Professor Dr. Faird A. The program was attended by the Treasurer, Registrar, Deans, Department Heads, Faculty Members, and Staffs, making it a meaningful and engaging session. After the workshop, everyone joined together for a grand Iftar Mahfil and Doa, sharing the spirit of unity and blessings of the holy month of Ramadan.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), successfully organized the Orientation Program for the IPA FE (ITEE) Training on 3rd March 2026 in the university’s Conference Room. This valuable training opportunity has been offered by the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) under the ICT Division of the Government of Bangladesh. According to the official communication from BCC, 20 students of Eastern University have been nominated to receive this specialized training completely free of cost. The training aims to prepare students for the Information Technology Engineers Examination (ITEE), Level-2: FE (Fundamental Engineering), an internationally recognized IT certification conducted under Japan’s Information-technology Promotion Agency (IPA). The certification enhances global employability and professional standards in the ICT sector. The Orientation Program was graced by Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Honorable Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, as the Chief Guest; Engr. Md. Golam Sarwar, Director (BD ITEC), Bangladesh Computer Council, who joined the session virtually via Zoom as the Guest of Honor; Prof. Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean, School of Engineering, Eastern University, as the Special Guest; and Muhammad Mahfuz Hasan, Head, Department of CSE, Eastern University, who chaired the session. In his address, the Honorable Vice Chancellor expressed sincere appreciation to Bangladesh Computer Council for providing this prestigious opportunity and emphasized the importance of international certification in building globally competitive ICT professionals. Engr. Md. Golam Sarwar, joining online, highlighted the significance of ITEE certification and encouraged students to fully utilize the training to achieve international standards of excellence. Eastern University remains committed to promoting academic excellence, industry collaboration, and global-standard professional development opportunities for its students. This initiative marks another important step in strengthening the university’s contribution to Bangladesh’s ICT advancement.

We are proud to share a remarkable achievement of our student Noman Bin Hossain, Department of Computer Science & Engineering. On 26 February 2026, at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center (BCFCC), Agargaon, the U.S.-based nonprofit organization 1 One officially launched its activities in Bangladesh. The organization is dedicated to promoting education, wellness, economic empowerment, and community development through inclusive and community-centered initiatives. The event attracted more than 400 applications from students representing various universities across Bangladesh. Among them, 90 participants were shortlisted, and only 4 individuals were invited on stage to receive Certificates of Appreciation. We are delighted to announce that Noman Bin Hossain was selected as one of the four recipients — a truly proud moment for both him and our university. Representing Eastern University on such a prestigious national platform among students from many reputed institutions reflects his dedication, excellence, and commitment to making a positive impact. Congratulations to Noman for this outstanding achievement. We wish him continued success in his future endeavors.

May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta‘ala grant his soul eternal peace and the highest place in Jannah, and may He comfort and bless his family with strength during this difficult time.

Held at the Eastern University Playground, the program brought together faculty members, students, and university officials to participate in Pushpanjali, seeking blessings from Goddess Saraswati, the symbol of knowledge, wisdom, and creativity. Eastern University and United Healthcare have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in healthcare services for students, faculty members, and staff. The MoU signing ceremony was held yesterday at the United Medical College Hospital. The MoU was signed on behalf of Eastern University by Honorable Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, and on behalf of United Healthcare by Mohammad Faizur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer (Healthcare Division), United Group. Representing Eastern University at the ceremony were K. M. Monirul Islam, Deputy Director, Office of Student Affairs and Placement, and Md. Mohiuddin Majumder, Assistant Director, Public Relations. From United Healthcare, Tareq Sami Rahman, Head of Customer Relations Department & Corporate Marketing, was also present. Under the agreement, students, faculty members, and officers and staff of Eastern University will receive exclusive discounts on medical treatment, diagnostic tests, and cabin services at United Healthcare. Both institutions expressed optimism that this collaboration will enhance access to quality healthcare for the university community and pave the way for expanded cooperation in the future.

Eastern University is proud to announce that Noman Bin Hossain, a student of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Batch 61, has been honored with an award in the “Student Category (Student Icon)” at the OWS National Tech Award. The highly competitive program featured six categories and assessed participants through a rigorous process involving applications, public voting, and viva evaluation. Noman achieved an impressive 9th position in the overall public voting across all categories and secured 2nd position in the Student Icon Category, reflecting his outstanding contributions and impact in the field of technology. The award ceremony was held on 16 January 2026 at the Muktijoddha Auditorium, IDEB Building, Kakrail VIP Road, Dhaka. Noman is widely recognized for his leadership and community engagement, serving as Open Mapping Guru (Asia Pacific), President of YouthMappers at Eastern University, Secretary of Leo Club of Dhaka Crescent, and Joint Secretary of the Eastern University Computing Club. Eastern University extends its heartfelt congratulations to Noman Bin Hossain on this remarkable achievement and wishes him continued success in his academic pursuits, technological innovations, and leadership endeavors.

বুধবার ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির রেজাকুল হায়দার হলে ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি বোর্ড অব ট্রাস্টিজ ও ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি ফাউন্ডেশনের বর্তমান চেয়ারম্যান ব্যারিস্টার সাফায়েত মোহাম্মদ রাজু–কে ফুলেল সংবর্ধনার মাধ্যমে উষ্ণ অভ্যর্থনা জানানো হয়। উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ড. ফরিদ আহমদ সোবহানীর সভাপতিত্বে আয়োজিত এ অনুষ্ঠানে বিভিন্ন অনুষদের ডিন, বিভাগীয় প্রধান, শিক্ষক, কর্মকর্তা ও কর্মচারীবৃন্দ উপস্থিত ছিলেন। অনুষ্ঠানে চেয়ারম্যান ব্যারিস্টার সাফায়েত মোহাম্মদ রাজু বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের চলমান ও ভবিষ্যৎ উন্নয়নমূলক কর্মকাণ্ড নিয়ে বক্তব্য দেন। তিনি নৈতিক শিক্ষা, গবেষণা এবং শিক্ষা কার্যক্রমকে আরও শক্তিশালী করার ওপর গুরুত্বারোপ করেন। শিক্ষার্থীদের প্রতি আরও মনোযোগী হওয়া এবং তাদের সর্বোচ্চ অগ্রাধিকার দেওয়ার আহ্বান জানিয়ে তিনি বলেন, শিক্ষার্থীরাই আগামী দিনের নেতৃত্ব দেবে এবং বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়কে সামনে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাবে। এ সময় তিনি শিক্ষার্থীদের প্রযুক্তিগত দক্ষতা বৃদ্ধিতে গৃহীত উদ্যোগের কথা উল্লেখ করে জানান, ইতোমধ্যে ১,২০০-এর অধিক শিক্ষার্থীকে মাইক্রোসফট কোপাইলট এআই-এর প্রো ভার্সনের বিনামূল্যের এক্সেস প্রদান করা হয়েছে। ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি কর্তৃপক্ষ নতুন চেয়ারম্যানকে সাদরে গ্রহণের মধ্য দিয়ে নতুন বছরের কার্যক্রমের সূচনা করে এবং তাঁর নেতৃত্বে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অগ্রযাত্রা আরও বেগবান হবে বলে আশাবাদ ব্যক্ত করা হয়।

Eastern University, through its Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), successfully organized two capacity-building sessions on 6 January 2026 at Rezakul Haider Hall. Both sessions were presided over by the Honorable Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani. 🔹 Session I (Administrative Development Session): “Strengthening Teamwork for a Positive Workplace Environment” The session was conducted by Ms. Nilufer Ahmed Karim, Free-lance Gender and Management Consultant and Trainer, and Former Faculty Member, Bangladesh Institute of Management (BIM), Ministry of Industries. The discussion highlighted the importance of teamwork, effective communication, and fostering a positive workplace culture. 🔹 Session II (Faculty Development Session): “From Lecturers to Leaders: Faculty as Change Agents” The session was facilitated by Prof. Dr. Syed Saad Andaleeb, Distinguished Professor Emeritus, Pennsylvania State University, USA, and Former Honorable Vice-Chancellor of BRAC University. The session emphasized leadership development and the pivotal role of faculty members as agents of change in higher education. The sessions reflect Eastern University’s continued commitment to professional development, quality assurance, and institutional excellence.
