An MoA was signed on 1st July 2025, between Eastern University and the Daffodil Response Center (DRC) at the Eastern University campus, Ashulia Model Town, Dhaka. The agreement aims to strengthen capacity building and institutional branding of Eastern University. Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, and Dr. Mohammad Nuruzzaman, Chief Executive Officer of the Daffodil Family, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions. This collaboration seeks to enhance institutional capacity through professional engagement and the development of advanced skills among relevant officials. It is expected to contribute to improved enrollment quality, greater empowerment, and stronger collaboration between the two institutions. This milestone agreement marks the beginning of a long-term, impactful partnership that is expected to yield mutual benefits and sustainable success. The signing ceremony was attended by the Registrar, Deans of various faculties, Departmental Chairpersons, section heads of administrative units, and senior officials from DRC.

A seminar titled "Prospects of Higher Studies and International Work Permit Visa in Japan" held on 30th June 2025 at University's Rezakul Haider Hall, Ashulia Model Town, Dhaka. The Chief Guest at the event was Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Vice Chancellor of Eastern University. The Special guests were Mr. Morisu Narita, CEO of Winkle Inc. (Japan), and Mr. Md. Rafiqul Islam, Managing Director of Samaira Group and MP Travels Ltd. The seminar was chaired by Professor Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at Eastern University. Professor Dr. M. Sayedur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, was also present as a respected guest. Other speakers at the event included Associate Professor Syed Habib Anwar Pasha, Chairperson of the Department of Business Administration, and Ms. Rakhi Roy, Coordinator at Samaira Group. The overall coordination of the event was managed by Mr. K. M. Monirul Islam, Deputy Director of Career Services and International Office and Office of the Student Affairs at the university. At this event, university graduate students Umme Sumaiya Hossain and Ratna Akter Badhon shared their experiences after completing their internships in Japan. They recently returned to the country after finishing their internships in Tokyo, Japan. They encouraged everyone to pursue higher education opportunities in Japan. The speakers shared important information about studying in Japan, how to get a student or work visa, and job opportunities in Japanese companies. The seminar helped students learn about real steps to build a career abroad, especially in Japan. One great example of success is Md. Mansurul Haque Rashed, a recent graduate from the Department of Business Administration. He got a full-time job at Mon Napoleon Co. Ltd. in Japan after completing a competitive internship program. This was possible through the university’s collaboration with Samaira Group and Othelo Financial Institution, Japan. This success was made possible by the leadership of Prof. Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at Eastern University. This seminar showed Eastern University’s strong dedication to helping students build international careers. Many graduates from Eastern University are now studying and working in Japan, making the university proud.

Eastern University proudly welcomed its newly appointed Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, in a warm reception held on Sunday, 25 May 2025, at 2:30 PM at Rezakul Haider Hall. The event brought together faculty members, officials, and staff from all departments in a spirit of unity and celebrate the beginning of a new chapter for the university under Professor Sobhani’s leadership. The reception featured welcome speeches from several distinguished members of the academic community: Professor Md. Shamsul Huda, Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Abbas Ali Khan, Distinguished Professor Professor Dr. M. M. Shahidul Hassan, Distinguished Professor Professor Dr. M. Sayedur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Business Professor Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology A.B.M. Imdadul Haque Khan, Dean, Faculty of Law The speakers extended a heartfelt welcome to Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani and expressed confidence that under his visionary leadership, Eastern University will achieve its academic and institutional goals, further solidifying its position as one of the top universities in Bangladesh. In his inaugural address, the Vice-Chancellor expressed his gratitude to the Board of Trustees and all stakeholders for entrusting him with the responsibility to lead the university. He pledged his full commitment to advancing the institution’s academic excellence, research initiatives, and overall development. Seeking cooperation from faculty, staff, and administration, he emphasized a collaborative approach to raise the university to new heights. Eastern University is pleased to announce the appointment of Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani as its new Vice-Chancellor, effective May 24, 2025. His appointment was made by the Chancellor of the University and Hon’ble President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Prior to this role, Prof. Dr. Sobhani served as Professor at the School of Business and Economics and Director of the Center for International Affairs and Cooperation (CIAC) at United International University (UIU). He also held the positions of Professor and Dean at the Human Resource Development Institute (HRDI) of Daffodil International University, and Professor and Dean at the Faculty of Business Studies, International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC). Additionally, he served as Director of the MBA Program at the School of Business and Economics, UIU. Prof. Sobhani currently serves as a Visiting Professor at Sol Plaatje University, South Africa; and a Research Fellow at the Australian Academy of Business Leadership in Sydney. He also serves as the President of the Bangladesh Society for Private University Academics (BSPUA) and Vice-President of the Federation of Bangladesh Human Resource Organizations (FBHRO). He served as a Visiting Professor at the Accounting Research Institute (ARI) of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia. He has also served as an External Member of the Curriculum Committee at Rajshahi University and the PhD Program Committee at the Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). Furthermore, he held the position of Editor of the Australian Journal of Accounting, Economics, and Finance, published from Sydney. An accomplished academic, Dr. Sobhani holds a BBA and MBA in Accounting from the University of Chittagong, a second Master’s in Project Management from the University of Antwerp, Belgium, and a PhD from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). He has published nearly 100 research articles in national and international journals covering accounting, corporate disclosure, human resource management, and leadership. A native of Pakundia Upazila, Kishoreganj, Dr. Sobhani’s appointment was celebrated in a reception ceremony held at the University Conference Room. The event was graced by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Md. Moniruzzaman Molla; Former Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Md. Shamsul Huda; the Treasurer, Deans, Chairpersons, Advisors, Registrar, and other senior officials. ২০ এপ্রিল ২০২৫ – ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির ক্যাম্পাসে আজ সাজ সাজ রবে উদযাপিত হলো বর্ণাঢ্য "তারুণ্যের উৎসব ও বর্ষবরণ- ১৪৩২"। বৈশাখের রঙিন আবহে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রাঙ্গণ পরিণত হয় উৎসবের মিলনমেলায়, যেখানে শিক্ষক-শিক্ষার্থী, কর্মকর্তা-কর্মচারী ও প্রাক্তন শিক্ষার্থীদের উপস্থিতিতে মুখরিত হয় পুরো পরিবেশ। অনুষ্ঠানের প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির ভারপ্রাপ্ত উপাচার্য প্রফেসর মো. শামসুল হুদা। তিনি তার বক্তব্যে তরুণ প্রজন্মের উদ্দেশ্যে বলেন, "বাংলার গৌরবোজ্জ্বল ইতিহাস ও সংস্কৃতি ধারণ করে আগামীর পথে এগিয়ে যাওয়াই তোমাদের দায়িত্ব। জাতির উন্নয়নে তোমাদের সৃজনশীলতা ও মেধাই হবে মূল চালিকাশক্তি। তরুন প্রজন্মের শিক্ষার্থীদের প্রতি বিগত জুলাই বিল্পবের অবদানের প্রশংসা করেন এবং জাতিকে ভাবিষ্যতে সমৃদ্ধ রাখতে তাদের সামগ্রিক সহযোগিতা কামনা করেন।" এছাড়া তিনি দল-মত নির্বিশেষে সকলকে নিয়ে এই উৎসব উদযাপনের জন্য আয়োজক কমিটিকে ধন্যবাদ জানান। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের রেজিস্ট্রার ড. আবুল বাশার খান তারুণ্যের শক্তিকে স্বাগত জানিয়ে বলেন, "তোমাদের হাত ধরেই এগিয়ে যাবে বাংলাদেশ। সংস্কৃতি ও ঐতিহ্যের ধারক হিসেবে এই উৎসব তোমাদের মধ্যে দেশপ্রেম ও সম্প্রীতির বীজ বপন করুক।" প্রকৌশল ও প্রযুক্তি বিভাগের ডিন অধ্যাপক ড. মো. মাহফুজুর রহমান বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তির পাশাপাশি সাংস্কৃতিক চর্চার গুরুত্ব তুলে ধরে বলেন, "শিক্ষার সঙ্গে সংস্কৃতির সমন্বয়ই একজন শিক্ষার্থীকে পূর্ণাঙ্গ মানুষ হিসেবে গড়ে তোলে।" ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি কালচারাল ক্লাবের আয়োজনে এই উৎসবে ছিল বৈচিত্র্যময় আয়োজন—বৈশাখী মেলা, সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠান, ফ্ল্যাশ মব, নাগরদোলা, দোলনা ও বাহারি স্টল। অনুষ্ঠানটি সঞ্চালনা করেন ব্যবসায় প্রশাসন বিভাগের চেয়ারপারসন অধ্যাপক সৈয়দ হাবিব আনোয়ার পাশা ও কালচারাল ক্লাবের কো-অর্ডিনেটর সহকারী অধ্যাপক আব্দুল্লাহ আল-ফাহাদ। সার্বিক তত্ত্বাবধানে ছিলেন স্টুডেন্ট অ্যাফেয়ার্স ও ক্যারিয়ার সার্ভিসেসের উপ-পরিচালক কেএম মনিরুল ইসলাম। ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি তারুণ্যের উদ্দীপনা, শিক্ষার গুণগত মানোন্নয়ন এবং সাংস্কৃতিক ঐতিহ্য রক্ষায় নিরলসভাবে কাজ করে যাচ্ছে। এই উৎসব তারুণ্যের প্রাণশক্তি ও সংহতিরই প্রতীক হয়ে থাকল।

The Independence Day 2nd Inter-department Cricket Tournament was officially inaugurated on 21 April 2025 at the Eastern University Playground. A total of eight teams are participating in the tournament, including a team comprising faculty members and officials, aimed at fostering stronger bonds between students, faculty and officials. Professor Md. Shamsul Huda, Acting Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University, unveiled the tournament trophy and formally declared the event open. Dr. Abul Basher Khan, Registrar of Eastern University, along with chairpersons of academic departments, faculty members, and officials, were also present at the opening ceremony. The tournament group matches will take place from 21 to 23 April 2025, providing a platform for participants to demonstrate their talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

The IEEE Eastern University Student Branch successfully organized a specialized Industry Automation, Internet of Things (IoT) & Solar PV training session and workshop in collaboration with Ulterior Engineering Intl. A team of 41 students, accompanied by Md. Maidul Islam, Associate Professor, Department of EEE, and Coordinator of IEEE Eastern University Student Branch, along with Naimul Islam, Lecturer, Department of EEE, Eastern University, participated in this immersive learning experience. This hands-on session provided students with an in-depth understanding of Industrial IoT and Automation, exploring the integration of smart technologies in modern industries. Additionally, discussions on Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems highlighted advancements in renewable energy and their role in driving sustainable solutions. The visit also facilitated insights into emerging career pathways in engineering, equipping students with the technical knowledge and industry perspectives essential for navigating the evolving technological landscape. This immersive experience underscored the importance of technological innovation and sustainability, reinforcing the commitment to preparing future engineers for industry challenges and advancements.

শুক্রবার ২১ ফেব্রুয়ারি, ২০২৫ ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটিতে মহান শহীদ দিবস ও আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস উপলক্ষে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের রেজাকুল হায়দার হলে একটি আলোচনা সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। অনুষ্ঠানে ভাষা আন্দোলন ও বাংলা সংস্কৃতির ঐতিহ্য তুলে ধরে আলোচনা করা হয়। অনুষ্ঠানের সভাপতি হিসেবে বক্তব্য রাখেন অধ্যাপক মো. শামসুল হুদা, ট্রেজারার, ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি, বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে বক্তব্য দেন ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি শহীদ মিনারের পৃষ্ঠপোষক লায়ন আব্দুস সালাম চৌধুরী, শুভেচ্ছা বক্তব্য রাখেন ড. আবুল বাশার খান, রেজিস্ট্রার, ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি। বক্তারা ভাষা আন্দোলনের তাৎপর্য এবং এর মধ্য দিয়ে প্রাপ্ত নানান অর্জন নিয়ে আলোচনা করেন। অনুষ্ঠানে আরো বক্তব্য রাখেন প্রফেসর ড. মো. মাহফুজুর রহমান, প্রকৌশল ও প্রযুক্তি অনুষদের ডিন; এ.বি.এম. ইমদাদুল হক খান, আইন অনুষদের ডিন; ড. আবু বিন ইহসান, ফার্মেসী বিভাগের চেয়ারপারসন। তারা মাতৃভাষা দিবসের গুরুত্ব, বাংলা ভাষার সাংস্কৃতিক ও ঐতিহাসিক গুরুত্ব এবং ভাষাগত বৈচিত্র ও ঐক্যের প্রচারের গুরুত্ব তুলে ধরেন। অনুষ্ঠানটি সঞ্চালনা করেন কেএম মনিরুল ইসলাম, উপ-পরিচালক, স্টুডেন্ট এফেয়ার্স ও ক্যারিয়ার সাভির্সেস। এরআগে শোভাযাত্রা নিয়ে ক্যাম্পাসে নির্মিত 'শহীদ মিনার'-এ পুষ্পস্তবক অর্পন এবং ভাষা শহীদদের আত্মার মাগফেরাত কামনা করে দোয়া প্রার্থনা হয়। এদিন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষক-শিক্ষিকা, ছাত্র-ছাত্রী এবং কর্মকর্তা-কর্মচারীরা একত্রিত হয়ে শহীদ মিনারে ফুল অর্পণ করেন শহীদদের স্মরণে।

১২ ফেব্রুয়ারী, ২০২৫ ( ২৯ শে মাঘ, ১৪৩১) রোজ বুধবার, ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি স্থায়ী ক্যাম্পাসে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়ে গেল 'ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি প্রথম আলো বন্ধুসভা কর্তৃক আয়োজিত' "ফাগুনের রঙে ঋতুরাজের আগমন"। অনুষ্ঠানে অতিথিবৃন্দ হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির ভাইস চ্যান্সেলর প্রফেসর ড. সহিদ আকতার হুসাইন, ট্রেজারার মো: সামছুল হুদা, রেজিস্ট্রার ড. আবুল বাশার খান -এছাড়া সম্মানিত অতিথির আসন অলংকৃত করেন অন্যান্য অনুষদের ডিন, চেয়ারপার্সন ও সম্মানিত শিক্ষকরা। সেই সাথে অনুষ্ঠানকে প্রাণবন্ত ও রঙিন করে ফুটিয়ে তুলতে উপস্থিত ছিলেন "ইস্টার্ন বন্ধুসভার" বন্ধুরা। অনুষ্ঠানের প্রধান অতিথি ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটির উপাচার্য প্রফেসর ড. সহিদ আকতার হুসাইন বলেন, বসন্ত আমাদের জীবনে নতুন আশা ও শক্তি নিয়ে আসে, এটি প্রকৃতির নবজীবনের প্রতীক। আজ আমরা একত্রিত হয়েছি আমাদের ঐতিহ্য এবং সংস্কৃতির সাথে সংযোগ স্থাপন করার জন্য, যা আমাদের সবার হৃদয়ে স্নিগ্ধতা ও আনন্দ নিয়ে আসে। এই ঋতু আমাদের শিখিয়ে দেয়, জীবন পরিবর্তনশীল, এবং প্রতিটি নতুন দিন আমাদের জন্য নতুন সুযোগ এনে দেয়। এছাড়া আরও বলেন যে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় জীবনে বসন্তের এই উৎসব আমাদের একে অপরের সঙ্গে সংযোগ স্থাপনের একটি সুযোগ দেয়। আমরা শুধু বইয়ের জ্ঞানে নয়, বরং সাংস্কৃতিক ও মানবিক দৃষ্টিকোণ থেকেও সমৃদ্ধ হচ্ছি। আজকের এই দিনটি আমাদের বন্ধুত্ব এবং সহযোগিতার মনোভাব আরও শক্তিশালী করবে, এবং আমরা একে অপরকে আরও ভালোভাবে বুঝতে পারবো। রেজিস্ট্রার ড. আবুল বাশার খান বলেন, আজ আমাদের প্রাণের ক্যাম্পাসে ঋতুরাজ বসন্তকে বরণ করে নেওয়ার এই আয়োজন সত্যিই আনন্দের। বসন্ত হলো নবজাগরণের প্রতীক, সৌন্দর্যের প্রতিচ্ছবি এবং উৎসবের বার্তাবাহক। আমি আশা করি, আমরা সবাই আজকের দিনটি প্রাণভরে উপভোগ করব এবং বসন্তের রঙ আমাদের জীবনে নতুন আশার বার্তা বয়ে আনবে। অনুষ্ঠানের অতিথিদের বক্তব্য প্রদান শেষে শুরু হয় সাংস্কৃতিক পর্ব । "ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি প্রথম আলো বন্ধুসভার" বন্ধুদের স্বতঃস্ফূর্ত অংশগ্রহণে শুরুতে অনুষ্ঠিত হয় কবিতা আবৃত্তি ও রম্য বিতর্ক প্রতিযোগিতা। উক্ত অনুষ্ঠান দর্শক সারিতে উপবিষ্ট সকলে হাস্যরসের সাথে উপভোগ করেন। অনুষ্ঠানের ধারাবাহিকভাবে একে একে অনুষ্ঠিত হয় – নাচ, গান, র‍্যাপ গান, র‍্যাম্প শো, ইত্যাদি ইত্যাদি। অতিথিবৃন্দ ও "ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি প্রথম আলো বন্ধুসভার" বন্ধুগণের করতালি ও উচ্ছ্বাসে মুখরিত হয় পুরো ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি ক্যাম্পাস। অনুষ্ঠানের শেষের দিকে "মাসিক পাঠচক্র" শিরোনামে আয়োজিত জানুয়ারি মাসের সেরা তিন পাঠক কে পুরস্কার তুলে দেওয়া হয়। পুরস্কার তুলে দেন ইষ্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি বন্ধুসভার ২০২৪ কমিটির সভাপতি তারেক রহমান হৃদয়। আর এরইমধ্যে দিয়ে শেষ হয় "ইস্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি প্রথম আলো বন্ধুসভা" কর্তৃক আয়োজিত "বসন্ত বরণ উৎসব। অনুষ্ঠানের সার্বিক তত্ত্বাবধানে ছিলেন কে.এম মনিরুল ইসলাম ( উপ-পরিচালক,অফিস অফ দা স্টুডেন্ট এফেয়ার্স এবং ক্যারিয়ার সার্ভিসেস), সহযোগিতায় ছিলো- ইষ্টার্ন ইউনিভার্সিটি কালচারাল ক্লাব ও ডিবেট ক্লাব।

On 10th February 2025, the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) at Eastern University, supported by IEEE EU Student Branch, hosted an enriching seminar at Rezakul Haider Hall. The seminar featured renowned experts and professionals, starting with a special welcome from our esteemed Chief Guest Prof. Dr. M. M. Shahidul Hassan (Distinguished Professor, EEE, EU) and a special address by Prof. Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman (Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, EU). Our Session Chair, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdullah Al Humayun, guided the event, ensuring insightful discussions all around. But the highlight of the day was our speaker, Mr. Adnan J. Sadeque, the CEO and Founder of Rieha Engineering Services, Germany and a leading expert in Automotive Realtime Software. As the founder of BSAAG (Bangladesh Student Alumni Association in Germany), he shared invaluable knowledge on pursuing higher studies and building a career in Germany, inspiring countless students in the process. The three-hour session was interactive, filled with exciting discussions and Q&A sessions. Students were energized and eager to learn more about their future educational and career opportunities in Germany. This seminar has opened doors to new perspectives and is sure to guide students in making informed decisions for their careers.
