ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি ডিবেট ক্লাব আয়োজিত “জাতীয় বিতর্ক প্রতিযোগিতা ২০২৫”-এর গ্র্যান্ড ফিনালে ও পুরস্কার বিতরণী অনুষ্ঠান আজ সোমবার, ২৯ সেপ্টেম্বর ২০২৫ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের রেজাকুল হায়দার হলে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। অনুষ্ঠানে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মাননীয় উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানীর সভাপতিত্বে, প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে বক্তব্য রাখেন জাহাঙ্গীরনগর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মাননীয় উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ড. মোহাম্মদ কামরুল আহসান। বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির বোর্ড অব ট্রাস্টিজের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা চেয়ারম্যান আবুল কাসেম হায়দার। এছাড়া বক্তব্য রাখেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ট্রেজারার প্রফেসর মো. শামসুল হুদা, রেজিস্ট্রার ড. আবুল বাশার খান, ডিবেট ক্লাবের কো-অর্ডিনেট ও আইন বিভাগের লেকচারার মেহেরবা সাবরিন, এবং ক্লাবের সভাপতি আইন বিভাগের শিক্ষার্থী সাবিত ইবনে মাহমুদ। অনুষ্ঠানে বিভিন্ন অনুষদের ডিন, বিভাগীয় প্রধান, জাহাঙ্গীরনগর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের কর্মকর্তাবৃন্দসহ অসংখ্য শিক্ষার্থীর উপস্থিতি অনুষ্ঠানকে প্রাণবন্ত করে তোলে। ৩২ টি কলেজের অংশগ্রহণে ইন্টার-কলেজ প্রতিযোগিতার ফাইনাল-এ সরকারি বাংলা কলেজ ও সরকারি বিজ্ঞান কলেজ মুখোমুখি হয়। তীব্র প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতার মাধ্যমে সরকারি বিজ্ঞান কলেজ বিজয়ী হয় এবং সরকারি বাংলা কলেজ রানার আপের গৌরব অর্জন করে। এ পর্বে সেরা বিতার্কিক নির্বাচিত হন সরকারি বাংলা কলেজের শিক্ষার্থী ইমন আহমেদ। অন্যদিকে, ২৮ টি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অংশগ্রহণে ইন্টার-ইউনিভার্সিটি প্রতিযোগিতার ফাইনাল-এ নর্থ সাউথ ইউনিভার্সিটি এবং বাংলাদেশ টেক্সটাইল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় (বুটেক্স) এর মধ্যে লড়াই হয়। এই প্রতিযোগিতায় বুটেক্স বিজয়ী হয় এবং নর্থ সাউথ ইউনিভার্সিটি রানার আপ হয়। এ পর্বের সেরা বিতার্কিক নির্বাচিত হন নর্থ সাউথ ইউনিভার্সিটির শিক্ষার্থী আলভি সালমান। আয়োজকরা জানান, এ প্রতিযোগিতার মূল উদ্দেশ্য হলো দেশের তরুণ প্রজন্মকে যৌক্তিকতা, মুক্তচিন্তা ও নেতৃত্বের চর্চায় অনুপ্রাণিত করা।

আজ ২২ সেপ্টেম্বর ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির মাননীয় উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানীর সভাপতিত্বে ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি (EU) ও মালয়েশিয়ার ইউনিভার্সিটি টেকনোলজি মারা (UiTM)-এর অ্যাকাউন্টিং রিসার্চ ইনস্টিটিউট (ARI)-এর মধ্যে একটি এক্সপ্রেশন অব ইন্টারেস্ট (EOI) স্বাক্ষর অনুষ্ঠান অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির পক্ষে ব্যবসায় প্রশাসন অনুষদের ডিন প্রফেসর ড. এম. ছায়েদুর রহমান EOI'তে স্বাক্ষর করেন। অপরদিকে UiTM এর পক্ষে ARI-এর পরিচালক প্রফেসর ড. জুরাইদাহ মোহাম্মদ সানুসি স্বাক্ষর করেন। অনুষ্ঠানে ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির ট্রেজারার, ব্যবসায় শিক্ষা বিভাগের চেয়ারপার্সন, শিক্ষকবৃন্দ ও কর্মকর্তাবৃন্দ উপস্থিত ছিলেন। অন্যদিকে UiTM-এর পক্ষ থেকে ড. মুহাম্মদ নাজমুল হক, ড. মোহাম্মদ তৌফিক বিন মোহাম্মদ সুফিয়ান এবং মিসেস লিলি মারদিয়াহ আদম মুদিন অংশগ্রহণ করেন। এই স্বাক্ষরের মাধ্যমে ভবিষ্যতে যৌথ গবেষণা প্রকল্প, শিক্ষক ও শিক্ষার্থীদের এক্সচেঞ্জ প্রোগ্রাম এবং জ্ঞান বিনিময়ের নতুন সুযোগ সৃষ্টি হবে বলে আশাবাদ ব্যক্ত করা হয় ।

Eastern University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Samarkand State Architecture and Construction University, Uzbekistan, at its campus today. Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Honorable Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, signed on behalf of EU, while Mr. Ferhan Kara, Advisor to the Rector, signed on behalf of Samarkand State Architecture and Construction University. The signing ceremony was also joined online by Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Canbay Türkyılmaz, Rector, and Prof. Dr. Emrah Türkyılmaz from Turkey. The MoU establishes a framework for academic cooperation, including joint supervision of Master’s and PhD programs, student and faculty exchanges, internships, collaborative research, and joint seminars and workshops. It also paves the way for sharing academic resources, scholarships for meritorious students, and joint certificate courses. Professor Dr. Sobhani expressed optimism that this partnership will create new global opportunities for Eastern University students and graduates, enhancing their prospects in higher studies, research, and careers abroad. The Treasurer, Registrar, Deans, Chairpersons, and Section Heads of Eastern University were present at the signing ceremony.

Eastern University (EU) inaugurated the Eastern University Research Society (EURS), marking a significant difference in advancing research and innovation at the university. The ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University, as Chief Guest, who unveiled the EURS logo. In his address, he highlighted the vital role of research in higher education and described the society as a “new beginning” for fostering innovation, knowledge-sharing, and academic excellence at EU. Special Guests included Dr. Abul Bashar Khan, Registrar, Prof. Dr. M. Sayedur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, and Prof. Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, who encouraged students to actively participate in research activities. As part of the program, Dr. Md. Zahurul Haq, Associate Professor, Department of Law, conducted a keynote workshop on “How to Write a Conference Paper,” designed to guide young researchers in developing strong academic writing skills for national and international platforms. The event was chaired by Dr. Abu Bin Ihsan, Chairperson, Department of Pharmacy, and Chief Coordinator of EURS, who shared the society’s vision and future plans while inviting students and faculty members to contribute to building a robust research culture at EU. The launch of EURS reflects Eastern University’s commitment to becoming a hub of research and innovation, empowering its community to explore, create, and contribute meaningfully to the global academic arena.

আজ ২২ জুলাই ২০২৫ ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি, বাংলাদেশ এবং ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ওপেন ইউনিভার্সিটি (IOU), দি গাম্বিয়া এর মধ্যে একটি সমঝোতা স্মারক স্বাক্ষরিত হয়। এ স্মারকের মাধ্যমে উভয় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের যৌথ উদ্যোগে একটি আন্তর্জাতিক কনফারেন্স আয়োজনের সিদ্ধান্ত গৃহীত হয়। উক্ত কনফারেন্স ২৫ অক্টোবর ২০২৫ ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি ক্যাম্পাসে অনুষ্ঠিত হবে বলে আশাবাদ ব্যক্ত করা হয়। এ কনফারেন্সে বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন দেশের গবেষক ও শিক্ষাবিদগণ তাদের গবেষণা কর্ম উপস্থাপনের সুযোগ পাবেন। এতে বৈশ্বিক জ্ঞান ও অভিজ্ঞতার আদান-প্রদান হবে। নতুন নতুন উদ্ভাবন, উন্নয়ন নির্দেশনা ও তা বাস্তবায়নের ক্ষেত্র তৈরি হবে। ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির মাননীয় উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানী'র উপস্থিতিতে সমঝোতা স্মারকে সাক্ষর করেন ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির পক্ষে রিসার্চ এন্ড ডেভেলপমেন্ট এর পরিচালক ডিসটিংগুইস প্রফেসর ড. মো. আব্বাস আলী খান এবং ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ওপেন ইউনিভার্সিটি (IOU), দি গাম্বিয়ার পক্ষে রিসার্চ এন্ড পাবলিকেশন্স এর পরিচালক প্রফেসর ড. আফরোজা বুলবুল। অনুষ্ঠানে আইওইউ, দি গাম্বিয়ার ডেপুটি ভাইস-চ্যান্সেলর প্রফেসর ড. মুহাম্মদ আহসান যুক্তরাজ্য থেকে এবং ব্যবসায় প্রশাসন বিভাগের প্রধান প্রফেসর ড. শফিকুর রহমান অস্ট্রিলিয়া থেকে জুম প্লাটফর্মের মাধ্যমে যুক্ত হন। অনুষ্ঠানে আরো উপস্থিত ছিলেন ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির ট্রেজারার, রেজিস্ট্রার, বিভিন্ন অনুষদের ডিন, বিভাগীয় প্রধান এবং প্রশাসনিক কর্মকর্তাবৃন্দ।

আজ বাদ যোহর ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির ক্যাম্পাস মসজিদে উত্তরার মাইলস্টোন স্কুল এন্ড কলেজে বিমান দুর্ঘটনায় নিহতদের আত্মার মাগফিরাত এবং আহতদের দ্রুত আরোগ্য কামনায় এক বিশেষ দোয়ার আয়োজন করা হয়। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মাননীয় ভাইস চ্যান্সেলর প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানী দোয়া পরিচালনা করেন। তিনি অশ্রুসজল নয়নে আল্লাহর রহমত কামনা করেন এবং নিহত ও আহতদের পরিবারের প্রতি গভীর সমবেদনা জ্ঞাপন করেন। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের রেজিস্ট্রার ড. আবুল বাশার খানও দুর্ঘটনায় নিহত ও আহতদের প্রতি গভীর শোক প্রকাশ করেন।

গতকাল ২১ জুলাই (সোমবার), 'জুলাই স্মরণে’ ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটিতে শ্রদ্ধা ও গুরুত্বের সঙ্গে জুলাই বিপ্লবের উপর আলোচনা সভা এবং প্রামাণ্যচিত্র প্রদর্শিত হয়। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানীর সভাপতিত্বে অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে বক্তব্য প্রদান করেন বাংলা একাডেমির সভাপতি অধ্যাপক আবুল কাসেম ফজলুল হক। বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে বক্তব্য রাখেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা চেয়ারম্যান আবুল কাশেম হায়দার। এছাড়াও বক্তব্য দিয়েছেন ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির ট্রেজারার প্রফেসর মো. সামসুল হুদা, রেজিস্ট্রার ড. আবুল বাশার খান প্রমুখ। বক্তাগন জুলাই বিপ্লবের লক্ষ্যকে কাজে লাগিয়ে একটি বৈষম্যহীন ও দুর্নীতিমুক্ত সমাজ গড়ার উপর গুরুত্বরোপ করেন। অনুষ্ঠানে বক্তারা শহীদ আবু সাঈদ, শহীদ মুগ্ধসহ অন্যান্য শহীদদের আত্মত্যাগ, পঙ্গুত্ব বরন করা সংগ্রামীদের সাহসিকতা, এবং এ আন্দোলনে ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটিসহ সকল শিক্ষার্থীদের অগ্রণী ভূমিকার কথা গভীর শ্রদ্ধার সঙ্গে স্মরণ করেন। এতে শহীদদের আত্মার মাগফেরাত কামনা করা হয়। আলোচনায় উঠে আসে আন্দোলনের প্রেক্ষাপট, তাৎপর্য এবং এর অনন্য শিক্ষা। অনুষ্ঠানের সঞ্চালনা করেছেন অনুষ্ঠান বাস্তবায়ন কমিটির আহ্বায়ক ও ব্যবসায় প্রশাসন বিভাগের চেয়ারপারসন এসোসিয়েট প্রফেসর সৈয়দ হাবিব আনোয়ার পাশা। স্মৃতিচারন করেন সে সময়কার আন্দোলনে জড়িত ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির শিক্ষক ও বিভিন্ন বিভাগের শিক্ষার্থীগণ। অনুষ্ঠানটির সার্বিক তত্ত্বাবধানে ছিলেন ক্যারিয়ার সার্ভিসেস এবং স্টুডেন্ট এফেয়ার্স এর ডেপুটি ডিরেক্টর জনাব কে এম মনিরুল ইসলাম। অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বিভিন্ন অনুষদের ডিন, চেয়ারপারসন, শিক্ষকবৃন্দ, কর্মকর্তা-কর্মচারী ও বিভিন্ন অনুষদের শিক্ষার্থীবৃন্দ।

Today, Saturday, July 26, 2025, the Freshers’ Reception for the Summer 2025 students was successfully held on the campus of Eastern University. The event was organized to warmly welcome the newly admitted students and was presided over by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani. The Chief Guest of the program was Mr. Niaz Rahim, Group Managing Director of Rahimafrooz Bangladesh Ltd. The event was also graced by the presence of the Guest of Honor, Mr. Md. Maniruzzaman Molla, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Eastern University. Engineer Khondker Mezbah Uddin Ahmed, Former Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Eastern University, delivered a speech as a special guest. The ceremony began with a welcome speech by the university’s Registrar, Dr. Abul Basher Khan. Other notable speakers included Professor Md. Shamsul Huda, Treasurer; Professor Dr. M. Sayedur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration; Professor Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology; Professor Dr. Firoj Ahmed, Advisor to the Faculty of Life Science; Mr. A.B.M. Imdadul Haque Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Law; and Mr. Rofiussan, Chairperson of the Department of English. The speakers emphasized that along with academic excellence, students should also focus on building strong moral character. They noted that students must be prepared to become honest, competent individuals capable of meeting the demands of the modern era. They were encouraged to make their parents proud and to prepare themselves to build a corruption-free and equitable society. During the event, new students were introduced to the university's academic structure, facilities, and important aspects of campus life, all of which will play a significant role at the beginning of their academic journey. The closing remarks were delivered by Dr. Abu Bin Ihsan, Chairperson of the Department of Pharmacy and Convener of the Freshers’ Reception Organizing Committee. He thanked all the guests and participants and officially declared the conclusion of the event. The reception concluded with a vibrant cultural program organized by the university’s Cultural Club, where Eastern University students showcased their creativity and talent. It was a joyful and inspiring day for the Summer 2025 students as they began their journey in university life. Alongside the newcomers and current students, principals from various colleges, faculty members, staff, and many parents of the new students were also present at the event.

Our society actively participates in renowned national and international moot court competitions, providing students with invaluable opportunities to engage with diverse legal issues, sharpen their oral and written advocacy skills, and develop a global perspective on law. These competitions challenge members to think critically, conduct in-depth research, and present compelling legal arguments, preparing them for the demands of the legal profession. Beyond competitions, EUMCS organizes regular workshops, training sessions, and mentorship programs aimed at cultivating professionalism, ethical awareness, and intellectual growth. Through these initiatives, we strive to equip our members with the confidence, knowledge, and skills necessary to excel in both academic and practical aspects of law.
