Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un (إِنَّا لِلّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ) — Surely, we belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return. May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta‘ala grant his soul eternal peace and the highest place in Jannah, and may He comfort and bless his family with strength during this difficult time.

২৭ জানুয়ারী ২০২৬ ইং ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির নিজস্ব ক্যাম্পাসে স্প্রিং-২০২৬ সেমিস্টারের শিক্ষার্থীদের নবীন বরণ অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। এসময় নতুন শিক্ষার্থীদের ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি পরিবারে স্বাগত জানানো হয়। অনুষ্ঠানে ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির মাননীয় উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানীর সভাপতিত্বে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে বক্তব্য প্রদান করেন ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক ড. নিয়াজ আহমেদ খান। বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে বক্তৃতা দিয়েছেন মডার্ন ই-লার্নিং এর প্রতিষ্ঠাতা ও জর্জ ওয়াশিংটন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, ইউএসএ এর সাবেক অধ্যাপক ড. বদরুল হুদা খান এবং ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি বোর্ড অব ট্রাস্টিজ এর চেয়ারম্যান ব্যারিস্টার সাফায়েত মোহাম্মদ রাজু। সম্মানিত অতিথি হিসেবে বক্তব্য দিয়েছে ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির প্রাক্তন শিক্ষার্থী স্পেশাল ট্রাইব্যুনাল, মহানগর দায়রা জজ আদালত এর অতিরিক্ত পাবলিক প্রসিকিউটর এডভোকেট মোঃ আব্দুল্লাহ আল মামুন। বক্তরা তাদের বক্তব্যে শিক্ষার্থীদেরকে মনোযোগী, নৈতিক ও পেশাগতভাবে দক্ষ নাগরিক হিসেবে গড়ে ওঠার আহ্বান জানান। তারা উচ্চশিক্ষার মাধ্যমে সমাজে নেতৃত্ব সৃষ্টির গুরুত্ব নিয়েও আলোচনা করেন। অনুষ্ঠানে নতুন শিক্ষার্থীদের বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের একাডেমিক কাঠামো, বিভিন্ন সেবা, ক্লাব কার্যক্রম ও ক্যাম্পাস লাইফ সম্পর্কে ধারণা দেওয়া হয়। পরিশেষে শিক্ষার্থীদের পরিবেশনায় মনোজ্ঞ সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠানের মধ্য দিয়ে অনুষ্ঠানটি শেষ হয়। অনুষ্ঠানে আরো বক্তব্য রাখেন ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির ট্রেজারার প্রফেসর মো. শামসুল হুদা, রেজিস্ট্রার ড. আবুল বাশার খান, প্রযুক্তি ও প্রকৌশলী অনুষদের ডীন প্রফেসর ড. মো. মাহফুজুর রহমান, আইন অনুষদের ডীন এ.বি.এম. ইমদাদুল হক খান, ব্যবসায় প্রশাসন অনুষদের ডীন প্রফেসর ব্রিগেডিয়ার জেনারেল ড. একেএম ইকবাল আজিম, এনডিসি, পিএসসি, জি+ (অব.), কলা অনুষদের ডীন ড. শাফিয়া আখতার, জীবন বিজ্ঞান অনুষদের এডভাইজার প্রফেসর ড. ফিরোজ আহমেদ প্রমুখ। তারা উপস্থিত সকল অতিথি, শিক্ষক, কর্মকর্তা ও শিক্ষার্থীদের ধন্যবাদ জ্ঞাপন করেন এবং নতুন শিক্ষার্থীদের সফল শিক্ষাজীবনের শুভকামনা জানান।

Eastern University and United Healthcare have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in healthcare services for students, faculty members, and staff. The MoU signing ceremony was held yesterday at the United Medical College Hospital. The MoU was signed on behalf of Eastern University by Honorable Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, and on behalf of United Healthcare by Mohammad Faizur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer (Healthcare Division), United Group. Representing Eastern University at the ceremony were K. M. Monirul Islam, Deputy Director, Office of Student Affairs and Placement, and Md. Mohiuddin Majumder, Assistant Director, Public Relations. From United Healthcare, Tareq Sami Rahman, Head of Customer Relations Department & Corporate Marketing, was also present. Under the agreement, students, faculty members, and officers and staff of Eastern University will receive exclusive discounts on medical treatment, diagnostic tests, and cabin services at United Healthcare. Both institutions expressed optimism that this collaboration will enhance access to quality healthcare for the university community and pave the way for expanded cooperation in the future.

Eastern University is proud to announce that Noman Bin Hossain, a student of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Batch 61, has been honored with an award in the “Student Category (Student Icon)” at the OWS National Tech Award. The highly competitive program featured six categories and assessed participants through a rigorous process involving applications, public voting, and viva evaluation. Noman achieved an impressive 9th position in the overall public voting across all categories and secured 2nd position in the Student Icon Category, reflecting his outstanding contributions and impact in the field of technology. The award ceremony was held on 16 January 2026 at the Muktijoddha Auditorium, IDEB Building, Kakrail VIP Road, Dhaka. Noman is widely recognized for his leadership and community engagement, serving as Open Mapping Guru (Asia Pacific), President of YouthMappers at Eastern University, Secretary of Leo Club of Dhaka Crescent, and Joint Secretary of the Eastern University Computing Club. বুধবার ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির রেজাকুল হায়দার হলে ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি বোর্ড অব ট্রাস্টিজ ও ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি ফাউন্ডেশনের বর্তমান চেয়ারম্যান ব্যারিস্টার সাফায়েত মোহাম্মদ রাজু–কে ফুলেল সংবর্ধনার মাধ্যমে উষ্ণ অভ্যর্থনা জানানো হয়। উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানীর সভাপতিত্বে আয়োজিত এ অনুষ্ঠানে বিভিন্ন অনুষদের ডিন, বিভাগীয় প্রধান, শিক্ষক, কর্মকর্তা ও কর্মচারীবৃন্দ উপস্থিত ছিলেন। অনুষ্ঠানে চেয়ারম্যান ব্যারিস্টার সাফায়েত মোহাম্মদ রাজু বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের চলমান ও ভবিষ্যৎ উন্নয়নমূলক কর্মকাণ্ড নিয়ে বক্তব্য দেন। তিনি নৈতিক শিক্ষা, গবেষণা এবং শিক্ষা কার্যক্রমকে আরও শক্তিশালী করার ওপর গুরুত্বারোপ করেন। শিক্ষার্থীদের প্রতি আরও মনোযোগী হওয়া এবং তাদের সর্বোচ্চ অগ্রাধিকার দেওয়ার আহ্বান জানিয়ে তিনি বলেন, শিক্ষার্থীরাই আগামী দিনের নেতৃত্ব দেবে এবং বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়কে সামনে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাবে। এ সময় তিনি শিক্ষার্থীদের প্রযুক্তিগত দক্ষতা বৃদ্ধিতে গৃহীত উদ্যোগের কথা উল্লেখ করে জানান, ইতোমধ্যে ১,২০০-এর অধিক শিক্ষার্থীকে মাইক্রোসফট কোপাইলট এআই-এর প্রো ভার্সনের বিনামূল্যের এক্সেস প্রদান করা হয়েছে। ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি কর্তৃপক্ষ নতুন চেয়ারম্যানকে সাদরে গ্রহণের মধ্য দিয়ে নতুন বছরের কার্যক্রমের সূচনা করে এবং তাঁর নেতৃত্বে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অগ্রযাত্রা আরও বেগবান হবে বলে আশাবাদ ব্যক্ত করা হয়।

Eastern University, through its Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), successfully organized two capacity-building sessions on 6 January 2026 at Rezakul Haider Hall. Both sessions were presided over by the Honorable Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani. 🔹 Session I (Administrative Development Session): “Strengthening Teamwork for a Positive Workplace Environment” The session was conducted by Ms. Nilufer Ahmed Karim, Free-lance Gender and Management Consultant and Trainer, and Former Faculty Member, Bangladesh Institute of Management (BIM), Ministry of Industries. The discussion highlighted the importance of teamwork, effective communication, and fostering a positive workplace culture. 🔹 Session II (Faculty Development Session): “From Lecturers to Leaders: Faculty as Change Agents” The session was facilitated by Prof. Dr. Syed Saad Andaleeb, Distinguished Professor Emeritus, Pennsylvania State University, USA, and Former Honorable Vice-Chancellor of BRAC University. The session emphasized leadership development and the pivotal role of faculty members as agents of change in higher education. CSE department of Eastern University organized a seminar titled “Software Development and Related Issues” on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at the Moot Court of the university. The seminar was arranged by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Eastern University. The Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University, Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, attended the program as the Chief Guest. Mr. Afzalur Rahman, Member of the Board of Trustees, Eastern University, was present as the Special Guest. The keynote presentation was delivered by Mr. Abdur Rahman, Software Designer at Nokia, Canada, who participated as the Resource Person. In his speech, he shared practical insights on modern software development practices, industry challenges, and future career opportunities for students in the global technology sector. The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean, School of Engineering, Eastern University. Faculty members, officials, and a large number of students actively participated in the seminar. We are pleased to share that the certificate awarding ceremony of Digital Skills Training for CSE & EEE students, a premier learning opportunity presented by the EDGE Project of the Bangladesh Computer Council and ICT Division through IIT, Jahangirnagar University was held on 21 December 2025 at Rezakul Haider Hall of Eastern University. This ceremony was organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Eastern University. Certificates were awarded to 175 students of CSE and 25 students of EEE for their successful completion of training on Software Testing and Quality Assurance, PHP (Laravel), Graphics Design, Flutter, Python (Django), Java (Spring Boot) and React. The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Vice Chancellor of EU as chief guest. In his valuable speech, highlighted to move forward with a spirit of innovation but also with ethics, empathy and the determination to create a brighter world. Prof. Md. Shamsul Huda, Treasurer, EU and Prof. Dr. Md. Eastern University successfully organized a Microsoft 365 Workshop recently at Rezakul Haider Hall of the university. The workshop was arranged by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) with the aim of empowering students through smart digital productivity tools. The workshop focused on helping students understand modern work trends such as hybrid work, flexible work, and the role of front-line workers, and how Microsoft 365 supports these working models. Participants were introduced to practical uses of Microsoft 365 applications to improve collaboration, communication, and efficiency in both academic and professional environments. The session was conducted by A K M Nurul Alam, Deputy General Manager and Solution Architect, who joined the program as the Resource Person. He explained how Microsoft 365 enables users to stay connected from anywhere, ensures secure access through advanced security features, and supports teamwork through tools like online meetings, shared workspaces, and cloud-based services.
