The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Eastern University successfully organized a seminar titled “Microsoft 365 Copilot – Your Research Assistance” on 29 April 2026 at Rezakul Haider Hall. The session focused on the transformative role of AI-powered tools in academic research and how Microsoft 365 Copilot can support students in improving research efficiency, academic writing, and data organization. The program was graced by the presence of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, whose encouragement highlighted the university’s commitment to integrating modern technology into education and research. Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean and Professor, School of Engineering, also spoke at the program, emphasizing the importance of embracing AI-driven tools to enhance research quality and academic productivity among students. The seminar was conducted by Mr. Muhammad Mahfuz Hasan, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of CSE, who provided practical demonstrations on how AI tools can be effectively utilized in different stages of research, including literature review, methodology development, and result analysis. The session created an engaging learning environment where students actively participated and explored the real-world applications of AI in their academic journey.

দুই দিনব্যাপী টানটান উত্তেজনাপূর্ণ এই টুর্নামেন্টে আবারও চ্যাম্পিয়ন হয়েছে কম্পিউটার সায়েন্স অ্যান্ড ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং (CSE) বিভাগ। ফাইনালে ইলেকট্রিক্যাল অ্যান্ড ইলেকট্রনিক্স ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং (EEE) বিভাগকে হারিয়ে হাড্ডাহাড্ডি লড়াইয়ের মধ্য দিয়ে শিরোপা নিশ্চিত করে CSE দল। এবারের টুর্নামেন্টে অংশগ্রহণ করে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মোট ৭টি বিভাগ—CSE, EEE, Civil, Law, Pharmacy, English এবং BBA। টুর্নামেন্টটির স্পন্সর ছিল ক্লেমন। পুরস্কার বিতরণী অনুষ্ঠানে মাননীয় উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানী বিজয়ীদের হাতে ট্রফি তুলে দেন। এ সময় রেজিস্ট্রার, ডিনবৃন্দ, বিভাগীয় প্রধানগণ, শিক্ষক-শিক্ষার্থী, কর্মকর্তা-কর্মচারীরা উপস্থিত ছিলেন। বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন মার্লিন ট্যুরস এন্ড ট্রাভেলস এর চেয়ারম্যান জুয়েল রেজোয়ানি মিয়াহ। এছাড়া ক্লেমন এর পক্ষ থেকে উপস্থিত ছিলেন গাজী আলমগীর। এই আয়োজনটি পরিচালিত হয় স্টুডেন্ট অ্যাফেয়ার্স ও প্লেসমেন্ট বিভাগ-এর উপ-পরিচালক কে. এম. মনিরুল ইসলাম-এর তত্ত্বাবধানে এবং সহযোগিতায় ছিল ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি গেমস ও স্পোর্টস ক্লাব। ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি কর্তৃপক্ষ ভবিষ্যতেও এ ধরনের আয়োজন অব্যাহত রাখার আশা প্রকাশ করেছে।

On April 20, 2026, the campus of Eastern University was beautifully adorned with colors and joy as we celebrated "Bangla Noboborsho - 1433". Organized by the Eastern University Cultural Club, the vibrant day-long festival brought together students, teachers, officials, staff, and alumni in a festive atmosphere. Honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani graced the occasion as Chief Guest and emphasized that Pohela Boishakh is a day to reconnect with our roots and nurture our culture and human values. Treasurer Prof. Md. Shamsul Huda and Registrar Dr. Abul Bashar Khan also shared inspiring words, encouraging everyone to embrace our rich heritage. The celebration featured a colorful Boishakhi Mela, captivating cultural performances, flash mob, bioscope, nagordola, and delightful food & handicraft stalls. Students in traditional attire added extra vibrancy to the entire campus.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), successfully organized the Orientation Program for the IPA FE (ITEE) Training on 3rd March 2026 in the university’s Conference Room. This valuable training opportunity has been offered by the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) under the ICT Division of the Government of Bangladesh. According to the official communication from BCC, 20 students of Eastern University have been nominated to receive this specialized training completely free of cost. The training aims to prepare students for the Information Technology Engineers Examination (ITEE), Level-2: FE (Fundamental Engineering), an internationally recognized IT certification conducted under Japan’s Information-technology Promotion Agency (IPA). The certification enhances global employability and professional standards in the ICT sector. The Orientation Program was graced by Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Honorable Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, as the Chief Guest; Engr. Md. Golam Sarwar, Director (BD ITEC), Bangladesh Computer Council, who joined the session virtually via Zoom as the Guest of Honor; Prof. Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean, School of Engineering, Eastern University, as the Special Guest; and Muhammad Mahfuz Hasan, Head, Department of CSE, Eastern University, who chaired the session. In his address, the Honorable Vice Chancellor expressed sincere appreciation to Bangladesh Computer Council for providing this prestigious opportunity and emphasized the importance of international certification in building globally competitive ICT professionals. Engr. Md. Golam Sarwar, joining online, highlighted the significance of ITEE certification and encouraged students to fully utilize the training to achieve international standards of excellence. We are proud to share a remarkable achievement of our student Noman Bin Hossain, Department of Computer Science & Engineering. On 26 February 2026, at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center (BCFCC), Agargaon, the U.S.-based nonprofit organization 1 One officially launched its activities in Bangladesh. The organization is dedicated to promoting education, wellness, economic empowerment, and community development through inclusive and community-centered initiatives. The event attracted more than 400 applications from students representing various universities across Bangladesh. Among them, 90 participants were shortlisted, and only 4 individuals were invited on stage to receive Certificates of Appreciation. We are delighted to announce that Noman Bin Hossain was selected as one of the four recipients — a truly proud moment for both him and our university. Representing Eastern University on such a prestigious national platform among students from many reputed institutions reflects his dedication, excellence, and commitment to making a positive impact. Congratulations to Noman for this outstanding achievement. We wish him continued success in his future endeavors.

Eastern University and United Healthcare have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in healthcare services for students, faculty members, and staff. The MoU signing ceremony was held yesterday at the United Medical College Hospital. The MoU was signed on behalf of Eastern University by Honorable Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, and on behalf of United Healthcare by Mohammad Faizur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer (Healthcare Division), United Group. Representing Eastern University at the ceremony were K. M. Monirul Islam, Deputy Director, Office of Student Affairs and Placement, and Md. Mohiuddin Majumder, Assistant Director, Public Relations. From United Healthcare, Tareq Sami Rahman, Head of Customer Relations Department & Corporate Marketing, was also present. Under the agreement, students, faculty members, and officers and staff of Eastern University will receive exclusive discounts on medical treatment, diagnostic tests, and cabin services at United Healthcare. Both institutions expressed optimism that this collaboration will enhance access to quality healthcare for the university community and pave the way for expanded cooperation in the future.
