানের মাধ্যমে সামিটের সমাপ্তি হয়।

দুই দিনব্যাপী টানটান উত্তেজনাপূর্ণ এই টুর্নামেন্টে আবারও চ্যাম্পিয়ন হয়েছে কম্পিউটার সায়েন্স অ্যান্ড ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং (CSE) বিভাগ। ফাইনালে ইলেকট্রিক্যাল অ্যান্ড ইলেকট্রনিক্স ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং (EEE) বিভাগকে হারিয়ে হাড্ডাহাড্ডি লড়াইয়ের মধ্য দিয়ে শিরোপা নিশ্চিত করে CSE দল। এবারের টুর্নামেন্টে অংশগ্রহণ করে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মোট ৭টি বিভাগ—CSE, EEE, Civil, Law, Pharmacy, English এবং BBA। টুর্নামেন্টটির স্পন্সর ছিল ক্লেমন। পুরস্কার বিতরণী অনুষ্ঠানে মাননীয় উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানী বিজয়ীদের হাতে ট্রফি তুলে দেন। এ সময় রেজিস্ট্রার, ডিনবৃন্দ, বিভাগীয় প্রধানগণ, শিক্ষক-শিক্ষার্থী, কর্মকর্তা-কর্মচারীরা উপস্থিত ছিলেন। বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন মার্লিন ট্যুরস এন্ড ট্রাভেলস এর চেয়ারম্যান জুয়েল রেজোয়ানি মিয়াহ। এছাড়া ক্লেমন এর পক্ষ থেকে উপস্থিত ছিলেন গাজী আলমগীর। এই আয়োজনটি পরিচালিত হয় স্টুডেন্ট অ্যাফেয়ার্স ও প্লেসমেন্ট বিভাগ-এর উপ-পরিচালক কে. এম. মনিরুল ইসলাম-এর তত্ত্বাবধানে এবং সহযোগিতায় ছিল ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি গেমস ও স্পোর্টস ক্লাব। ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি কর্তৃপক্ষ ভবিষ্যতেও এ ধরনের আয়োজন অব্যাহত রাখার আশা প্রকাশ করেছে।
